Go steelers.
2002-01-08 08:26:59 AM
Go chain squad!

I hate football this year. That is why I am a Cowboy's fan.
2002-01-08 08:36:05 AM
did anyone notice when Al Michaels was interviewing Red McCombs, Red had his headphones cocked back so they wouldn't disturb his awful toupee. that made me laugh.

The Chair? John McEnroe? uhh don't think so.

Ray Lewis says "Right now, we're in the playoffs, and everyone's 0-0. Records don't matter".

And some people complain about not having college playoffs. All playoffs do is make the regular season irrelevant. Here's a team with a 62% win ratio and yet they still have a shot at the title.

Put playoffs at the college level and all you will see is a drop in attendance and TV ratings for the first ten games. Oh, and you will also get to hear why it does not matter that Oregon loses to Stanford -- everything gets erased in the playoffs anyway.

Go Bears!
2002-01-08 08:44:11 AM
*sigh* - being a Vikings fan was hard this year.
2002-01-08 08:45:15 AM
Lord Farquaad - That was the most amusing part of the game.
2002-01-08 08:58:57 AM
Ray Lewis would kill to be back in the Super Bowl.
2002-01-08 09:12:23 AM
Best quote of the night was Dennis Miller getting indignant about the choice of crowd-made posters being shown. Dennis wanted to see one that his name on it:

Dennis: I want to see my name. Where's my name?
Al Michaels:(under his breath) On a beer bottle.
2002-01-08 09:16:20 AM
probably the worst football game ever played.
2002-01-08 09:27:24 AM
I remember one of the Ravens saying "No one wants to play us." I think it might have been Shannon Sharp.
No, Mr. Sharp, no one wants to *watch* you play. I like just about any team in the play-offs chances of beating the Ravens.
So, was this as ad or worse than the Cowboys/Redskins MNF game from earlier this season?
2002-01-08 09:29:57 AM
18 interceptions! Glad we got rid of Elvis last year! Then again, Trent Green sucks too...........:(
2002-01-08 09:38:32 AM
He I'll be suprised if they make it past the first round, The Ravens suck this year. and if they do make it to the second round, the Steelers will manhandle them again.

Let's win one for the thumb this year Black and Gold

What are you smoking? Playoffs would bring more interest to college football. If they even did a 4 team playoff, the regular season games would still matter because you would have to do well to make it. This year with that system we would get to see Oregon vs. Miami. That game would have a huge amount of people watching. I would be one of them and so would you.
2002-01-08 10:15:51 AM
I managed to get through the first half, but it wasn't easy. If I had thought the Vikings had a snowball's chance in hell I would have watched it all. Or if they had put that slimeball Art Modell on the field as quarterback I would have definitely watched it, as would every fan in Cleveland.
In the end, because of what Modell did to Cleveland-not my favorite town by the way, only a little better than Miami-I even cheer for Dallas against the Ravens.
2002-01-08 10:21:12 AM
The Ravens have a LOT of injuries. If they had Lewis and McCrary back, they'd be the same buzzsaw they were last year. This year they're very beatable, but still dangerous.
2002-01-08 10:22:56 AM
Ray Lewis says "Right now, we're in the playoffs, and everyone's 0-0. Records don't matter".

Records don't matter? Some teams are getting byes, while others will have home field advantage.
What do you have, Mr. Lewis? JACK
2002-01-08 10:45:16 AM
Their defense would be about as good as last year's (certainly a lot better than this year's) if they weren't all injured... but their offense is even more anemic this year for a few reasons... running game... Grbac... I'll be surprised if they get past the first round this year. So with that. Go Stillers :-) Have a nice day.
2002-01-08 10:50:17 AM
A football broadcast that needed livening up with pregame footage of Siragusa kicking field goals...
2002-01-08 11:50:44 AM
That's why you should have flipped it over to TNN to watch the return of The Game(uh).
2002-01-08 11:56:40 AM
I've lived in Baltimore all my life. Support the Ravens because they're the home team. Have a PSL, season tickets, was as surprised as everyone else last year when they won it all. Ravens get no respect because jerk off dullards like all of you are jealous. See you assholes in the Super Bowl. Steelers suck, Cowher swallows.
2002-01-08 12:11:40 PM
Slappy; that brand of childish name calling is uncalled for!
Modell sucks & swallows!
Browns are gonna whip your ass eight ways from Sunday next year!
2002-01-08 12:35:04 PM
Playoffs would fix college football, which is right now broken and stupid. Polls/the BCS/etc are all obsessed with 'who is number one', but have a system which makes it possible for a #1 team to not play any other top ten teams. Besides, part of the charm of the playoffs is that the plucky 8 seed can come in and beat the champs - as any fan of March Madness will tell you.

That game was far worse than the Redskins/Cowboys game, because of expectations. I expected a slopfest back then, but the Raves and the Vikes are both supposed to be decent teams. And I don't care what you say, Mr. Lewis, when the Vikings Defense prevents your offense from scoring a touchdown the entire game, I wouldn't be saying anything like "Everybody's afraid of us".
2002-01-08 12:56:41 PM
Everybody thinks I'm on crack, but here's what's going to happen:

Chicago will surprise everyone and take out the Rams. They will meet the Steelers in the superbowl. The bowl will be decided by 3 points, possibly in overtime.

I'm only saying it now so there is a record.
2002-01-08 01:18:09 PM
Charlie: If I had TNN, I would have been so watching Raw.
The Game Is On.
2002-01-08 01:36:56 PM
anyone else think the bizarre coaching decisions made near the end of the game (vikes punting on 4th & 1, ravens throwing deep when they should have been running out the clock) were an attempt to ensure that the ravens beat the spread?

anyone else notice that after the ravens scored their touchdown, that sort of questionable decision-making ended...

or should i just be embarrassed that i actuallt watched the whole travesty of a game...
2002-01-08 01:48:21 PM
Dersins:I'll admit that I watched the entire thing, but I had not thought of the point spread angle. I thought that the throws by the Ravens was just 'practice' for Grbac (he needs it ya know?)

I was, however, very confused by the decision to punt by the Vikings on 4th and 1. That could be evidence for your suspicion.
2002-01-08 02:13:20 PM
/me Slaps Kincaid a ^5

Go Ravens! Steelers blow, and that loud-mounth towel-waiving piece of white trash I spilled beer on at PSINet in early December swallows. If you live in Baltimore, Steeler fans are the WORST, I can't wait to see them loose in the playoffs.

By far the worst MNF game in history had to be the Redskins-Cowboys matchup early in the season.

We all noticed that headset not quit sitting right on Mccombs head, and wondered....WTF? Thanks for clearing that up for us :-)

The Chair w/ John McEnroe...I think not. When I first glanced, I wasn't really paying attention. It looked like a chair that could be wired with 50,000 watts, and I was hoping that McEnroe was going to executed for being such a lamer all through the 80's.
2002-01-08 02:47:09 PM
Yawgmoth: And he's feuding with Angle. Oh boy.
And you don't have TNN? That means no Trek re-runs as well. Ouch. I hope you have UPN.
2002-01-08 03:18:58 PM
As a Baltimoron and Ravens fan it pains me to say that game sucked, blew, swallowed and spat. But then again most of ther games looked that way this year. I will be very surprised if they go anywhere in the playoffs.

Oh, and the Colts really suck.
2002-01-08 03:34:21 PM
Ugly as hell, I'll agree, but then again it's one more in the W column. Anyone ever notice Cowher has lips like a duck? I will root like hell against whoever plays the Steelers. Go back to Pittsburgh, you moronic blue collar buttboys
2002-01-08 05:51:23 PM
About the point spread...did you note Al Michaels' comment after the Raven TD to the effect (paraphrasing here) that "a lot of people just got much happier" and Miller's response being something like a sarcastic "Why Al, WHATEVER are you talking about?"

Pretty blatant.
2002-01-08 06:11:39 PM
go pats!
2002-01-08 06:49:47 PM
As long as Dennis Green is gone, there is hope for all Viking fans on this day.
2002-01-08 08:23:32 PM
Hey, I'll have you know I watched the final 3 minutes. But only because I had a bit of an upset stomach. (In retrospect, that probably made it worse.)

Go...uh. Go away!
2002-01-09 08:33:52 AM
Don't like how the Ravens win? TFB, Mofos. Let's see who's NOT in the po's: Redskins, Colts, Browns, Bills, Titans, Jaguars, Bengals, Seahawks, Broncos (yeah! Not so easy without horseteeth, huh, Shanahan?), Chiefs, Chargers, Giants, Cardinals, Cowboys, Vikings, Lions, Saints, Falcons, and Panthers. Can't wait to see that galloping goof Kordell Stewart choke in the po's and watch Cowher have a brain aneurysm on the sideline. KS has been playing way over his head all season. Maybe Cowhers' head will pop off. Steelers fans are the most obnoxious, second only to those bottle slinging Browns's fans. Go Ravens! And any team playing the Steelers.
