Just the fact that they're calling Season Eight "Dreamland" suggests that (real) Archer is alive but comatose and this season is all happening in his head.

Will it go full Life On Mars and have his dream cases be connected to his current state?

That and the creators already said this was what was happening.

Uncle Pooky: Anyone else find the laughs... lacking?

I thought the same thing, but it's only a 30-second commercial and a lot of the funny parts of Archer needed to be set up. Most of the one-liners out of context don't really work. Also, they're probably running that commercial all day so they can't/don't want to include any of the "more adult" parts, which is often the show's funniest stuff as far as one-liners.

Pretty much since they stopped being ISIS. I still watch, but the laughter out louds per episode has gone way down.

I don't think I've seen season 7 yet for some reason. Season 6 was a nice return from the Archer Vice year.

I was wondering that myself.

Like maybe the audience is also assumed to be retro, and everyone (including the producers) knows that the audience has certain expectations.

Wesley Crusher was on Felicia Day's web series The Guild too and while sort of funny, he seems like he's trying entirely too hard to shed the Wesley Crusher thing by being filthy.

I think you're getting an incomplete picture based on that.  The CAH episode isn't really representative of Tabletop as a whole.  The general format is there (gets a group of geeky celebs together, gives a quick-and-dirty explanation of the rules, and they show an abridged game with plenty of cross-table chatter), but it's typically much more PG/PG-13.  They went a little more wild with that one because, well, it's CAH.  Playing that while staying "clean" and not drinking doesn't really work.

Yeah but if you saw The Guild and then all his tats, I dunno, it looks like he's trying too hard. I can't blame him, he got Jar Jar Binks level of shiat upon for a character that wasn't his fault.

Archer Vice was a bit of a let down but season 7 got it back on track for me.

Didn't hurt that they had a great guest cast for season 7.

Bring on season 8!

Part of me thinks the issue is that the show has improved plot and action sequences which can distract from the comedy. When I first watched through Archer Vice and the following season where they were working for the CIA I didn't laugh that much either but upon second viewing I just soaked it in and found them just as funny.

/Can't wait to binge on Season 7 once it comes up on Netflix
