And that shoe from Donatella Versace's (because I'm pretty sure she was alive back then) 1931 "Depression Chic" collection isn't outdated? And the iron that's heated on the wood stove?

But the thimble is outdated?

You know how we know Monopoly is out of date? There's a luxury tax, you can invest in infrastructure, and rich people can go to jail.

The same idiots that are voting for emojis & hashtags to be new game pieces will never buy, let alone play a board game.

Hashtags, emojis and even a rubber duck may replace dogs, cats and hats in an upcoming version.

Hashtags?

If you don't know what a thimble is for, Monopoly is far to complicated for you anyway.

My favorite thing about Monopoly is that it was created to show how shiatty capitalism (specifically landlords) can be, and our stupid country full of stupids has been jerking off over it for almost 100 years. Monopoly sucks, fark you. Shove your thimble, and the rest of that joyless abomination-in-a-box right up your wrinkly poo-hole!

There isn't already? There's every other conceivable version of the game. 26 movies should produce enough material. The pieces would be easy. A Walther PPK, an Aston Martin, a martini glass, etc.

That's the weird thing when they try to update horribly out of date things, it's the only reason anyone buys them. No one wants a super rad slinky.

The Thimble was one of my favourites. It was stable and didn't fall over all the time.

I voted to keep it.

On the other hand, I voted for a lot of the new tokens based on their charm, design, or stability as a playing piece.

Yes. I voted in the Monopoly poll.

Oh, well. Just borrow some pieces from Clue (Cluedo in the UK).

I recommend the noose. But then I am part French and there is no Guillotine.

Les riches à la lanterne! Vive la Révolution!

I don't like the rich. I like their things. But most rich people are jerks. If I were rich I would want to be a reclusive rich guy who never accepts invitations outside of a very small circle of friends.

Speaking of the Guillotine, thinking about it always makes me regret I never learned how to knit. Or cackle like an old hag. Well, actually I can cackle like an old hag. Several old hags. But you know what I mean.

We had a client make its own Monopoly game to give to its clients using the properties that it owned in place of the originals.  Of course, Hasbro beat them down but the interesting thing is that the only bits they had copyright over were the Jail square and one other thing that I can't remember.  The rest is apparently too generic to copyright, at least in this country.

I think that was a bit in National Lampoon from the early 70s. I've not seen the board game so I don't know how much it resembles the article.

Back on topic. I want to see a Branch Dildonian theme. Pieces include a dildo, a gun, a blue tarp, snacks and another dildo. Squares to occupy include federal land and wildlife refuges. Everyone gets a Get Out of Jail Free card at the end even though they clearly don't deserve it.

When shall we three meet again?

In thunder, lightining and in rain.

Where the place?

Upon the heath, there to meet with MacBeth.

From memory. I memorized the whole scene as a youth. If I had to act in a play, it would be that one probably and I would want to be a witch. On the other hand, King Lear has its charms.

Blow winds, crack your cheeks and blow!
Ye hurricanoes and tempests spout
Drown our steeples!

I did well in English. I once got 105% on an exam because I was the only student who took my Engllish Teacher's joke about memorzing passages from Beowulf as examples seriously and did it.

I wrote them in the back of the exam pads before the exam began because I was afraid I would forget them. Was that cheating? I did not forget them. It would certainly have created some confusion if I had been caught because the pads were handed out by the teacher so how the Hell would I get one with the answers in it? That would be a question for the Amazing Randi. Demonic possession of an English Teacher? Some kind of tele-kinesis?

Any hoo, I was always driving the Class Valedictorian crazy by getting amazingly good marks on papers. Once I good a really good mark on a paper that was completely off-topic. But she did not know that I negotiated a change of topic after having a really hard time writing.

English literature. It is all done with smoke and mirrors.

I fear the new pieces will be Star Wars or Marvel or some other licensed crap.

Oh, wait, worse. There won't be pieces in the box, there will be separate "collector" packs with characters from Disney, DC, Star Wars, Barbi, Terminators, NFL, MLB...

They already have special edition monopolies for that.  Heck, I had Star Wars monopoly for the PC almost 2 decades ago.

Ah, Monopoly.  When I was a kid it was the best way to get a family argument started.

I haven't played in years.  I may have to buy the game and play.
