FAKE. No woman from Wyoming is going to call herself "mum".

I agree. If someone has a life altering illness it needs to meet a certain numerical threshold before I can care. Otherwise they can die in a dumpster.

So like my roommate.

That's funny, I was going to say the same thing - at the end they cite a NYP version of the article that has "mom" in it:

I most respectfully disagree sir or madem.   This is no different than  the plauge, polio, or halitosis.  All maladities should be given all our attentention, all the time.

The actual interview (which is linked) she says mom.  I'm assuming it was translated for those damn Aussies.  They should know real English.

Ferrets sleep 20 hours a day.  But for those other 4 hours, boy are they active.  Mostly eating and shaiting.  Yeah, I did.  Two of them.  How did you guess?

Sleep too much? What the hell is that? The highlight of my middle-aged life these days is those rare occasions when I can find time for a nap.

i bet this turns out to be a gut disorder.

2017-02-16 11:10:00 PM
I had no idea I was a sufferer:

Patients with Kleine-Levin syndrome (KLS) experience reoccurring feelings of excessive tiredness and prolonged sleep (hypersomnia).[1] In most cases, patients sleep 15 to 21 hours a day during episodes.[2] Excessive appetite (hyperphagia) and unusual cravings are present in half to two thirds of cases.[2][3][4] About half of patients, mainly male patients, experience dramatically increased sexual urges (hypersexuality)

The 23-year-old said she hopes to promote awareness about the disorder.

Why do so many people with any kind of issue need to turn it into a cause? It sucks that she suffers like that, but it's a medical disorder that's only seen 500 total cases worldwide. There are a lot of vastly more important things we should be educating people about before we get that far down the list.

Because, take the bull by the horns and do something. Otherwise you are just a victim and life sucks. Your choice.  I vote do something.

Literally the perfect woman.  She wakes up, you eat a meal with her, hang out for a bit, have sex, then put her to bed.  You then have all the rest of the day to yourself.  My god.  It would be amazing.

You're on to something here.

She would only need a couple outfits and pairs of shoes.

The house would be set up the way I like it.

You're right. The perfect woman.

KarmicDisaster: Quaker: The 23-year-old said she hopes to promote awareness about the disorder.

I think there's a pretty big middle ground between being a victim and trying to make your issue some kind of cause célèbre. You can just be proactive in your own life without feeling like you need to make it a public cause. Although it's interesting that you chose the word "victim", because a lot of people including sociologists that I've heard (specifically on NPR, if that matters) have referred to our current culture as a "victimhood culture" where being a victim carries a kind of social status. So for a lot of people I think that is largely if not primarily the motivation.

That being said, it at least makes logical sense if it's a major problem like cancer and especially if it's one that people don't like to acknowledge like sexual assault. But it just strikes me as someone looking for a public cross to bear when it's a problem that's only ever affected 500 people worldwide. Let's focus on getting people's attention on things like poverty before we worry about awareness of something that affects 0.000007% of the population.

Then again, she could also have been misquoted or taken out of context as news outlets are often wont to do.

I am green with envy, as I also have a 1 month old and 3 other school age mini mes. I let the wife have overnight off. I work afternoon/evening, then watch and feed little guy overnight, until it's time to drive kids to school, then 3 hours sleep before work starts..... and repeat.... so literally exactly the opposite of what this girl has.
