Crewmannumber6: Who cares?

I expect you to apologize and explain your comment, which appears to be insulting to women.

A: ASU is supposed to talk trash about U of A, it's how the universe stays on an even keel.

B: He was saying that if they want to have an actual home court, then they need to start winning away games, and U of A is the next game.

C: Stop freaking out about absolutely everything someone says.

I love Bisbee. Freaky artists,  a lot of bars all withing stumbling distance, and coaster races on the 4th.

Not to show my age but when I lived there it was still on the decline from Phelps Dodge halting operations. So it was way different...

We moved out of AZ about 10 years ago, but until then, it was our 4th of July tradition, as a friend's mom lived there. It has turned into a nice little eclectic town. A lot if artists there,  the bars and restaurants are doing well, it's a little touristy, but not too bad. And it was the first place I saw that had an active gay community, with more than one lease waving the flag back as early as the mid 90s,when acceptance was still kind of an off and on thing.

I don't know how it is now, but the 4th also had the added bonus of being dangerous at fireworks time. They launched off of one of the old railings piles, and about 1 out of every 10 or 12 fireworks fails to launch, and instead bounces down the side of the mountain before exploding. Since this is where the old mansions from the mining execs is, it's always interesting to see how far before they go off.  ☺

Doug Stanhope lives there also, and has apparently given his address out for anyone who wants to drop by.

Living in Phoenix, it was our way to get a small town feel, not have to deal with tourist traps like Jerome, and decompress while still getting to actually go to more than one bar.

This is one case in which we find the person that was offended and then mock the crap out of them.

Bisbee's definitely had a much better post-PD life than my childhood town.

I almost took him up on that 3-4 years ago.  he had just been on Joe Rogan and said he was having a 'all comers' super bowl party.  he was like, "my address is 123 sm -" and joe cuts him off:  "dude!  are you sure you want to say your address?"  he was like, "fark yeah, i don't care.  the way i see it is, if some crazy is out to get me, they're gonna get me no matter what.  and bisbee isn't a place you just stumble upon.  you have to want to come here.  so yeah.  123 Smith Street.  only rule is bring your own shiat.  don't show up and drink / smoke my shiat.  bring your own shiat, don't be a dick, and we'll have a party."

I've heard somewhere of people showing up and it's totally like he said, he has no problem with it. I haven't been down there since he moved there, but if I went down again, I'd probably look him up. Just to say I did.  I think he lives near these people we met on our first trip that treat everyone like family, so if I went down, there's even a chance I'd be hanging out on his block to begin with. ☺

I was seriously committed to going, then Super Bowl Sunday came, and i was like, "do i really want to drive 95 minutes to Tucson, then another 60 or so minutes past that, and then.....what if it sucks?"  so i bailed.

i haven't been to Bisbee since i was a child but i've had friends go and they say it is a blast.  an old friend goes about once a year as his dad relocated there.  says it is like an old west vibe.  apparently the laws are not really enforced, as told to me?  very libertarian as described to me.  people were smoking weed the vibe was like, 'as long as you aren't being a dick about it or infringing on my vibe, who farken cares, live and let live'...."

We used to go all of the time for the 4th when I was in Phx and loved the vibe. At the time, you really did have to do quite a bit to get in trouble, it's what Sedona and Jerome would be like if they weren't so popular and touristy. I'd love to see what the place is like now for sure. It was just a great small town for meeting the locals and hanging out with them, the bars are hopping, even though it's a tiny place, and you can walk pretty much anywhere. If I were going to be cursed with living back in Az, it would be one of the few places I'd truly want to live.
