Spanos then drooled into his pudding before soiling himself.

/Whether that refers to the nonagenarian Alex or his idiot son Dean is up to the reader.

If the Charger keep this up, no one will want them. They've burned every bridge they had here in San Diego and are (allegedly) going to nuke the planet from orbit with a press conference tomorrow morning an hour before Hizzoner Falcouner does his State of the City address. I hear London is nice this time of year.

No vote of any sort will take place for the Raiders' official move until the spring, though Davis remains focused on filing official relocation papers as soon as possible.

Shoot! I thought the owners were going to vote on this in January. Now I gotta wait until at least March to find out if Vegas gets it's second big-league pro sports team. Boo!

With that said, I say spread 'em out. Instead of two teams in LA, and two teams in the Bay area, how 'bout the Chargers in San Diego, the Rams in L.A., the 49ers in the SF area, and the Raiders in Las Vegas?

Gee, I hope that collection of poor billionaires can come up with the money to build a stadium...surely a teensy-weensy tax increase on the general public is the right move.

Brilliant! Why hasn't anyone else thought of this?

Former Charger GM, AJ Smith was interviewed a few months ago and basically called this whole scenario out as it's happened.  The Chargers will say they're leaving, there will be NFL meetings, the Chargers will insist they're leaving, the NFL will have more meetings and give extensions, the Chargers will almost announce they are leaving (several times), the NFL will have more meetings and issue more extensions and then....the NFL owners will pony up another 200 mil+ and the Chargers will get a new stadium with some taxpayer monies, but a lot less than they wanted.

/at this point, the city/county have put up ~350mil, but that STILL has to be put forth for a public vote, which is a long shot if they stick with the 2/3 voter approval requirement

dywed88: If the League bribes Spanos to stay in San Diego what are the odds Davis decides to exercise his option to move to LA?

The second Spanos announces he stays in San Diego, Davis signs the option to move to LA. Vegas would be nice but Raiders would own LA and based on the contract Davis doesn't need any more votes to move to LA. If Charges pass on the move to LA there is nothing to stop the Raiders.

Move to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Play in Grand Valley State's stadium until you build a new one. Get sad Lions fans AND sad Bears fans to attend.

You better pay up, San Diego, or you're gonna lose your team.  Nobody will consider you a real city if you don't have a team.  You better pay up, San Diego, cuz we're about to leave.  We're leaving now.  You still have a chance to pay us....

Get used to that.

That is what I figured. Unless the deal with Spanos is an extension (they can pay Davis off again) and they hope to close out the Raiders situation before it expires.

The owners already voted last year. Spanos can move the team to LA and the league can't stop him. If he doesn't do it then Davis can move to LA and he League can't stop him.

It was part of the Rams relocation deal.

The problem for the other owners is they want to keep a space open for another team in LA (gives other teams looking for a new stadium a ready to go threat), and they want to stay in San Diego and plus move into Vegas.  I wonder how much they'll bribe Davis and Spanos?

Actually, the Chargers slice is way too big and should be more like a checkerboard with all of the non-Chargers fans in SD.

Spanos needs 500-600 mil minimum to build stadium in San Diego without city help. It's rumored that he has about 400-500 mil of his own money and if latest stadiums are to go by then he needs about 1 bil.

Davis knows that LA is the best choice for Raiders if Chargers don't make the move. He will make a whole lot more money in LA over Las Vegas (to the tune of 100s mil a year extra) so the league would have to pay a whole lot.

the San Antonio Raiders would have made a lot of sense.  if they marketed towards the Hispanic population in the area and perhaps commit to playing a game a year in Mexico City for several years to expand on their Mexican fan base - it might really have opened up a new market for the NFL. no way in hell Jerry Jones is going to let another team in Texas though.

I'm starting to doubt Vegas is going to happen. the NFL is floating the idea they can do the deal without Sheldon Adelson, and - well - if you know anything about him - that's not going to happen

Jerry Jones and McNair won't allow a 3rd Texas team. Just not going to happen, that was made abundantly clear with Mark Davis was nosing around the idea. You likely have a better shot at something like:

meyerkev: Move the Raiders to Vegas, and the Chargers to San Jose so they can get a new stadium to share with the A's.

But I'm not terribly familiar with the local-level politicking in the San Jose area, so I'll leave that discussion to others more informed than me

It's mostly shiatposting.

The Raiders and A's both want out of the Coliseum because the plumbing doesn't work and floods the dugouts among other things.  (Mind you, I've been for both baseball and football and it wasn't half bad, but I get it).

The A's have wanted to move to San Jose for a while, but that doesn't work because the Giants are dicks.

And of course, the 49ers moved from SF to Santa Clara.

San Jose already has the Niners, so not an option for the Chargers or Raiders.

And the Giants will never allow the As into San Jose.

I mean, nobody belongs in the Oakland Coliseum. I can see why the Raiders want to go to Vegas. They have a viable stadium on offer and Oakland's just been proposal after proposal come to nothing. When Kroenke put the gears in motion, the Raiders merely got on board lest they miss their best chance to get the hell out of the Coliseum.

Meanwhile, Rob Manfred's trying to push things along as far as getting the A's out of there too.

Something to keep in mind:

Relocation fee remains at $550 million, payable when stadium opens. If choose to pay over 10 years, $650 million: $65 million a year.

For comparison's sake, the Packers total net profit in 2015 was just under 75M, and the actual operating profit was just over 48M.

The only people that care are the farking idiot politicians that have been duped into the lie that an NFL team is an economic boon, and the greedy farking billionaire that doesn't have to pay money for a stadium. Everyone else in SoCal could give a fark.
