No cultivated asset, no cultivated asset. YOU'RE the cultivated asset!

I think even George Orwell and Kafka would be scratching their heads at this point.

Alex Jones doesn't strike me as particularly cultivated...

I think the more applicable term is "useful idiot."  InfoWars was more than receptive stories about the evil of the Obama administration planted by RT and other Putin-friendly "news" sources.

You can say whatever you what about Alex Jones' politics, but you want to have him as your Death Metal vocalist:

Despite the differences in their fundamental ideologies, there's a reason Stalin and Hitler were able to come to an agreement on carving up Poland.  At the end of the day, expansionist authoritarians are birds of a feather.

Once we realize that truth it'll be a lot easier to understand the craziness around us.

I'm just here to say I love the word corpulent.  It describes so much about today's society.

Along with Daniel "Tyler Durden" Ivandjiiski of ZeroHedge.

Ironic twist: Breitbart's expansion plans include annexation of ZeroHedge's territory, poaching Wall Street Journal hacks to increase their output of business news from a "nationalist" perspective.

Man fearful of the existence of authoritarian police state appreciates kind words from authoritarian police state

Makes sense if you're insane.

We're reaching Neal Stephenson levels at this point.

As lifelong Austinite, I've been around Alex Jones' schtick  for the better part of 3 decades.  IMHO,  he's a fraud.    I've heard accounts from many people (including someone who worked for him) in line with this twitter rant.

https://twitter.com/NakatomiTim/status/813853820581281793

But if we're going to peddle in conspiracy theories as Alex does, let's try this one for size.   Alex Jones does VERY well for himself financially, and anyone who has seen him out and about around Austin and knows the neighborhood he lives in could attest to that.     So well that maybe sometimes I've questioned whether there's really that much money to be made in subscription services and hawking herbal snake oil.    Maybe, PT Barnum built a fortune fleecing rubes, but the veracity in which he seemed to join in the Trump/Putin website syndicate (*cough**cough* Zero Hedge *cough**cough*)  seemed to be a little bizarre and over the top even for him.

Then I noted Anne Applebaum's experiences when she wrote an anti-Putin article in the Washington Post.

If I was slightly ahead of the curve, it's only because I saw it firsthand. A couple of years ago, I was the focus of a smear campaign. Elements of it could have been lifted out of a spy novel, but the basic idea was quite simple: In the wake of the invasion of Crimea, when I was writing quite a bit about Ukraine, nasty little articles about me started appearing on Russia-based websites. The technique was the same as that used by people who later dressed up the stories from the emails of the Democratic National Committee and John Podesta: Mix truth and lies - my book contract and royalties were described as mysterious income from questionable sources - make ludicrous claims, pass on the lies to other Russian-backed websites, and then watch them pass it on again.
...
But it was eye-opening to watch the stories move through a well-oiled system, one that had been constructed for exactly this sort of purpose. Eventually the articles about me were echoed or quoted in a dozen places: on quasi-respectable websites with ties to Russian business, on Russia Today, and on pro-Russian U.S. websites such as Ron Paul's Institute for Peace and Prosperity. The process peaked in November 2015, when WikiLeaks - out of the blue - tweeted one of the articles to its 4 million followers.

Not a huge surprise to me to see Alex Jones and Infowars in the pipeline, as he is pretty much part and parcel of the Ron Paul tribal community, so yeah, really not that shocking.

Hogwash.

Next thing you know the liberal media will be saying that Andrew Brietbart's was killed after refusing to participate in a similar favorable Putin coverage scheme.   They'll be saying that Putin killed Brietbart's to allow Scott Bandon to take over Brietbart's media outlet.   They'll be saying that they immediately went to work attempting to frame his death as another member of the Clinton Body Count conspiracy... Two birds,  one stone.

I would check those exact same sources for just this information in the days immediately following Andrew Brietbart's death. And if it's there,  if they're accusing the Clintons of Brietbart's murder and promoting Bandon on that network of websites,  clogs  and blogs you know what that means...

But we know already,  don't we?
