germ78: I've been working as a package handler for FedEx the past month plus, so I am really getting a kick out of the replies. Seriously. Actually work in the smartpost section, which is where the USPS has outsourced some of their parcel handling, sorting, and long-haul operations. Not much to say other than occasionally we see mangled boxes come down the belt, but those get sent to QA/QC. And you can tell when an apartment building in the city cancels Direct TV because we get mountains of return boxes coming our direction. Otherwise, we try to be careful with things marked 'fragile', boxes marked 'this end up' generally get ignored, stop farking buying oranges online - those farkers are heavy, and people seem to buy a lot of overpriced crap from Harry & David. (those boxes are heavy too)
NIXON YOU DOLT!!!!!: Boudyro: I like how TFA tries to make it sound like what happened to these art pieces - deliberately packaged in a way that ensures they are damaged - is the same as the stuff you have shipped to you.This.Made to fit the box EXACTLY with no padding? Yeah, anything stacked on it is going to crack it.If anything it's a testament to the strength of the boxes that they're still in a recognizable shape and not COMPLETELY destroyed.

I actually thought that was Smartpost. Pay FedEx, they handle the long haul, they pay USPS for the last mile as it were. UPS calls it Mail Integration don't they?
berylman: What did you expect? It's the fault of the packager. You can get extremely delicate glassware call my buds at Sigma Aldrich they know how to do it right. Let gorillas handle it.
I_Am_Weasel: They say art is subjective, but that's still no reason to subject us to that art.
albatros183: if you are preferred by the cool kids it does not matter what you do, andy warhale is a very minimized example of what has happened since
