I can't wait for the ads mocking him for the "CP time" comment, even though she was right there on stage with him and her people vetted their skit in advance.

Who?

2017-01-10 05:47:01 PM
The rumor I heard is that she has no intent on running, but is intentionally not saying she won't to punish DiBlasio for not immediately endorsing her. I'd like to think she's not that petty. That's Chris Christie territory. Trump territory.

Why won't she release the long-form denial?

Yeah, it was a story on here yesterday. One of her buddies says that she won't run for any kind of political office again> This is getting to be like reading articles on LiveScience, one contradiction right after the other.

I get the feeling she's doing it with a slight sense of revenge.  She got shiatcanned at the post by Hairstyle McCorruption, and now wants to make his life even more uncomfortable than before.  And why not become the leader of the very city where he lives?   She can certainly make it unfavorable to be there, and really do a number on any developments he has left.

But right now I expect she's chilling and recovering and figuring out what to do next.  But I wouldn't expect an answer.  She's got a lot of time right now and why not put some added pressure on the Joke President?

2017-01-10 05:50:18 PM
Is she expected to say she's not running for everything?  I think she should run for mayor just because fark could use the pageviews but I'm guessing she's not responding because she doesn't want to.  She shouldn't have to state she's not running just because the press needs another story.

She's reached the Fark it stage. "I don't care any more. They elected Trump, they can deal with the mess themselves. Lets go somewhere warm. How's Fiji sound? "

Not really, being mayor of New York is a pretty interesting job, it wouldn't be the first time someone who lost an election tried to do something else in poltics.

How about because after decades of public service, two presidential campaigns of her own, and stints as first lady, Senator and Secretary of State, she doesn't have to play the game anymore?

She deserves obscurity at this point in her life. At least then she can go back to doing good for people without half the country thinking she's setting up kiddy diddling rings at the local pizza shop.

JDAT: Wouldn't being Mayor after being the Secretary of State be a step down for her?

The Mayor of NYC is incredibly powerful within the city limits. It's definitely an executive position more powerful than most of the state governors in this country. She could implement citywide policies that could go on to become Democrat and progressive platforms. Is it a step down from Sec State? Sure, I guess, but it's kind of Apples and Oranges. And de Blasio sucks so she'd really run away with it handily.

I would not vote for her for a number of reasons and because I don't think she'd do things any differently than Bloomberg did for 12 years. But if she's not ready to retire, would like to feel like a winner again, and wants to remain relevant and powerful it makes sense that she might consider it, if for no other reason than as an ego boost during the speculation.

No chance she is even considering it though. It's obviously just a middle finger to de Blasio as TFA explains. A woman scorned, and all that

Plenty of people (including many $hills on this very site) were saying she was done running for office back in 2008, including the woman herself if I recall correctly, so never say never

One thing I hadn't considered, but has already been pointed out in this thread, the mayor of NYC can do a lot to aggravate the President-elect as this is his hometown and his wife and son will be living here and will be protected on the city's dime for the forseeable future. That's really the only reason I would consider getting behind this idea myself

Let's see. The press spent two years beating her up over things like Benghazi and emails to the point where a narcissistic man-baby with pigmentation problems and an utter disregard for truth is going to take over the highest office in the land in less than two weeks.

Why, oh why, won't Clinton talk to the press?

2017-01-10 06:11:31 PM
Maybe it's because she's done and doesn't GIS anymore. She knows that, regardless of what she says, it will be taken out of context and used against her in absurd means.

She's done. She doesn't care; she's retired. Let anybody/everybody speculate because no one will believe what she says any way. She's been slandered, slanted, and misrepresented so badly, whatever she says will be taken out of context and spun such that whatever she actually says will be turned into something it isn't.

Why not just rest, retire and say nothing? Let everyone else speculate and look like fools in the end. Let them eat their Trump cake while she retires comfortably and lets everyone else, that voted against their own interest, suffer their own consequences. She tried to help people save them from themselves, and they wouldn't have it. Now she can retire comfortably and let the masochists and ignorant suffer their own consequences. Why would she try to help when she was cast as villainous for trying to save people from themselves?

Good for you, Hillary. Retire, have a nice life, and let people that think the ACA and Obamacare are two different things suffer their own consequences. You can only go so far and sacrifice so much when trying to help people help themselves. At some point, you have to look out for numero uno and retire to a happy place.

You're annoyed someone who lost a grueling election that took up pretty much all of their life that last 2 years, has been taking time off before she starts her next project?  She needs to stay out of the public eye until at least the inauguration as people should be talking about Trump and not focusing on Clinton right now.

I am sure her need for power will lead her in this direction, but even if she runs and wins, I think the Democratic party at the national level is trying to move beyond the Clinton era, so I don't think she will still be a national figure.

Assuming she doesn't run for office likely something to help with women and children, they have pretty much been her major focus outside of politics.  She's also not off sulking in the woods, she's a private citizen currently and she's entitled to her privacy.

What exactly do you want her to do because I'm pretty sure if she was out talking with the press everyday and looking at running for another office you'd be one the first people here to condemn her for that.

Sure she will, look at how people won't stop talking about her.  When Mitt Romney lost, when Kerry lost people didn't feel the need to talk about their potential cabinet.  Clinton will be a powerful national figure until she dies.
