Weird to see Tom Cotton on the relatively reasonable side.

Well, it seems a few Republican senators who would like to still be senators in 2-4 years have finally realized that A) a lot of their constituents are rather poor and are being helped by Obamacare and B) many of those in turn are too stupid to realize it after being fed an 8-year stream of neverending bullshiat from said senators.

My gift to those senators:

I think the GOP is just starting to realize that they're now in a position to start delivering on some of their more insane/unreasonable promises and are starting to realize that the shiat they've promised to do is going to exceptionally destructive to their own voter base.

they really don't have anything to worry about tho.  the trumpers are willing and ready to suffer.  they're demanding it, actually.  they love the abuse, and want the GOP to hurt this country good, make us bleed and cry.  I think the pain is the only way they know they're alive anymore.

Elections have consequences. One of those consequences is the people who elected you expect that you will:

A). Work on their behalf.
B). Not fark them over.
C). Remember that A). is negotiable but B).is not if you want to be re-elected.

Stigginit ain't so fun when there's blowback.

its the only conclusion that makes sense - the trumpers know that repealing the ACA is going to hurt them LONG before it hurts the rich elites in the GOP upper ranks....and they are STILL demanding it be done.  so the only conclusion I can reach is that the trumpers *want* the pain.  they WANT to lose their health care, they WANT to go bankrupt after a single visit to the ER.  they WANT to pay thru the nose for medicine and they WANT to see people hurting and sick with little or no escape.  they voted for this, they demanded it be done.

so the GOP types urging caution really don't have a damn thing to worry about.  go ahead, rip that sucker outta place and let the chips fall where they may.

As their constituents don't really know what Obamacare is, can't they just repeal the IRS code for the mandate and then figure out a replacement later?  Yes it isn't a great solution, but it will get the healthcare industry lobbying towards a solution.

Well if the GOP really is dumb enough to replace ObamaCare with HSAs, we're going right back to 30% premium increases every year.  Which employers *do not just absorb.*  It comes out of your raise and bonuses because it's all compensation.

Isn't the problem that this was a supreme court decision? Republicans said the mandate was unconstitutional, the court said it was a tax and therefore Congress was originally allowed to impose it (which they did). Someone who's brain hasn't been addled by facepalming for 8 years help me out.

So it begins, the media blitz that will convince the majority of Americans that Republicans never, never ever wanted to repeal Obamacare. They only ever wanted to improve it. You see basically they are repealing the Obamacare parts that make it so expensive and bad and keeping all the Affordable Health Care Act parts that are good. It's Obama, Hillary and the liberal media who are trying to confuse you and paint Republicans as the bad guys. Don't listen to them. The ACA is going to be great with just a few repeals and replacement with better parts. If you're still confused, turn on Fox News and they will help explain it to you.

The only effective stall for a GOPer is ending the Shared Cost tax (Poll Tax) on those without OCare

The biggest problem their constituents had with it is that it was called "Obamacare." They were mad that a black Democrat helped them buy insurance. Obama is about to be gone, so the political will to hurt & embarrass him by repealing it will be gone too. The problem solves itself.

Literally all they have to do is change the name and make some minor adjustment like repealing the device tax. People will still complain about premiums but they will always do that no matter what because our health care industry is a giant fraud. Republicans and solve that problem so let's just move on. I'm sure there are food stamps to cut or something.

I think a more likely explanation is that rank and file Trumpers genuinely don't have any god damn idea what Obamacare is, what it does, and how it helps them.

My ex wife is one of those people. She qualifies for basically free healthcare while she waits for her disability to go through after her accident. She hasn't even tried to fill out an application, though, and was genuinely surprised when I told her she would pay nothing for a plan.

A friend of a friend has insurance through his parents - he's 23. He is also a major Trumper who can't wait for the total and works a meaningless bullshiat job with no benefits. He refuses to believe me when I tell him that the only reason he has insurance is because of the ACA. He genuinely is convinced that being able to stay on your parent's insurance plan is normal and not related to Obamacare at all.

Then there are the legions of people who are convinced that healthcare costs are skyrocketing and that it's all the fault of Obamacare. You can show them all the data you want proving that costs are increasing slower since the ACA passed, but they will not believe it.

These people don't want to be hurt. They're just too stupid to stop sticking their dicks in the meat grinder.
