downstairs: Oh they can make the playoffs all right...

And that's enough for the fans, one playoff game so they can buy a t-shirt.  I noticed Lions playoff t-shirts at the grocery store this morning.  Evidently not everyone is buying the t-shirts; I'm not.

When you are in the same division as the Bears and Vikings, you will have a chance.

One of my favorite phrases is "the triumph of hope over experience."

Poor Lions.

That article should have ended after the opening sentence:

The Detroit Lions played six games against playoff teams this year. They lost every single one of them, and it wasn't even close by the end of the year.

She gets closer to the goal line than the Lions do.

This is the same GM that just hired Caldwell on for another year as head coach last week.

Name me one thing that happened Saturday night that makes you believe Caldwell can get it done.

Go on, I'll wait.

He made the playoffs 2 times in 3 years.  Name another recent lions coach that has done that.  Fact is, if you want to build a franchise, you don't keep firing coaches, even ones that have only barely sniffed success.  Its hard to win when your best runner and qb are injured, and the previous management couldn't mostly draft for shiat.  Give Bob Quinn another year to draft some more people and then evaluate.  I honestly do like the Lions prospects now that we have some seemingly competent management running the show, and while they will inevitably fark it all up, it will be a fun ride.

You generally dont see this kind of delusional thinking regarding the Lions until week 3 of the preseason.

Close enough

This is still a team with 6-win talent that got some luck, bad opposing coaching, great play by their one good player at key times, and still backed into a 9-7 season with an ass-whupin' in the playoffs.

I don't see them getting any better next season. They still need help on the OL, DL, at RB, TE, LB, and maybe a safety or extra corner.

Well, they didn't hire him, it's the last year of his contract.  But I agree.  Name one coach currently in the playoffs that you feel caldwell is better than.
The Lions were after whishenhunt and when he bailed they panicked and hired caldwell.

Not firing someone isn't the same as hiring them on for another year.
