Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme: "Nighty Night 2"

Description
: Photos taken at night. City lights, traffic streams, night sky, moonlit scenes, etc. Astrophotography and associated techniques (e.g. exposure stacking, etc) allowed but not required. Panoramas are ok this week, too.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Please note:
The overarching ideal behind Farktography is that image corrections are acceptable, while adding or removing elements in the image (e.g. removing telephone poles, adding Elvis) is not acceptable. Levels, curves, contrast, saturation, crop, and black-and-white conversion tools may be used judiciously, but not to cartoonish or unrealistic extremes. Avoid applying artistic filters for the purpose of mimicking film, tilt-shift, toy camera, etc type effects. HDR and panorama stitching either in-camera or in post processing are not allowed unless specified for a particular theme (true multiple exposures done in-camera are acceptable, however). See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.
- Drop by the Farktography Forum on Fark (new window) or Farktography.net (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)
- Stats can be found here.

This was one of the first shots I took with this camera, just playing with a longer exposure. The faint wisp of the Milky Way in the background was an unexpected surprise.

Elsinore: Eddie Adams from Torrance: Aw heck... I just realized that I might have submitted my spider photo in a previous contest... If that's the case, and I win the thread, I'll donate all the prize money to Charity.

Yep, it was the "What's Bugging You?" theme.  You can see your previously used entries at Farker-run Bibliostats I went ahead and removed the spider photo, so if you have something else that fits the theme, feel free to submit it!

Thanks!

Let's try this one instead then....

The Moon, taken in November, 2016.  Details. Orion 14" Dobsonian
telescope focal length 1655mm.  Eyepiece was, I think a Meade 25mm Plossl.  Picture was taken with a Nexus 6 and the "A Better Camera" app.  Seeing was average and the atmosphere was cool and on the windy side.  IF I recall, the moon was only 30° above the horizon which made the image harder to get.  The cell phone was held in place via an adapter from Explore Scientific.  Still frame taken from a movie made while the Dob tracked the moon.

In the center of the moon's disk are two bright white craters named Copernicus and Kepler.  Next to the lower and brighter of the two is a small "H" shaped shadow.  This is the International Space Station.  First time that I was able to get the ISS with a cell phone, and everything was in focus.  The whole transit took about 1.5 seconds and I managed to get roughly 30 good frames of the crossing; this was the best of the lot.

For a sense of the size of the bow, it was the span  of about 4.5 fists held at arms length or about 14 inches across.
