A 2.2L 6 cylinder? Silly Germans.
2002-01-05 11:00:55 AM
wow...that is cool...wonder how the gas mileage is?
2002-01-05 11:11:44 AM
probably .003 mpg
2002-01-05 11:29:42 AM
36 years old and only 32000 miles on it...
2002-01-05 11:32:28 AM
you know, i've been tossing around the idea of commanding troops in battle. this vehicle cinches it.
2002-01-05 12:04:58 PM
That looks like it would be fun to drive along. As long as the average trip is no more that 10 miles or so.
2002-01-05 12:32:12 PM
Who doesn't know how many doors you have on your car??? Do you honestly need to estimate!?

2002-01-05 12:36:43 PM
I'd like to see this against a Hummer. My money's still on the AM General, thank you.
2002-01-05 12:49:14 PM
What the fark is a crawl ratio?
2002-01-05 01:14:39 PM
I wonder if it's a really old movie prop......
2002-01-05 01:33:37 PM
Yes! With this vehicle in my possesion I will begin my conquest to rule the earth...MUhahhahahahhahahaha.
2002-01-05 01:33:55 PM
One word.

Pure awesomeness.

2002-01-05 01:40:17 PM
FYI it's an Unimog 404S
~ 80hp @ 2200rpm
~ 10 - 12mpg

not as fast as the Hummer but my money would be on the Unimog anyday.
2002-01-05 02:00:20 PM
Dont you mean gallons to the mile?
2002-01-05 02:08:13 PM
Crawl Ratio = 1st Gear x LoRange x Differential

a stock Jeep TJ has a 2.74:1 1st gear
2.72:1 4Lo
3.73:1 Diff

it would have a crwal ratio of 27.8:1
2002-01-05 02:12:06 PM
someone from atlanta will scoop this up quick.
2002-01-05 02:12:38 PM
BigTuna: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. That displacement can't be right...Pathos, did he get that right? A 2.2 liter engine for a vehicle that size?
2002-01-05 02:14:03 PM
I dunno. If I were one of those rich bastards that got out of the dot-coms before they imploded like a russian submarine, I'd buy one of these. Just for shiats and giggles. Really, wouldn't it turn your head to see that thing cruising down the highway on your way to work?
2002-01-05 02:26:46 PM
Ishidan: The Unimog 404S most common are the 2.2 liter
a 2.8 was optional as was a 2.4 liter diesel.

I can see a redneck now dreaming of constructing the Ultimate Mobile Deer Stand.
2002-01-05 04:13:42 PM
Unimogs aren't too uncommon in the SF bay area. Every morning on my way to work, I see two at different locations. It's the ultimate off-road vehicle, and will go anywhere that a HUMMVEE will go.

No thanks. Don't need it since I'm not going to France anytime soon.
2002-01-05 05:11:51 PM
Again, got one. I'm still looking for a Dison Sphere to complete my plan for Total Universal Domination. Anybody know where I can buy one, cheap?
2002-01-05 05:13:31 PM
Oh, darn. Did I say "Total Universal Domination"? I meant "Give Everone Candy."
2002-01-05 05:36:43 PM
Well... the wife always wanted a Mercedes.
2002-01-05 05:37:43 PM
candy, eh? i think the department of defense would be interested in hearing about this!
2002-01-05 05:47:05 PM
Oh, Lord
Won't-cha buy me
A Mercedes-Benz

I used to live near a guy who sells stuff like this out of his home. It's strange to see a house in an ordinary residential neighborhood with about four big-ass military vehicles parked there at any given time...
2002-01-05 06:23:31 PM
If a HumVee ever comes up for sale in my area I might just buy it. I dunno why I like sports cars and military vechiles but nothing inbetween.

Oh yeah, and Hondas. Hondas suck. Doesn't Honda make lawnmowers? Hmm... On the same note, doesn't Mitsubishi make rice?
2002-01-05 06:39:31 PM
Just get one of these CaptMorgan
2002-01-05 06:41:27 PM
here we go
2002-01-05 06:41:56 PM
ahh fark it
2002-01-05 09:18:37 PM
I think I saw the FBI parked outside my house in one of these...
2002-01-05 09:19:31 PM
Pathos: how the hell did they move?
(my 1991 Chevrolet sports a 4.3 liter V6, and masses, I'd say, about a third as much...this thing must be pretty slow!)
2002-01-06 09:08:19 AM
I am requesting donations because I NEED this...(not merely want..)

I would LOVE to drive that around - park it in the yard...
Take the kids to school in it...drop off my boyfriend at work (gvt. contracted job)...
