Logo - *ROFL* Oh, right. I forgot about Al Jazeera. In that case, the jig's up. The middle-east already knows all about how we Americans eat Muslim babies for breakfast. That's what gets us in the mood to rape all our (and their) women, which is why we make them wear garb that does not resemble a space-suit.
Damn Al Jazeera and their in-depth investigative reporting!

Yes, I did. The only gripe I had was that he didn't want to put in grounds troops.

How's that?

What saddam did has nothing to do with Al Jazeera. Furthermore Sadddam actually had Al Jazeera correspondents kicked out of his country for not towing his line.

Al Jazeera do not always attribute iraqi casualties to the US forces. The tend to share ther blame around pretty well. On the other hand, how many times does the US media blame US forces for casualties.

sorry Just Jim - just fed up by war being a solution.
ill be good :)

Saddam never really invaded Kuwait either.
he asked the US for permission

Now you're just being silly...

You too Blame Canada. Look up, 4 posts. thats all the long fingers on one hand, unless of course you look like I think you might, and that's all the long finders that are not webbed on one hand.

I'm sure this previous point will go sailing over your head so I will insult you further by pointing out that I am insinuating in none-too-subtle a fashion that you may be inbred.

I am also absurd.

I welcome any linkage to evidence of such claims made by Al Jazeera.

Actually Just Jim, there has been some discussion of that pojnt (about asking permission) on the fringes. the way that ful on conjecture, (Saddam may have nukes) can become full on FACT (Saddam HAS NUKES and he's GONNA BLOW US ALL UP!!!) is pretty common these days.

Other than the fact that it's what started all this twelve years of bullshiat?

Mr Logo

The US media has never denied any civilian casualties caused by our forces. Shiat happens in war. I feel sorry for our soldiers having to be so careful. But such is the way the insurgents wish to fight, blend in with the civilians where they can't go at us like they are capable of. Carpet bomb Falluja and then you biatch about it. But we haven't. Maybe we should have.

Everything, Shrub is finishing the job his limpd^h^h^h uh Dad couldn't, and justifying an upsurge in Military spending in the process, all without sending an equal increase to the troops. Good for capitalism, bad for the proles.

Discuss.

The iraqis asked the US ambasador for permission to invade iraq. While it didn't go to the top, permission was given although my understaning is that it was indirect. Something along the lines of 'whatever'.

"Whatever" from a diplomat = "go right ahead, kill them and pillage the city, you have our support?"

I think you need to find me the link to a dictionary that defines "whatever" as "You can go invade that country."

We have had rightwing radio telling us Saddam was in cahoots with Al Qaeda on 9/11

No, we have UN-SCAM proving it with documentation. Wonderful things, documents. Especially when the UN does something as monumentally stupid.

but you know, cos it's right-wing it makes it wrong.

Even a fool can tell the truth to paraphrase denbeste.

sounds logical (checks with spock) yeah. why not?

whatever is spend on the military is missing elsewhere. poverty is not a disease - it's a fact in the US.

first time i saw a person sleeping on the street was in the US. that really scared me. especially the will of others to ignore reality.

Yep, just like the French.

hoser72

The media does not need to deny such reports, only under report them. By highlighting the suicide bombings and ignoring US caused fatalities the US media is comitting the same crimes that you accuse Al Jazeera of.

Take for example the four mercinaries that were killed in fallujah. Did the US media say that the attacks were in reprisal for the US killing (accidentally) of 11 people. Does the US media question whether hundreds of civilians were killed in reprisal for this. The US media is not willing to engage in critical reporting.

The fact is, there are a million places for homeless people to seek shelter/refuge here in the states. They are just too damn lazy to do it. We americans dont hate the homeless, we hate LAZY homeless people.

Just as soon as you link to a dictionary that say that whatever means the 'The US does not support the invasion of any nation and forbids you from taking any such action'

The point is that while the US amabasador did not give explicit permission, she didn't make any attempt to rule it out.

As a Muslim and an Arab I was all for getting rid of Saddam. I even made plans to rejoin my army if Mubarak decided to deploy to Iraq.

However this is obnoxious, what has surfaced here makes me mad beyond comprehension. The damage that has been done by the actions of these soldiers is irreversible. You have no idea how insensitive and offensive these pictures are to an Arab or a Muslim! Anyone of those men would rather take a bullet to the head then be subjected to what we see in these pictures.

In a culture where honor is everything; much more important than money, social status etc. These pictures do nothing but back the claim that the US is in Iraq to only dishonor the Muslim and the Iraqi people.

The fact that the US soldiers are saying they were not exposed to the Geneva Convention is bullshiat. At a holding camp for child guerrillas in Sierra Leon, 15 year olds would come to me and claim I was in violation of the Geneva Convention if their meals were so much as an hour late!

As someone who has spent two years here and had previously built up a great deal of admiration and respect for this country and its people, I am appalled.

Mr Logo: It's intentional hyperbole. Making a point with exaggeration, ya know? Obviously I'm not referring to an actual article.

(However, replace "Americans" with "Jews" on the first count and I actually wouldn't be shocked to see that headline for real)

Just which cave (sounds like it may be on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border) is it that you get all of your Al Jezeera reports beamed into?

You miss the whole point. If the insurgents weren't using their current tactics civilians wouldn't be in the way. Don't blame the USA, if they would lay down their arms all would be solved.

Good, if that is indeed the truth: that you supported Bill Clinton 100% in prosecuting that war, then you are not a bleeding hypocrite like the majority of Bush supporters. Who were, in fact, against that war. I guess they just hated America.

Oh, and those who attacked Wesley Clark for wanting to send in ground troops.

Well you see - that'
s the question of the hour. This scam has been around for a few months and what little traction it's getting has been hard fought. It's true and it is a huge deal. But no one wants to carry it. So you tell me? A left-wing conspiracy? A deal worked out? I don't have the answers. I know it (the scam) exists and is covered by some major news outlets. Read Paul Martin's (canada) speech from this week. If he's advocating pulling out of the UN - you know it's bad.

As to your last phrase. No.

Look at how crazy we've gotten over the war in iraq. hell, now ever afghanistan was wrong in some people's eyes.

No we definetly aren't mature enough.

To get back to the subject, does anyone know exactly what is being done to try and deal with this crap? What sort of investigation is taking place, who is being held for questioning, that sort of thing?
As I've said before, the real measure of how well this incident represents the US military at large is how it is handled. Are those guilty found and punished to the extent of the law, or are there simply a lot of half-ass toungue-lashings and strategic transfers?
That's what I'd like to know. Everything else is secondary to this matter.

There's an investigation going on and will most likely result in a court-martial. It's been ongoing for a while now. It's only now caught on with the major outlets.

Extent of the law, amigo.

Jim, I think you need to make a short walking tour of those millions of places in your local city before you make that statement. (uhh oh...Your Ignorance is showing)

Truth is, just like that "Who wants a horrible job like that" crap I hear about the jobs that the Government makes (like recycling centers) I return with "Who wants to live in the prison that is the Capitalist-Run flop House" Dickensian is only a small corner of describing it.

Imagine a federal prison (in many cases) populated by crazies and no hopers. That is the shelter in may cities. Instead of a helping hand, many of these shelters are millstones on the necks of the unlucky, untalented and insane.

The so-called lazy, homeless, are just the most insane.

If you don't believe the unlucky line, just look at your own president. The man was a C-Student with all the best tutors that money could buy (which he didn't use as far as I can tell) but still manages to stumble into the white house in the end, this is no come from behind victory. He was born into money; a great example of luck of birth if you ask me. Now if you want the opposite example, ask about that guy who was raised by a single mom from the REAL heartland of America and you'll see how real hard work pays off.

Now for those unlucky many, there are people who are born into cycles of poverty. Mom and Dad are poor, and set bad examples for their kids. The kids didn't choose this way of life, they were born into it. They don't get to look outside of their own life in any meaningful fashion because there are no real opportunities to do so. they are sometimes discouraged frm even trying, by their peers and even society. They grow up with f'd up values, mostly greed and self-interest, coupled with crippling ignorance. Then they leave texas and all is well. (Did you read this far?)

I do Rant on, don't I?

2004-04-30 11:44:45 PM
Anyone consider that these POW's may have been misbehaving and being punished? Since it would be wrong to really torture them, the guards made up some creative ways to deal with them.
