Reality is a crutch for people who can't handle drugs.

2004-04-29 02:20:07 AM
I'm gonna start cutting it with water and baby aspirin and make bank! Oh wait, that's Pepsi.

2004-04-29 02:46:47 AM
Oh sure, it's all fun and games, as long as it's not happening in Hollywood...

2004-04-29 04:39:19 AM
Ah, Coke sucks anyway.

/duck and cover

2004-04-29 04:42:41 AM

2004-04-29 05:08:28 AM
agreed. coke sucks.

2004-04-29 05:17:50 AM
Unless there's a beer shortage someone needs to STFU.

2004-04-29 05:32:17 AM
I used to be a merchandiser for Pepsi, drive around in a Pepsi van to grocery stores, pull pallets of soda out of the stockrooms, and fill the shelves. All the Coke merchandisers were pretty cool guys. It's those Dr.Pepper/7up merchandisers you had to look out for..Weird bunch

cocaine is helluva drug

2004-04-29 06:00:15 AM
Alrighty, let's place our bets now on how many yutzes don't bother reading existing comments and type a variation on "Cocaine is a hell of a drug," thinking they are the height of wittiness and originality.
There's already two.

2004-04-29 06:05:58 AM
You've gotta be on crack to prefer Coke to Pepsi.

Yes, I did RTFA, fully expecting a soda-related article. A "cocaine shortage" would be referred to in the press as "winning the war on drugs" and headline would probably be political flamebait.

2004-04-29 07:04:19 AM
Sorry SimuLord, not into a cola that puts more sweetener than actual flavor.

/hates Pespi...prefers old Coke with the coke in it

2004-04-29 07:04:37 AM
You've gotta be on crack to prefer Pepsi to Coke.

I RTFA too.

100 years ago they went on strike to make enough money to feed their families while not getting crushed in heavy machinery. Now they strike for "respect". Unions are obsolete.

2004-04-29 07:33:53 AM
That's why you don't see as many labor unions down here in the South. Someone's going to get a beat down if they keep me from my morning caffeine.

How's this Evil homer?

/Caffeine is a helluva drug, biatch

2004-04-29 07:37:43 AM
You gotta be on crack to have this be a news story.

2004-04-29 07:47:17 AM
The only thing worse than a teamster is a teamster who deprives me of Coke. Labor unions need to die.

/thinks Pepsi is one step above a bag of stale urine

2004-04-29 07:48:22 AM
ooh, this would not be a good thing.

<~~~ must have diet vanilla coke.

My closest encounter with a labor dispute:

I was driving home on a city street when I saw some guys with signs standing on the median. Next time traffic stopped one of them came up to my window and asked me not to buy beer while they were on strike. (This was in Cambridge, Mass. about ten years ago.)

2004-04-29 08:12:11 AM
Eww Coke.

/Cracks open a Pepsi

2004-04-29 08:14:00 AM
When I was a child growing up in the '80s, I scoffed at the dangers of becoming a "cokehead", because I drank it all the time, and the worst it ever did was make me burp.

2004-04-29 08:17:23 AM
online coke sales overload srever.
canadian "coke dealers" reaping the benifits

2004-04-29 08:24:26 AM
My supermarket is out of Coke.. At least they're honoring the Coke sale prices for Pepsi products.

2004-04-29 08:40:27 AM
Maybe this will help philly lose the fatest city in America title.

2004-04-29 08:40:39 AM

/obscure?

2004-04-29 08:49:39 AM
harm4u2, get gimp. It's the same as Photoshop (not really, but who cares). Download and install this and then this.

2004-04-29 08:56:54 AM
Maybe all those soft, pasty, white, turkey meat bellies
will shrink now with the shortage... Tis a sick thing for us humans to be constantly consuming unnatural intakes. I'm positive some day we as a race we'll revert back to the way our bodies intended to live.

2004-04-29 09:05:44 AM
Apparently, Philly doesn't have the thong wearing fatty cocaine smuggling mules.

*RTFA*

Oh this is an article on Teamster's union on strike that delivers Coca-Cola. My bad

/Union's on the way out

Don't worry kids, they will up production in time for summer.

Besides, Heroin is the choice of the new generation.

Only communists and child molesters prefer Pepsi over Coke.

Preface: I love Coke, and drink it regularly. Pepsi... not so much.

Point: Whoever sold people on the fact that it was a good idea to drinking a substance that can actually EAT a metal screw in (insert ridiculously short length of time here) hours, was a genius.

Question: Any ideas on how the hell Coke started selling to the masses - like, was it a byproduct of something else, that they threw an ishload of sugar in?

/too lazy to go to coke websites to search historical questions

Now if I had html privileges, I would have posted this image with my above comment

In retrospect, the whole Preface/Point/Question thing looks pretty gay.

My apologies.

/retreats back into cave. feeling woosy.

docfu: Sorry to break it to you, but the urban legend about Coke dissolving nails/screws/teeth/steak/etc is just that, an urban legend.

2004-04-29 09:56:48 AM
Moooshy, I thought pepsi, not coke, was stocked pretty much everyone campus. Of course I don't drink much soda so I don't pay too much attention.

2004-04-29 10:01:20 AM
cherry coke, yumm

2004-04-29 10:07:10 AM
Man - this thread is like the cola wars all over again.

I remember the cola wars. Man - I live through them. It was the 80's, and the country was ravaged by commercials. Secret weapons were unveiled and used, and Bill Cosby was doing propaganda. A much blacker Michael Jackson was the victim of a terrible a-splosion.

It was a dark time. You kids think you know what terror is these days. But I survived the Cola Wars, and life hasn't been the same since.

2004-04-29 10:13:35 AM
Please have some compassion for all of us in the Philly/burbs area. I stopped into my local smoke filled private redneck club last nite and had to alter my order to Capt'n N Ginger Ale. This whole situation is becoming a quagmire

2004-04-29 10:14:37 AM
Coke vs Pepse? I must be one of the few that actually buys whatever is on sale at the grocery store.
