Hey.... What other job could ya get where ya go to school for 6 years, get out...make 6 figures, be wrong more than 50% of the time and not worry about losing your job?
I think if the rest of us were wrong that much...we'd be at the unemployment office

Put the weathermen here in Michigan on trial! We need more snow. Heck, I've only had to plow the driveway twice.

Al Roker, Ira Joe Fisher, & Sam Champion should be locked up in solitary.
Roker and Fisher could use the diet, and Champion would love the whole gang rape thing.

The guy's an idiot. He couldn't get past $15,000 or something on a recent celebrity edition of Brazilian "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

Also, he's into some cooky religion too.

Those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it.

They will just drive them underground.

A beautiful, topless, young weatherwoman? I could think of quite a few punishments... :P

I realize that most of these comments are satirical or sarcastic in nature. However, come on. "All" a meteorologist does is use historical data, knowledge about conditions, and knowledge of what factors are present in various weather events to make a PREDICTION of what the weather MAY be on a given day. There is still no way to say with any degree of certainty what the weather will be. Prosecution for "false alarm" is absolutely asinine in this case. A false alarm is when someone pulls a fire alarm when there is no fire. The person who pulls that alarm is working with facts- either there is a fire or there isn't. When he reports that there is a fire, and there actually isn't one, he is telling a lie- a very dangerous one that could cause emergency personnel to be needlessly diverted when a real emergency occurs. A weatherman, when he says "I predict that there will be rain tomorrow" is not saying "there will definitely be rain tomorrow." He is saying "Past data and current factors make it likely that there will be rain tomorrow, however, there could actually be sun and clear skies."

Also, contrary to popular belief, most meteorologists are not high- paid, underworked goof- offs who give the weather reports on T.V. Most work for government and independent agencies for long hours at more "reasonable" salaries. Also, weather forecasters are not "wrong" 50% of the time. They are statisticians who use their knowledge and training to come up with a probability, rather than a certainty. A weatherman is wrong when his data show that there is likely to be rain and cold, and he says that it's going to be sunny and hot.

did someone say Roker? It's Al Roker Time!

My Fellow greek, I was about to write that same message you wrote. I would also add how people conveniently forget the times when the weather service is right, which is nearly always on a 24 hour forecast.
