damn pansies.... learn how to drive. bunch o' pussies.
2002-01-03 08:43:03 AM
The entire state of Vermont is laughing at you.
2002-01-03 08:44:56 AM
No we're not.
2002-01-03 08:45:34 AM
Ah, yes, must be Global Warming....
2002-01-03 08:45:35 AM
Maybe not, but Northern Michigan is.
2002-01-03 08:48:49 AM
We need snow in London now. Everything grinds to a halt when it happens in the south of this country as well. BTW snow isn't lame.

One thing in Georgia is still working:

"I want to plow that Jane Fonda"
2002-01-03 08:49:10 AM
And we still haven't gottan any snow at all in Maryland? WTF?
2002-01-03 08:49:15 AM
Quiet, you.
2002-01-03 08:50:33 AM
I'm tired of people ragging the South for not being able to drive in snow. We don't get much snow here, therefore we don't get a lot of practice. We don't have snow tires, snow chains, or 2 bajillion snowplows that can clear the streets. Get over it.

Actually, I drove into work this morning, and guess what? All the steep hills had sand on them, and I saw not a single accident, and everyone was driving slowly. I see no problems here.

Besides, we all laugh at the Vermonters who come down here and constantly complain about and have heat strokes in summer. Like 95 degrees with 95% humidity is hot or something. ;-) Our lips start cracking when the humidity gets below kidding.
2002-01-03 08:53:13 AM
Half a foot of snow and that crap leads the national newscasts this morning with locals syaing how burdensome the weather fiasco/state of emergency is on them. Buffalo gets twelve times that and it barely raises an eyebrow with the locals. Bunch of wimps.
2002-01-03 08:54:33 AM
Buffalo? Yeah, it shouldn't even phase them let alone barely raise an eyebrow.
2002-01-03 08:55:20 AM
We got about 5?? of snow here in Greenville. Personally, I like it; it's a really nice change of pace. I mean I really hate living in the south, but it's not my choice, yet at least. And hey, it's not my fault if the morons venturing out of the trailer park because the booze is running out and w/o it their 300 pound whore wives look even more repulsive can't drive in snow.
2002-01-03 08:55:32 AM
I have been stuck here at work since 5pm on Wednesday... I am finally now able to leave... and its 9am in the farking morning.
2002-01-03 08:55:40 AM
In other news, many Maryland schools have been shut down b/c there was a slight dusting through part of the state.

As Buffalo gently weeps.
2002-01-03 08:58:08 AM
Yep Code_A and I have been here all night.. damnit.
But on the other hand, Hey all your GA people we really do need to get a Atlanta Fark Party going..

off to home I go.
2002-01-03 08:58:44 AM
its like homney grits from heaven! dern things turn to water when you heat em'.
2002-01-03 08:59:21 AM
yep, we're working on 2 to 4 inches of snow down here in Central Georgia and it's still snowing too. i'm supposed to be at work now but i'm lounging around here at the house surfing around on FARK while most of ya'll are at work laughing at me, yes, at work laughing at me...he who won't have to burn a vacation day on "snow day".

Now, i must disagree with Adm_crunch. According to my local newspaper we get snow all the time. We've had an inch or more 25 times in the last 100 years.

how's work going today up north ya'll?
2002-01-03 09:00:25 AM
6 feet is required to shut things down where I live -- all at once. If it doesn't turn your car into a snowbank, it's not enough. Fair is fair though -- these guys don't get much snow -- hardly any, if at all, in a year. How can one expect them to drive through the stuff?
2002-01-03 09:01:28 AM
Sethor, look outside. well, if you live in southern maryland like meself, then look outside.
2002-01-03 09:02:32 AM
Well, it's not so much snow, the problem is that the snow on the roads melts and then freezes, forming a layer of ice on the road, that's a lot harder to drive in.
2002-01-03 09:02:54 AM
*how's work going today up north ya'll?

Well up here it's quite common and generally lucrative.
2002-01-03 09:09:16 AM
What a crazy and weird fark link this is!!! Oh wait, it's just a plain old stupid story.
2002-01-03 09:09:23 AM
Oh relax, I live in Georgia (and posted the article) and I think it's amusing. I know we aren't prepared for it, so I'm working from home. I just see stories about 7 or 8 FEET in Buffalo, and 6 or 7 inches just seems kinda funny.

Hey Code, I went to school with one of the guys who started White Wolf. What do you do for them?
2002-01-03 09:10:03 AM
Tommybob: "how's work going today up north ya'll?"

Well, it's a slow news day. It's snowing outside, and beckons me to come & play. But I have to sit here at my desk doing nothing.
2002-01-03 09:14:27 AM
Wimps. You can't drive 80mph in the snow!
2002-01-03 09:16:17 AM
Says who?
2002-01-03 09:18:03 AM
Hey, use this opportunity to have some fun, Georgia. Take your cars out and find snow banks to slide into. If you got rear wheel drive, even better. Make the best of it.
2002-01-03 09:20:26 AM
Kenh: Were you thinking of a grey elephant in Denmark?
2002-01-03 09:20:59 AM
I grew up there and I can see how they cant drive in the snow. Drivers there are psychotic to begin with. So all of you who have to deal with the indy drivers on the Der Cobb Autobahn (aka I-75) I salute you.
2002-01-03 09:21:54 AM
From CNN:

America Strikes Back:
A Winter Wonderland, Southern style! A winter storm causes trouble in Dixie -- we'll take you to the hardest hit areas.

LOL! Didn't know America needed to strike back at snow in GA...
2002-01-03 09:23:39 AM
BigP: Look back in that thread.
2002-01-03 09:26:59 AM
Damn, I live in metro Atlanta, and the only way to see the road in front of my house is to see where other cars have left their tire marks and just hope that they were going in the right direction.
2002-01-03 09:28:40 AM
one of my favorite memories is sliding down a Pittsburgh hill a month after getting my drivers license. solid sheet of ice. Winter driving makes life more exciting.
2002-01-03 09:29:50 AM
Yeah, it's funny to laugh at the people here down south who can't drive in snow. It's funny because people died....yeah. Good job everyone.
2002-01-03 09:31:55 AM
i just mite go build me a snow woman.
2002-01-03 09:32:40 AM
Well, like I said, it's not so much the snow, or that it requires driving skill (Though that is a factor), I think it's that here the temperature varies so much during the day, it goes from below 32 to above quickly, thus the snow melts then freezes, especially on the roads. North, one can usually plow the road and be done with it, but here when it snows, we have to deploy salt trucks to melt all the ice.
2002-01-03 09:35:30 AM
well, i'm in atlanta & i made it to work just fine. of course, work is closed so i'm going home. bye.
2002-01-03 09:36:02 AM
ATLian FARK Party is in the works...i'm gonna build a page with a poll for club/bar options...the place that wins will be the place we go to. Expect the throw-down around late Feb. or March (so it won't conflict with any other FarkFests).

oh, I decided not to go to work today...I prolly could've made it, but why risk it? Plus, I like to sleep.

2002-01-03 09:37:32 AM
Jasonp55: Nope, we use sand and salt all the time. Makes for rusty under-carriages.
2002-01-03 09:39:06 AM
Shud B Workin : Maybe us Northerners have a plan to send Sherman back down to burn all the snow out of the South?
2002-01-03 09:39:41 AM
Yeah, I bet.
But you have to admit, ice is alot harder to drive on than snow, I mean I'm not saying that SC isn't full of morons who can't drive, but you can't really expect them to.
2002-01-03 09:41:24 AM
What?? All these people with their "must have 4wd" SUVs can't make it through a little bit of snow?? Losers.
2002-01-03 09:42:22 AM
Jasonp55: You're right, ice is alot harder to drive on than snow. Ask some folks up here about their ice storms, or about refreezing, or other fun little messes we get. The only excuse in the south for bad winter driving is a lack of experience. :)
2002-01-03 09:43:06 AM
"Oops, I seem to have burned and destroyed my podium"
2002-01-03 09:43:41 AM
Nah, it's mainly these "Gotta support America" people and their big-ass Crysler, Fords, and Cevrolets, who can't drive.
2002-01-03 09:43:48 AM
I don't think anyone will get that.
2002-01-03 09:44:16 AM
That's so very, very sad. Atlanta now has more snow than Madison, Wisconsin.

I'm going to go cuddle my skis and tell them that I still love them, there's just not enough snow to take them out.
2002-01-03 09:44:38 AM
Quote from CNN:

"All over Alabama looks like a white Christmas. Everything is white, and it's still coming down," said Lisa Cazeno, who was driving south between Opelika and Montgomery on Interstate 85. "It looks like grits in a fan."
2002-01-03 09:45:31 AM
