Buy SIRI stock. I did when it was $2.80 after the Terrorist attacks. It's hovering around $10 now.
2002-01-03 12:23:49 AM
How the hell do I join? I signed up for it, but I don't know how to join Fark. Grrrrrrrr.
2002-01-03 12:24:49 AM

Alrighty. I'm in. I just bought 10,000 shares of Jack Chick Ministries. Wish me luck!!!
2002-01-03 12:47:16 AM
SIRI is an overpriced dog with fleas. The market just isn't there for XM recievers. Until I see XM radio as standard equipment in all cars -- this company is in for rough times.

Extremely overvalued.

Kmart(KM) is your answer -- trading at close to their 1971 levels right now. New CEO and backend modernization should improve performance after the 1st quarter next year.
2002-01-03 12:50:45 AM
I haven't a clue about stocks, but i'll give this a shot. Weeeeeee.
2002-01-03 12:55:31 AM
Kmart looks good for a long term holding, but I don't think it's going to win you any contests. I'd look for something with a high beta and insider trading that has lost 10% of its value or more in the past week.
2002-01-03 01:14:02 AM
That's not the *real* Jelloboy who's in first place, is it ... ????
2002-01-03 01:17:29 AM
Okay, Bigpeeler, I've got my number, country, animal and color. What am I thinking of?
2002-01-03 01:39:38 AM
I've joined, and I sense good things about my stocks!
2002-01-03 01:43:12 AM
I'd be really surprised if that was the real jellotroll.

2002-01-03 01:44:55 AM
Buy SIRI now, before the opening debut, and then sell it all after the initial price spike. I did it with XMSR, and I'll do it with SIRI.

I agree with you Click. The stock is hideously overvalued.

For something good: FCS. I have 150 shares, since it was $11.90...
2002-01-03 01:45:04 AM
average performance -2.52%

woo hoo

2002-01-03 02:17:25 AM
Argh... i didn't sell in time! i would have made a killing.
2002-01-03 02:19:16 AM
Wooooowhoooooooo, I just joined and made my first purchase. Commerce Bancorp (CBH). I work there and the stock just split about a week ago. Its down around 38 and is expected to go back up fast.
2002-01-03 02:27:24 AM
yeah i lost about 4000 on america west holdings (AWA)
2002-01-03 02:32:46 AM

This macworld is sposta be big. Is this the big thing? or something else. I dunno. Other possibilites are Mac OS X running on PCs (the core system already does; early versions of the system did). A new generation of processor could be released now, with near-equal GHz and double the speed of Pentiums. The more mundane new generation of iMacs and iBooks are certain; whether or not the new iMacs will be built around an LCD monitor is speculation (but likely given official statements). But whatever comes, Apple could go way up. After the 1998 and 1999 Mac World conventions their stock doubled. I think it's undervalued right now anyway.
2002-01-03 03:13:22 AM
Wow, how in the hell did I get in the top 10?
2002-01-03 03:14:51 AM
I'm putting all my money in Wang Laboratories. Sure, it hasn't gone anywhere for two years, but I'll have some big WANG stock. Heh heh heh.
2002-01-03 03:24:18 AM
(past history is no indicator of future performance.)
2002-01-03 03:47:03 AM
yay, i got a total of a .11% return... at least i didnt end up like that other guy who lost everything.
2002-01-03 04:20:45 AM
I thought I read that it didn't start until the 7th Jan. ????
2002-01-03 04:23:57 AM
Yup, I'm confused. I just tried to trade and it won't let me until 7th Jan.

Momma always sed I should have been a capitalist and my Poppa too.
The preacher at the chapel and the teacher at the school.
My bank manager sed: "Son, we got a job for you,
Just go down on ol' Satans dick and taste his greenback goo"

I barely have enough time with fark, let alone the attention that real stock picking requires.
2002-01-03 06:38:51 AM
Kenh A gray elephant in Denmark.
2002-01-03 08:06:36 AM
Only 42? I should have stayed away from that Eron and Priceline stock. Never listen to your grandfather's stock tips, remember that they caused the great depression.
2002-01-03 08:26:15 AM
Nope, an emu.
2002-01-03 09:47:38 AM

2002-01-03 11:03:58 AM
Message Board to use unless FARK plans on having a thread every day for this thing

Of course, I'm 159 out of 160 too. Pretty lame when people who didn't even buy any stock are beating you :)
2002-01-03 11:21:44 AM
problem with VSE is you just need a real time quote feed to beat the system. quotes are delayed over 20 minutes on VSE so you see a stock moving and you enter limit orders accordingly knowing 20 minutes later the price is going to move on VSE. I saw MSFT quotes delayed 40 minutes!

problem is VSE is also buggy as hell, I entered limit orders and it executed me on a canceled trade. mofo's!
2002-01-03 11:28:56 AM
message board linked above is farked, need to work on it later ..

by the way, nice call on apple.. not
2002-01-03 12:10:19 PM
just bought a million shares of ENRON.

woo hoo!
2002-01-03 12:42:16 PM
im not very literate when it comes to stocks so i just went to and bought whatever looked good.
2002-01-03 01:07:54 PM
darn... where's @Home? I wanted to buy a ton of ATHM stock.

Security Companies (NOT Securities, but actual companies who sell metal detectors and suck), though obviously small caps, are good buys right now. most of them are moving very regularly toward their former peaks, which would be a good point to sell.

Also apple will be a good this next week. I agree. It always shoots up a few days before or after macworld, depending on what gets leaked. Just remember in these games you want immediate performance. so get in and out of apple quick.

I'm gonna be playing Security and Telecomm (including wireless) stocks. Maybe I'll get lucky.
2002-01-03 01:10:14 PM
why am i not showing up on the rankings? is it because i just registered?
2002-01-03 01:16:57 PM
For wireless telecom check out Spectralink (SLNK). They manufacture, sell, and support in-house wireless telephone systems for officer buildings, hospitals, an such.

It's a champ...a real steal at below $20.
2002-01-03 01:30:38 PM
I am making a nice chunk of change on Intel's rise .. wish I had bought more than a lame 500 shares
2002-01-03 01:58:37 PM
Just jumped in. I'll probably be in last place by tomorrow
2002-01-03 03:08:48 PM
a word for those not skilled in the "stock market": Buy Low, Sell High.
