2002-01-02 12:37:13 AM
America still even gets the best snow storms. God bless us, every one.
2002-01-02 12:38:21 AM
Yeah who cares about Melbourne? We're burning up here in Sydney!
2002-01-02 12:41:37 AM
That's nothing. We had snow in Austin tonight and more is expected. The apocalypse is at hand.
2002-01-02 12:46:08 AM
It would be funny if it wasn't so serious

not nice to laugh at others problems.... bad kitty
2002-01-02 12:47:29 AM
It may snow in Houston tonight, but if not, I am torching something.
2002-01-02 12:49:19 AM
Ok guys I know that in America you's have all sorts of weather conitions but hey Australia is not that big and to have our weather this way is quite weird to us....Snow in Melbourne...huh crazy stuff...but all the fires in sydney is scarey...we are actually burning up...we are also smoked out...
Our firefighters have not even been able to have a Christmas or new year the poor guy's..
2002-01-02 12:49:19 AM
Wellll, I can say it's cold down here in Melbourne.. but I'm enjoying it...
2002-01-02 12:52:09 AM
We aren't that small.. about 2/3 the size of the U.S..
2002-01-02 12:56:17 AM
It is cold here in Houston. I slapped a mosquito and it shattered.

2002-01-02 12:58:27 AM
that is still quite small in comparison..but anyways we are still alot bigger than England...I did not think we were 2/3 the size of America..I thought about half...but I am dumb when it comes to that stuff ;)
2002-01-02 12:58:48 AM
Well, I really enjoy spending My summers freezing my freakin arse off................stupid lousy no good cold weather ruining my beer drinking time........
2002-01-02 12:59:25 AM
Summer was supposed to start December in Melbourne. Normally by Christmas day we have temperatures in the high-20's, low-30's (degrees).

Right now it is 4pm in the afternoon on January the 2nd and it's 18.5 degrees, showers, rain, cold.

If anyone sees Mother Nature rip her a new asshole for me.

2002-01-02 01:03:42 AM
The funny thing is is that it is winter here, but since this is Houston it will probably get into the 70's or 80's next week. I will do my best to keep everyone posted.

After spending 3 years in the hellhole known as Brisbane, I am loving this unusual weather...
2002-01-02 01:11:14 AM
Where is Brisbane? In fact, where is Melbourne and Sydney? Are they right next to each other or something?

I distinctly remember my hot geography teacher back in HS tell me that Australia is about the same size as the continental US, Alaska doesn't count on a lot of levels.
...spoken like a true Texan

Also isn't arson the cause for all this misery, capital punishment is a good thing at times.
2002-01-02 01:25:50 AM
Ah. That helps a lot.
[image from too old to be available]
I am waving, but you can't see me because I am under a cloud.
2002-01-02 01:32:24 AM
I think theres about 20 people been arrested so far for arson..
2002-01-02 01:33:02 AM
Traditionally, it doesn't snow in summer. But then again, Melbourne weather is notorious - if you don't like it, just wait a few minutes.
2002-01-02 01:38:32 AM
I also think that QUANTAS stands for Queensland and North Territories Air Service. Pretty damn smert for an ignrant redneck from Texas, I think?

Grivas Have you looked into USA or their contractor's IT depaerments? Or are they being flooded from Enron exes?
2002-01-02 01:39:31 AM
Sydney's finest are doing what they're paid for - to fight fires! They are real heroes. Since sept 11 they've been getting a lot of praise, and good for them!
2002-01-02 01:42:56 AM
I actually have folks on the "inside" checkin out stuff at USA, but they and the rest of NASA pretty much have a hiring freeze. I am beating the bushes in the petrochemical side in the stinkier venues (i.e., Baytown, La Porte, Texas City and Pasa-git-down-dena). But yeah, Enron folks are flooding the market much like the Compaq people did months ago.
2002-01-02 01:44:25 AM
Bumjube I just hope the penalties are extrememly severe for it. My neighbor's house which burned when I lived in San Amtonio told me that of all the things she missed are the pictures. She said its like not having any known existance prior to the fire. Have a couple with her and she'll still breakdown and cry and that was over 10 years ago.
My best for all concerned.
2002-01-02 01:44:43 AM
Of course, not forgetting those volunteers from other states who have given up their holidays with their families to go help.. I have a few friends up there..
2002-01-02 01:46:12 AM
Lets hope this happens
2002-01-02 01:46:25 AM
Johnny_weasel: But then again, Melbourne weather is notorious - if you don't like it, just wait a few minutes.

I thought that reference was only used by Mainers...?

Good to see farking unpredictable weather patterns farking up other regions as well!
2002-01-02 01:47:27 AM
Grivas: you rang?

well.. the sun is now shining in melbourne.. i love this stuff. today i got in my car, and had to turn my wipers on "low"... 100m later i turned them on "high".. 300m later i turned them off and opened my window because the sun came out :)
2002-01-02 01:52:37 AM
And you didn't stop in for coffee?
2002-01-02 01:56:05 AM
Bumjube: I used to get given "jube" lollies from my grandmother when i visited her... your name kinda scares me off :)
2002-01-02 01:56:53 AM
Ch00k: Stop typing and drive you idiot!
2002-01-02 01:58:30 AM
Nothing like a black sky and red sun to make a cold crownie go down better. Cheers to all firies and damn I'm sick of all this smoke! 37 degrees at sunset lastnite and about the same now. At least I've got a great tan. Hang in there Mount Bowen.
2002-01-02 01:58:50 AM
Bumjube Having been to the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) Burn Unit too many times, it is the scariest, most tragic and most heroic places I have ever seen in my life. It will change them and their apologies and regret will seem trivial.

BTW Isn't summer for y'all down under? The snow must be a real freakin event?
2002-01-02 01:59:04 AM

I put stuffing up chooks bums... and you don't scare me...
2002-01-02 02:02:00 AM
Jefferson: yes, the snow is an event... yes its supposed to be summer... and here's hoping it will be by the time i go to Mildura in a couple of weeks.

Grivas: at least i dont drive on the wrong side of the road!
2002-01-02 02:02:09 AM
I scream like a... well, like a girl when I burn my finger on the iron... I wouldn't be able to bear having to go through something like that...
2002-01-02 02:05:23 AM
I drive on the right side, which in fact is the right side of the road. Of course your steering wheel is on the wrong side, your summer comes in winter, not to mention that you are also upside-down. By that logic, I hope all of your snow doesn't burst into flame.
2002-01-02 02:07:20 AM
I think it's funny when Americans drive over here, because when they think they are going to indicate, they turn on the windscreen wipers instead...
2002-01-02 02:07:42 AM
Bumjube: I'm also scared by the fact that the photo in your profile makes it look like you have a tattoo of the Y! logo.
2002-01-02 02:09:15 AM
Thankyou bigtime to the Canadians for the lend of their firefighting helitanker. It has helped to prevent hundreds of homes from rocks.

2002-01-02 02:17:29 AM
ChOOk Where is Mildura next to on Bumjube's map below? Is that the resort/happenin place for Aussies to go on vacation?

BTW Where's Ozzie? Awfully quiet of her.
2002-01-02 02:18:26 AM
