I'm a disobedient heathen. Movies taught me everything I know.

2001-12-28 10:10:13 PM
Tax write-off? Count me in.....!!

What the fark?

Just checking in and saying hello....I'll keep my personal business outta this thread....happy?!

2001-12-28 10:11:31 PM
The REAL quote:

A delightful and innovative, sometimes uncomfortable imaginative work of animation art brought some life to this colorful spree into the lives of elementary school kids.

It did not say "uncomfortably imaginative." If you put something in quote marks, it's a QUOTE! You can't fark with it!

Funny: The HTML title (visible in the window's title bar" says JIMMY NEURON.

2001-12-28 10:12:27 PM
The last time I was "uncomfortably imaginative" the night ended with a trip to the emergency room and a rather intricate fib explaining all the baby oil and gerbils.

Movies had nothing to do with it. Well, technically they are not called "movies."

2001-12-28 10:15:07 PM
The article didn't seem to disapprove of the movie as much as the tagline. I say if you're kids are able to talk you into seeing this p.o.s. they're already disobedient heathens.

"flame retardant from the anus of a robot dog"

flame retardant comes from a different part of a real dog, so i guess this part is an insult to dog...er.. god.

2001-12-28 10:18:15 PM
Did anyone else catch this:

* Offense to God (O)(2):
* "Human and monkey DNA only differ by 2%"

Wait, let me get this straight, now well know and documented (and fairly undisputed, I might add) scientific fact are upsetting fundies? What losers.

2001-12-28 10:19:14 PM
> flame retardant from the anus of a robot dog

Has the CAP reviewer been smoking something, or...?

> Offense to God (O):
> "Human and monkey DNA only differ by 2%"

Can't have those messy facts getting in the way of their dogma, now can we? How is that even an "offense" to their God? Because it hints at evolution? Is there something in the Bible that says monkey DNA isn't at all like humans?

2001-12-28 10:22:00 PM
And Jeebus said onto Jobus, 'thou art not a monkey'

Genebis, chapter 9 verse 13

2001-12-28 10:26:28 PM
Funny thing I took both my kids to see this movie today and we laughed our asses off!

comedy gold I tell ya!

2001-12-28 10:26:41 PM

2001-12-28 10:30:47 PM
It looks as if they almost liked it. That's unnerving...

2001-12-28 10:31:56 PM
i try to defacate green when ever i can!

2001-12-28 10:32:54 PM

Mytwocents:It is your personal business that makes me happy. That means the answer to your question is NO.

Evenin', Doe.

2001-12-28 10:38:50 PM
Another day, another cheap laugh, courtesy of CAPAlert. Chew on this, though...

How many of these people are raising children???

Now back to laughing at the funny CAP people.

2001-12-28 10:40:55 PM
I hate zealots... If the bible didn't so heavily condemn violence, they'd be just as militant and evil as Islamic Fundamentalists.

"It's against my religion to impose my religion". HA!!! That's funny...

2001-12-28 10:45:12 PM
The Kuran condemns violence too. And nearly all religions have been militant, at times.

2001-12-28 10:45:33 PM
How many of those people are raising children from the dead is what I wanna know.

2001-12-28 10:48:04 PM
Evenin', Doe. me Hytes?

Is there a movie Cap finds non offensive to anyone?

2001-12-28 10:50:24 PM
Is there a movie Cap finds non offensive to anyone?

"Mary Poppins", the magical witch that they decide to ignore as a MAGIC USING TOOL OF SATAN and declare he as "angelic."

2001-12-28 10:51:35 PM
Er, declares *she* is angelic. Almost turned her into Barry Poppins.

D'oh, nevermind, it should be "declares her as angelic.

2001-12-28 10:51:54 PM
Hum, well Human and Cat DNA are only about 15% different, do fundies get pissed about that? Hey, even Humans and Bananas share about 50% of the same DNA, goodness fundies must be exploding with anger, damn that evil unchristian DNA, what with all its facts and evidence!

2001-12-28 10:54:51 PM
Another thing to consider, if God created everything in the universe, knows everything, & controls everything in the universe, then can anything truly offend him?

2001-12-28 10:55:43 PM

Geddy Is that true Mary Poppins?

Is it the only one?

2001-12-28 10:57:06 PM
Just because somebody sticks a guy and a monkey under a telescope and says "Uh, yeah, exact same thing" doesn't make it proof... either way, right or wrong that statement implies that evolution happened

I'm not going to claim irrepairable damage to my Christian faith here or anything, but if you were an ultra-sensitive, ray-of-light-gives-you-sunburn type of guy, then you might get offended, and that's all CAPalert's saying...

Hollywood is secular. See a secular movie, get the secular mindset, it's not that farfetched.

2001-12-28 10:57:24 PM
Alright, are we sure CAPAlert isn't a satire site? I would think so (ala Landover Baptist), but I also see all their affiliations/ads for other Christian sites, which makes me think they are serious.

I bet if we all pitch in, we could get enough money to send the CAPAlert people, GodHatesFags.com/WBC people (including Falwell) and the crew of the 700 Club to some island. Preferably close to Antarctica. Without any means of getting home. Or food.

2001-12-28 10:57:52 PM
Jasonp55: I tried that "nothing in existence is contrary to God's will" line once while being besieged by some Jehovah's Witnesses. They didn't agree with me, but they did do the next best thing: they left me alone.

2001-12-28 11:00:33 PM
Well, they gave this a score of 89/100... which is remarkably high for them.

2001-12-28 11:01:25 PM
Bis... - What about if countless Scientists with years of experience conduct countless studies & experiments using advanced technology to come to the same conclusion, Human and Monkey DNA are 98% similar?

2001-12-28 11:01:49 PM
>Just because somebody sticks a guy and a monkey under a telescope and says "Uh, yeah, exact same thing" doesn't make it proof... either way, right or wrong that statement implies that evolution happened

Granted, it's hard to learn anything about something by putting it under a telescope. NEvertheless, we're on pretty safe ground here with the DNA thing. It's hardly a matter of scientific controversy.

2001-12-28 11:02:54 PM
Unrelated to the current discussion, but personally, I liked Jimmy Neutron better when his name was Dexter.

2001-12-28 11:03:22 PM
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Offense to God: "Human and monkey DNA only differ by 2%"

Those gosh-darned facts always offending God! When will they learn? The truth is offensive!

2001-12-28 11:04:47 PM
I didn't say it's wrong as a fact... just saying, that you can't knock Christians for blindly accepting the Bible and then not know anything about what the biology books say except "Humans came from monkeys, there is no god, end of story"

The validity of that fact, I have absolutely no idea

2001-12-28 11:04:49 PM
Bananas share 50% of our genes. So think about it before you bite into one of those little bastards, or use them as a sex toy.

2001-12-28 11:05:51 PM
The Great Satan embraces science.

2001-12-28 11:05:59 PM
FifthColumn, I see a rash of banana-related pregnancies in the future.

Edible, yellow, squishy babies for all!

.
2001-12-28 11:06:43 PM
Don't mess with Jehovah's Witnesses. They know the bible inside and out and basically cause no harm to anyone. They've been to my door a few times and never have they been confrontational. Their basic premise is, 'If it's in the bible, it's true. If it's not, it's false.'

Can't fault them for that.

2001-12-28 11:10:16 PM
$30 says this is a religious flame war by the triple digits.

Any takers?

2001-12-28 11:10:20 PM
Here's a thought, a question, a down-home cornumbdrum: How close are the DNAs of Adolph Hitler and Ma Theresa? And what, if anything, does that do to the argument? JOHNDX: Yeah, you. Evenin'!

2001-12-28 11:11:56 PM
Hytes Xian, DNA doesn't make you a nice, generous person, or a cruel, evil dictator. It might have an inclination, but if you make 10,000 clones of Hitler and gave them normal, average lives, then I guarentee at least a couple of them would be nice people.

2001-12-28 11:13:47 PM
The Great Satan can and should crush the heathens with a giant sky-rock

2001-12-28 11:13:48 PM
it's Satan imposing himself to little kids world-wide with this and harry potter......combine the two and you have hell on earth

2001-12-28 11:14:08 PM
My, how this conversation has changed. It first went to the self-righteousness of CAPAlert to Zelotry to DNA to Nature-vs-nurture. What next?

2001-12-28 11:14:55 PM
Wonder how different there DNA is????

Howdy Hytes

2001-12-28 11:15:36 PM
Not that I would ever mess with ANYONE (right, hehe), but for some reason none of the various missionary groups ever seem willng to stick around for my take on things. I mean, there I am politely listening to their beliefs and whatnot without ever once starting the first argument, but I never seem to get any farther than "I'm a Pagan..." before they're out the door never to return. Just once I would like to have an honest TWO way conversation with some of these folks. *sigh*

2001-12-28 11:15:41 PM
If I really tried, I can make anything-and I mean ANYTHING-symbolize all that is un-christian. The Socratean method doesn't just apply to questions... >=)

2001-12-28 11:16:21 PM
Sean412:

I had the exact same thought sitting at the mall staring at one of the Jimmy Neutron posters. But Nickelodeon is always playing catch-up with Cartoon Network.

2001-12-28 11:16:49 PM
I'm not messing with the Jehovah's Witnesses (too much). I don't go out of my way to harass them, and I've only found them to be confrontational in one neighborhood of one town. Everywhere else, they've been almost cool. Once they knocked while I was in the middle of reading Joseph Campbell's "Hero With a Thousand Faces", and we ended up chatting about comparative mythology for a couple of hours.

Mind you, we had to take things into account for it to be a polite conversation. I had to remember that this was fact for them, and they had to remember that it was mythology to me. Even so, it was one of the better religious discussions I've ever had!

How about cute boys riding rockets?
