The success of later generations of Jews meant they held high official positions. This resulted in dispersion (magistrates couldn't hold court in their own hometowns).
Besides, by the 60s they had already been using Chinese surnames for centuries - a mark of integration that removed discrimination from these erstwhile foreigners. The number of ethnic Jews (however they are defined) in the 60s would have numbered in the thousands, most of whom would have totally lost their Jewish identity.
