Duh, just like every current movie today. Remember when movies played for more than five weeks at the big theaters?

2001-12-25 10:32:51 AM
I'm not particularly surprised.

2001-12-25 10:35:07 AM
Jim Carey is going the way of Robin Williams. Did comedy relatively successfully for a while in their younger years, then move on to do sentimental shiat that nobody likes.

2001-12-25 10:39:46 AM
The Majestic majesticly sucks ass!

2001-12-25 10:56:31 AM
Thanks Fark. You have saved me 7 bucks.

I wasn't going to see it anyways really.

2001-12-25 11:04:08 AM
Something about the word "majestic" is just really cursed. Has anyone played the GAME "Majestic"? Not what it could have been.

2001-12-25 11:11:44 AM
Until I read the synopsis, I assumed this movie was gonna be about UFOs or something.

2001-12-25 11:25:56 AM
just one should have had the "obvious" tag.
whos with me ;-)

2001-12-25 11:40:41 AM
[Obvious]

2001-12-25 11:41:54 AM
Definitely "obvious". What's "sad" is that "Harry Potter" was the most enjoyable movie I saw this year.

2001-12-25 11:42:47 AM
Did I put crack in my coffee or something? I forgot about "Shrek". That was a fun movie.

2001-12-25 11:47:32 AM
Not surprised about that one. The filthy critic (bigempire.com/filthy) gave it one finger. He's the only person I trust on movie reviews.

2001-12-25 11:49:29 AM
I liked Disney movies better when they had the Grand High Nazi (c) running the company. Atleast when he got trippy on LSD, he made movies that were semi enjoyable

2001-12-25 11:50:30 AM
Here is a good rule of thumb to save both time and money: if it was made in 2000 or after, it sucks.

2001-12-25 11:59:58 AM
I dunno, I thought it might have been good. I could see it free anyway, since I work at a theater. Probably not now, though... Am I the only one who liked the Truman Show?

2001-12-25 12:00:09 PM
no shiat sherlock

2001-12-25 12:07:40 PM
Truman Show kicked ass. It should've won Best Picture, but they gave it to freaking Titanic. :::shudder:::

2001-12-25 12:16:50 PM
The Truman Show was awesome. The music rox0r3d too.

2001-12-25 12:18:27 PM
Hoo Hoo!! "The Majestic" tosses my salad!!!

2001-12-25 12:19:42 PM
The Truman Show was sentimental AND excellent. So there. :)

2001-12-25 12:36:58 PM
I chose "Sad" because I thought the movie looked really good and I was expecting a lot out of it.

It wasn't "Obvious" because I, for one, think Jim Carrey is great in serious roles.

So nyeh. :)

2001-12-25 12:38:00 PM
I loved the Truman Show. I actually saw that in the theater when it was there. When was the first time I saw Titanic, the movie that won Best Picture the same year? When it was on NBC last week.

2001-12-25 12:48:00 PM
Truman Show's original script was about 80 times better than the one they ended up using for the movie. The movie was alright, a little too Jesusy for me. Lots of movies are too Jesusy for me tho.
Also, anyone who says 'Anything made after 2000 sucks' is a freaking moron extreme. Since 2000 there have been MANY fine films made, just this year we had a number of good movies come out. Just because you didn't see them doesn't mean they don't exist.
Oh and Merry Christmas you freaks.

2001-12-25 12:50:22 PM
Good: I still have not seen Titanic.

Not Good: It's probably because I have no girlfriend to make me watch it.

3Horn

(who is really, really looking forward to the release of "Black Hawk Down".)

I'd just like to be the first to mention Lord of the Rings.

It should be mentioned in every movie-related thread for the next few weeks.

2001-12-25 02:03:15 PM
In addition to mentioning it, you should contrast it with The Majestic using the same social-scientifically gathered data methodology:

Lord of the Rings Tomatometer reading

Does anyone know the record for that stat?

2001-12-25 02:55:15 PM
People can complain that "The Majestic" isn't their cup of tea, but isn't the bottom line that it's something the actor wanted to do?

Our friend Jim was awesome in "The Mask", but how much of that was special effects? If we can ask that question, so can he. Can we blame him for experimenting?

I'll always rent videos from Steve Martin, or those that feature Gene Hackman. Sometimes I'm disappointed, but I don't blame the actor. They've got their own vision, and their own lives to live.

No, it's a rash judgement based on the complete shiat the studios have fed me over the course of the aforementioned time frame.

I've seen some good Indie films shot in 2000 and 2001, but I have yet to see a good studio movie made in this time period (released in theaters, I should add) which wasn't a complete waste of time.

Besides, you are still bitter that I proclaimed Family Guy to be better than the (now washed up) Simpsons. And banned me for saying such things. We are both closed minded :)

2001-12-25 03:42:30 PM
Yes,Family Guy is definitely a lot beter than the Simpsons now.

The tomato-meter for "Chicken Run" is 100%

2001-12-25 04:43:02 PM
...i really liked it...

2001-12-25 04:57:58 PM
A number of movies have received 100% from RT. Including The Truman Show.

Check it out here.

2001-12-25 05:03:35 PM
What do people see in "Chicken Run"? That movie put me to SLEEP! Even Mel Gibson didn't help that movie!

2001-12-25 05:06:44 PM
And why does RT's rating system have a top, but no bottom? Even IMDb has a bottom! I want bottom!

I demand to see BOTTOM!

2001-12-25 05:29:29 PM
>I demand to see BOTTOM!

How about some ass instead?

Out of only two bad reviews for Lord of the Rings on Rotten Tomato one of them has to be from the "San Diego Union Tribune". That newspaper almost makes me emberrassed to be living in San Diego, you cant believe how many people here buy the LA Times or subscribe to it :( Well I have put up with their biased paper thats riddled with spelling and grammtical errors for a long time, but this is the last straw.

2001-12-25 06:54:20 PM
Aeonite: Shameless how some people will wave their ass around in public. Tsk.

2001-12-25 07:35:10 PM
Wow... It took a lot to get that guy's ass off the floor...

<dodges rotten vegetables>

(Convenience Store Owner):"What,..what do you think you're doing? What did I tell you..no shirt,no service..what do think this is? Club Med?"
(Mullet guy with numchuks):"It's America,dude,..Learn the rules..."
Had to throw that in,one of the bright spots of the movies of 2001,.."Ghost World"

2001-12-25 08:21:56 PM
You know, critics hated "It's a Wonderful Life" when it first came out, too.

2001-12-25 09:45:22 PM
Buufoo, the guy who writes for the San Diego Tribune (David Elliot) is a major Ass monkey. I met him at a press screening of some movie a couple years back. Ass monkey. If you couldn't tell from his reviews, the guy is ... terrible.
And Family Guy sucks toe. BIG toe....

2001-12-25 10:20:56 PM
Comparing the Family Guy to the Simpsons is the ole apple and oranges thing. They are two very different shows. The Family Guy is a joke a minute type show where sometimes, in order to get a laugh they sacrifice character development. The Simpsons manages to be very funny and still show humanity in the characters. I don't really care about the Family Guy people. I enjoy the show, but at a different level than the Simpsons. But I digress... I was wanting to see the Majestic, but now I sure won't.

2001-12-25 10:21:52 PM
ahhhh to bad hehe

2001-12-25 10:56:49 PM
If Jim Carey is not doing Tarzan noises out of his ass then I ain't interested. I caught The Grinch on PPV and all I can say is WOW! It is the suckiest of all that is sucky!! The person who compared him to Robin "Please suck on the business end of a 12-gauge" Williams was right on the money.

Oh, and for what it's worth, The Simpson's, still the funniest show on TV. Just my two cents.

2001-12-25 11:02:04 PM
You're not cool (hip, in, unique, whatever you schmoes use)unless you only watch Indie movies and listen to Indie music.

And eat bean tortillas and drink vitasoy.

America: Land of the wannabe hippies :/

"Your not cool unless you pee your pants!"

2001-12-25 11:06:30 PM
If you want to see a good movie go see "A Beautiful Mind". I saw it today and it was great. It's the best movie I've seen in some time. Russell Crowe was great in it even though in real life I think the guys a farking idiot. If you haven't seen the previews for it it's about a really smart code cracker from WW2.

2001-12-25 11:39:52 PM
Damn... he tries so hard! The public doesn't like calculation, Carrey. Bring back Fireman Bob.

"Jim Carey is going the way of Robin Williams. Did comedy relatively successfully for a while in their younger years, then move on to do sentimental shiat that nobody likes."

Desperately chasing an Oscar but putting out blatantly manipulative over-emotional SCHLOCK.

That's..... fire Marshal _Bill_

I'm not trying to insult this guy, I just found it funny. He spelled "emberrassed" wrong, and comments on "paper thats riddled with spelling and grammtical errors for a long time."

Again, not trying to poke fun or anything. I agree with his comments, I just thought it was amusing.
