My goodness... And I thought that the "Pokemon Fruit Roll-ups" were horrible.

How are these frightening? They're no more frightening than, oh, say, gummy worms!

Stupid link. They should have posted http://www.engrish.com instead.

now that i think about it, all my past comments condemning fruitcake and those who enjoy it, are uncalled for and i apologize. just kidding, i still hate that stuff.

Sometimes, I get an urge to hunt down web authors who use shiatty backgrounds... and hurt them... badly.

I agree with Killio. I think the Japanese have us on the snack food industry.

I don't see Nabisco coming out with pancake flavored chips!(They're tasty, I swear).

And you have to be amused by the broken english on a lot of them.

It's frightening alright.. frighteningly delicious! Ahahahah! Ahem. Actually, if you go to japanesesnacks.com you can order most of this stuff. I reccomend any kind of Konnyaku jelly. I think they're restocking now so you can't get much, but if you wait till February you can.

I purchase both Botan (mostly in hopes of getting more Ninja stickers) and Pocky on a regular basis. Going down to my local oriental market and reading the packages is half the fun :D

I used to drink this stuff when I lived in Japan:

The only thing frightening about that site is the design. I love a background that makes me want to have a seizure.

Oh, and Pocari sweat rules. Tastes a little like gatorade.

I could go for some men's pocky right now...

Men's Pocky: Makes you feel like a man! Or fat, if you eat too much. One of the two...

Im surprised they don't have any Ipecac candy down there...

http://www.bad-candy.com/ goes nicely with this link. Although, they focus more on the mexican candy than the japanese.

Giant Robot did it better with actual ratings and judges comments.

Did I just see Powdered Toast Man???

I love the Japanese. Their culture is a living parody of US pop culture. It seems sorta like American culture without the stupid white-trash influence.

However, I hate that website. My eyes hurt. Who uses black text on a background like that? Good god.

Honestly, how can the creators of such sites actually think their pages look GOOD? If they can't farking read it, how do they expect us to? Icarumba.

Glad to see that you're all not dissing Japanese snacks. If you forget about the names and descriptions, most of them are pretty good.

THAT'S why I put on 14kg on my year as an exchange student.

FRKBOY, that's exactly what I thought.

Ouroborus - Pocari Sweat is okay, but I'm a FAR bigger fan of Calpis and C.C. Lemon. Also, when I was studying over there for a month last June, the school didn't have C.C. Lemon in the vending machine near my class, so I started getting Fanta Lemon instead. Hot damn, that stuff is good too.

I love Japanese snacks. There's so much great and interesting stuff to check out while you are over there. The only problem is, if you get the urge for some good old US snacks, sometimes it's near impossible to find standard US flavors. For example, once when I was wanting some Doritoes, they had a hord of strange and unusual specailty flavors, but not ONE bag of just plain old "standard" flavor.

Pocari Sweat is the best sports drink in existence. I drank up to a liter a day over there this summer.

There's an asian mega super market in my neighborhood and they have a great snack aisle! I love pockey. :)

2001-12-23 02:27:03 AM
Pocari is ok... but the best for hangovers is Aquarius!!! Absolutely brilliant stuff... I'm surprised no one has mentioned the octopus jerky on a stick, looks horrid but is actually pretty tasty! Although some of the snack foods ARE pretty mazui. The dried whole baby crabs for example.

Wasabi dried green peas.. Mmmm..

This individual's page only furthers my argument that web page design needs to be left to professionals. Or, barring that, to people who know what they're doing. I'm sorry, but that's just CRIMINAL.

Personally, I can't even spell HTML, but I'm willing to bet I could "hack and chop" a better web page than that in the midst of a drunken stupor.

Pardon me... I need to vomit now.
