I have just been discussing this very point on IRC, and yes, everyone in the channel laughed heartily at the very thought that XP is as secure as Bill Gates says.

"If people would just learn to remain quiet, these evil hackers wouldn't know of any insecurities, and your computer would be safe."

Yeah, Fark the first ammendment!

Another brilliant piece of writing. Whoever believes this Wheaton of which you speak is evil must be mistaken.

Wheaton: Good job. Here's your 5 bucks.

Wheaton: Good job. I'll keep my 5 bucks

There's no wind in Redmond. The city council outlawed it. Other than that, nice little bit of satire.
2001-12-21 04:43:45 PM
"Contrary to popular belief, we here at HaXored take security very seriously," Gates said.
2001-12-21 04:44:12 PM
" the Amiga..."

2001-12-21 04:47:12 PM
Damn, that article had me going, up until the mention of Amiga, then I started questioning it, and by the time it got to the BSOD, I new it was satire.

Nicely written.

Okay, just wanted to make sure it was Satire. Good job, Wil.
2001-12-21 05:17:37 PM

2001-12-21 05:22:54 PM

Ha ha! That was very good! LMAO at the "Gunther Goebels" bit...I guess in many ways Gates is like the Hitler of the computer world...discuss...
2001-12-21 05:57:45 PM
haha thats one way of dealing with a crappy OS.. personaly i would have just made a better one

sounds like a good premise for a sitcom though!
2001-12-21 06:52:13 PM

2001-12-22 01:28:04 AM
What the HELL did that have to do with Wil Wheaton?

Though, the BSOD reference was worth the entire article >:)
2001-12-22 01:29:17 AM
Nevermind the what the hell part. I'm feeling like a complete idiot.

Thanks, everyone. :-)

It may not be totally secure, but there are always the usual security updates available. Windows XP is by far the most stable OS microsoft has ever made.
2001-12-22 01:08:25 PM
/rubs hands together evilly

2001-12-22 05:35:37 PM
"like the Amiga"...the machine that Gates killed becasue it's native operating system, born in 1985, looks exactly like the Windows we know today..( I still have two of them )
2001-12-23 12:11:57 AM
LOL that one goes up on the Anti-M$ board at work...thanks :)

BTW _ that is one cool effect...I am just high enough that I had to blink twice :)

Propaganda. Wheaton gets a cut (4%) of all Windows XP proceeds (Mac platform also). An easter egg was revealed today at SlinkCom 2k01 -- if you load an exactly 10,000 line Excel spreadsheet , then press CTRL-ALT-K when row 10000 cell "WW" is selected, a small (stupid) 2 person version of the old Apple "Karateka" game is launched in a window. And the clincher -- it's Wesley versus Gates. This was considered by many to be the first public proof that Wheaton had funded a large part of the XP operating system development.
