Wel, that's messed up.

2015-08-31 03:27:46 PM
1. For the love of God they set this up outside the gates. It's not like they had you go into the actual showers while violin player  seranaded you outside
2. Google gas and google mist.  They don't even look the same.
3. If you act this viscerally to mist showers, maybe they should have turned the hose on your stanky ass.

Normally I'd say this sounds like an honest mistake, and really I suppose it was, but they should have known better.  This is perhaps THE single most notorious concentration/extermination camp.  Pretty sure anyone in their right mind would avoid anything resembling a shower, an oven or anything of that nature.

2015-08-31 04:15:51 PM
So they'd rather die of heat stroke? Oy vey...

2015-08-31 04:16:18 PM
Did they sell "I took a shower at Auschwitz" T-Shirts?

2015-08-31 04:17:29 PM
It seems like an inappropriate location for a wet t-shirt contest, but I'm willing to roll with it.

Seriously, people are getting butthurt that someone put misting cooling stations near a major tourist attraction? Has anyone noticed that its frigging summer and over 90 degrees outside and 500 degrees in?

2015-08-31 04:18:29 PM
Albeit macht sich abkühlen.

2015-08-31 04:18:50 PM
Sweet Moses, it's hot out here. I'm ROASTING!

2015-08-31 04:19:30 PM
I could see if they had signs saying, "Cool off here...It's an oven in there" or something like that.

2015-08-31 04:19:46 PM
In fairness to the management, it was hot as an oven out there.

Pretty much THIS. If there were no cooling stations you can bet those same people would be pissing and moaning...and suing as soon as one of them fell to heatstroke.

Years ago I worked at Deutsche Bank in Canada.  They were redesigning our offices, and a few of us put in the request/suggestion (ultimately rejected) that they put in a small corporate gym.  There were lots of internal jokes about the Germans being good at designing showers.

2015-08-31 04:22:00 PM
Oh, Poland. This is why we make fun of you.

2015-08-31 04:22:27 PM
Meh, butt-hurt is better than heatstroke.

2015-08-31 04:23:11 PM
Oh, ffs! I hope the tag is for the offended idiots. A misting station outside to keep tourists from keeling over with heat stroke is nothing like the farking shower chambers of death in WWII. Anyone that makes that connection and throws a fit needs to get some perspective and a clue.

Oy, vey.  Hop in!

It's a convenience.  It doesn't represent every blessed oven that has ever been constructed.

Nor does a flag represent every ugly intention of those who have flown it.

"Or dear God!  Don't ask me HERE if I left the oven on again!"

These misting devices are very cool, and I think I will beat all you entrepreneurial FARKers to the punch in a certain southern city.

Oh, and BTW - fark these stupid people all to hell.  DNRTFA.

Sounds like the mister was in the entrance/queuing area.  Had they put the mister in the "shower room" there might be a point to make about that.

'With all due respect it reminds me of the gas chambers.'

No it doesn't.  You've never been in a gas chamber so you would have no idea what that was like.  What would you say if you visited over the winter and it was snowing?  Would you yell at the teenager in the info booth because the snow looks like ashes from the ovens that that offends you?   Auschwitz people were just trying to make non-outraged Jews a little more comfortable in the summer months so take your outraged Jew bit someplace else..

Does this mean that they're canceling the tattoo kiosk in the gift shop, too?

2015-08-31 04:24:39 PM
I bet poor Helen Keller isn't laughing...

2015-08-31 04:24:42 PM
"I think that places like this need to think of the connotations these types of things can inspire," Israeli tourist Meyer Bolka said. "If you want to cool the people down, you need to find another solution..."

But probably not a final solution, eh Meyer?

I bet the hotels in the area have showers too. Those insensitive f*cks.

2015-08-31 04:25:15 PM
It seems that there must be a way to do this that doesn't seem as .....icky.  Free lemonade, or free iced neck wraps or something.

Good.  I'd hate for the Yelp reviews to be about how it's uncomfortable.

2015-08-31 04:26:27 PM
Misting showers for the visitors at Auschwitz.  Sorry, that ain't kosher.

2015-08-31 04:26:29 PM
My Gawd!  How cruel!  How insensitive!  Turn off those damn shower heads!!!

I'm sure that no one would mind a dozen or so heat succumbed bodies lying at the gate, in exchange for not irritating the irritations of an irritable old irritant.

2015-08-31 04:26:55 PM
Um, forgive me if I sound daft, but if water's coming out of the plumbing doesn't that kind of imply that there's no poison gas involved?  So it would look nothing like the gassing that actually killed people unless you were looking for a reason to be butthurt.

Would have been a better idea to use those misting fans.

God forbid if they put in light rail for the tourists....

2015-08-31 04:29:01 PM
Oh I'm certain this group wouldn't have complained at all about the heat.

2015-08-31 04:29:41 PM
I wonder what they will come up with to warm visitors in the winter.

2015-08-31 04:29:43 PM
"The showers remind me of the gas chambers."  Seems kinda strange to go to Auschwitz with the expectation that nothing will remind you of the gas chambers.

2015-08-31 04:30:08 PM
It was really for de-licing.

I'm a horrible human being...because I'd buy that T-shirt.

"As soon as I got off the bus I walked into the shower contraption," said Israeli tourist Meyer Bolka. "I was in shock. It was a punch to the gut. I walked up to the reception and asked the worker there about the showers, she said it was a hot day. I told her: 'With all due respect it reminds me of the gas chambers.' She told me she is very sorry."

I'd probably order one in each color

It simply sounds like someone was looking for something to get all butthurt over to get a bunch of attention, and succeeded.

I guess, even though they were free, those tourists were still prisoners... in the mind.

At a certain point you are just grasping in the dark for a reason, any reason, to be angry.  This is that point.  They weren't even actual showers just a hose with some pin holes poked in it.

People really love to be offended by things.
