Cops are already eager to shoot your dog without this.

A friend sent me this yesterday.  I briefly entertained the thought until I remembered that my rambunctions, 150-lb, 2 1/2-yo Great Dane was intimidating enough to people.

I have a pug and chiweenie it would be perfect for!!!

Where exactly do you think you'll be able mount a muzzle on this?

You'd have to go with something like this for a pug:

Some things are just asking for trouble.

That said, great idea to use on Halloween.

I don't believe you would get time to explain if a cop saw that on the street. I know I'd be squealing "Shoot it! Shoot it!"

We need to have a conversation about trigger discipline.

What is that peak on top of the muzzle?  It's not part of the muzzle.

How cops see dogs.

That's cool in a whatthedamnhellisthat kinda way.

I'm just glad I read the article before seeing this first in real life.

/great. Now I'm probably going to get torn to shreds by Cujo because I'm thinking "hey, it's that muzzle." And it's not.

Quick, someone PLEASE post the Fry jpeg "Shut up and take my money" I NEED this muzzle. I work at a vet clinic, and this would be the ideal prank to pull on my boss/coworkers!!!

1) a muzzled dog is effectively disarmed.
2) Other dogs will see this and be threatened.
3) Your poor disarmed dog won't be about to defend himself.

This is really a cruel thing to do to a dog.

Not a firearm, no trigger discipline necessary. Easy, conversation done.

The horrible part is realizing that it's a lovely item for training fighting dogs - by putting it on a bait dog, you get all the benefits of a live bait dog, without the risk of damaging a fighting dog while training or antagonizing it.

Cops will shoot a dog with no provocation. Even if the dog is running away. Because cops are shiatbags.

That was my first thought.

"Great, you have a dog that looks like it's baring teeth to other dogs but now doesn't have the teeth to back it up if an alpha dog gets all butt hurt about it"

I'll bet the "trigger" on this object that is not a gun is what locks the retractable leash in place, neither allowing it to pay out more line or take in any. I've never seen a retractable that didn't have such a mechanism.

I have a neighbor who is scared to death of my German Shepherd.  Despite his never having done a thing to warrant it except to cruise the fence line hoping for ear scritches, a snack, or (ohpleaseohplease) a ball to get thrown.

I imagine putting one of these on the boy might just kill her.**

**She's a nice old lady in all other regards.  I don't really want to kill her.

Yerp, have one myself - pretty much looks like a dachshund with longer legs and chihuahua ears.  Equals even larger dachshund than usual - with the appropriate proportional strength of your average silverback gorilla.  She's a sweetheart, and about as bright as a box of rocks - but she is stupidly strong.  Literally can't hold onto her if she really wants down etc. - she can and will out-muscle me and proceed.  Yes, we're thankful for the sweetheart part, cause otherwise she'd be pretty dangerous.  Thankfully all she actually wants to do to anyone is to lick them for as long as they're willing to hold still for it.

Chihuahua plus dachshund equals larger dachshund than usual? Maybe if you think a miniature dachshund is a standard dachshund. Just like a miniature poodle is the same thing as a standard poodle, and a miniature pinscher is the same thing as a normal doberman pinscher.

I work with dogs and love the little ones just as much as the big ones, but let's not pretend a miniature dachshund is the same thing as a standard dachshund. One weighs eight pounds, the other weighs three or four times as much.
