After reading the gord, i see the logic in jailing such people.

That sucks. I know a guy that spent 10 days in jail after he failed to return a rental car... for 9 years. He was finally caught and his sentence was $9000 to pay for the car and 10 days in jail.

I will always think of Patrick Bateman when I think of returning videotapes.

I wonder how much money the company spent on collection agents. I wonder how much the law enforcement officers involved in the case get paid by the hour. I wonder what the maintenence cost of her cell was. I wonder how much the food she was fed in prison cost. I wonder how much money she didn't earn or spend while in prison. I wonder if it was worth it.

But damn.... $190 in late fees?

Okay, so don't wave in Detriot and don't rent movies in Pittsburgh, you really can learn something from Fark.

2001-12-20 02:14:27 PM
Now would be a good time for the DA to drop the charges as a gesture of good faith, which might help the county deflect the upcoming civil suit... And if turns out she didn't rent the videos (or the video store no longer has records showing she rented them) then its lawsuits all around. Damn, I wish I was an ambulance chasing slimey lawyer in Pissburgh.

Aren't you supposed to be told what offence you're bring arrested for?

2001-12-20 02:20:11 PM

Bah
some kid down at the local mom-n-pop store by my house owes over $200 in late fees. They finally stopped adding more to it and just banned him.

Leach said the constables told her she would be released in a few hours.

'Constables'??

Mr_fogey: PA is a Commonwealth, they work for the County jail system as Officers of the Court, etc. PA also has some goofy elected political offices like the Prothonotary (The head Court Clerk - salaried clerks actually do the work, they get great pay, cars and stuff - but don't actually do anything and usually have other full time occupations).

That reminds me, I better return my copies of "Swedish Nurses in Heat", "Takin' The A Train", and "Barney's New Adventure."

geeze I worked in a store renting videos for a while and there were poeple with huge late fees. Our only policy was to not rent to them unless they paid them.

sometimes i really miss Pittsburgh justice. This is up there with the fire bombing of a car dealership in Carrick after the residents found out the owners had been involved in the scheme to get illegal hazmat licenses. then, there's the midnight jogger....harrassed by highschool students, the whitehall bourough council, whitehall and baldwin police, and a judge; all for jogging at night.

Fb- you nasty. You want to watch videos of some guy jerkin? Yuck!

Rugrats in Paris

Hot Sluts in Bondage IX

2001-12-20 04:11:37 PM

2001-12-20 04:21:51 PM
The offending tapes were "Clam Lappers" and "Sonic the Hedgehog"

(shout out to all you Bill Hicks fans)

2001-12-20 04:26:12 PM
Doncha hate it when you rent "housewife slut gangbang IX" and "ebony carnal pleasures 35" and you forget to return the videos on time... so the nice and curteous video store clerk calls up your house and tells WHOEVER picks up the phone your pornos are overdue? i really hate that.

2001-12-20 04:27:39 PM
Dr.Ratchet,

In which city ARE you an ambulance chasing slimey lawyer?

2001-12-20 04:50:53 PM
During the horrible "salad days" I used to work at a video store. When people didn't bring movies back, we'd charge them late fees until it hit the cost of the video, then just drop the late fees & put the charge for the video.

You wouldn't believe the number of people that wanted to attack me because they'd rented 6 new releases at once, never returned them, and now they can't buy a house due to the bad credit!

HA!

I work at the local library after school, and once I had some guy who owed over 200 bucks. And that's hard to do with just 20 cents per day late....

2001-12-20 11:04:56 PM
I ended up buying a copy of something called " Class of Nukem High " becase I rented it in the middle of a move and lost it. I would have hated to be arrested for that piece of crap.
