2001-12-19 05:47:58 PM

2001-12-19 05:50:18 PM

2001-12-19 05:50:29 PM
Should the TAG not be "ASSININE"?
2001-12-19 05:51:09 PM
Damn, Afree87 beat me to it. : |

This looks pathetic. 100 downloads a month?
2001-12-19 05:54:05 PM
I hope they have a good selection of salsa music. Especially Marc Antony. (sorry, I had to go there) The devil and Euro made me do it.
2001-12-19 05:54:24 PM
Oh yeah, and this just in: My wife is going to start charging me for sex.
2001-12-19 05:54:54 PM
100? A MONTH!?!?

Bullshiat. I downloaded 50 last night alone.

Praise Morpheus!
2001-12-19 05:56:57 PM
I'd give my money to Afghanistan before the RIAA.
2001-12-19 05:57:31 PM
This looks like a good deal. Now I can finally pay for all the music I've been downloading for free.
2001-12-19 05:58:29 PM
I give it 6 months before it goes under.
2001-12-19 05:58:47 PM
WELL, you have to admit its better than the piece of shiat real networks put out.
2001-12-19 05:59:52 PM

Did Sony, Universal, and Warner sign a deal with her? Sorry buddy, but hell in a way we ALL pay for sex and I figure $10 for 100 per month may be a steal!
2001-12-19 05:59:52 PM
i have a better idea: 5 bucks a month....unlimited downloads and burns.....peer to they think we are a bunch of idiots ? jeez i can download almost anything by looking in a good search engine....not as good as napster, (which shutting that down was revenge by the industry for millions of bootlegged/copied cassettes in the 70's)but i can be patient since i have cable. =)
2001-12-19 06:00:40 PM
Do these idiots in the music industry, know that Morpheus is completely FREE?
2001-12-19 06:00:44 PM
I've downloaded over 1000 albums for free. I will never pay. You hear me?? Never!

Use Morpheus and newsgroups.
2001-12-19 06:01:32 PM
what a farking joke. RIAA can still suck my dick
2001-12-19 06:01:57 PM
"Tracks downloaded onto computer hard drives will only work as long a user remains a Pressplay subscriber."

WOW! Sign me up for 2 accounts at $20 a month, you jackasses!
2001-12-19 06:02:21 PM
but... but...

Not to long ago they were saying...

2001-12-19 06:02:39 PM
So you get to pay each month for the loveley privilege of retaining the ability to play those songs you payed to download last month. Oooh! Oooh! Sign me up! Oh, but there's more. I get to burn 20 (count 'em, twenty) songs onto a cd. What a deal! 100 songs in a proprietary format that I have to play in who knows what crap player and that i have to pay for each month and 20 I can actually use. Oh, and 1000 streaming songs of probably piss poor quality. Sign me up.

I love the Recording Ass. of America.
2001-12-19 06:03:32 PM
Maybe they still don't know what time it is.
2001-12-19 06:04:27 PM
"pricing plans ranging from $9.95 to $24.95 a month"
"download 100 tunes -- and "burn" up to 20 tracks onto a blank CD"

Wha!? Download 100 songs a month, and only burn 20 of them? What a rip. If this doesn't boost music pirating even more then I don't know what else would.

When discussions first came about on this topic, I thought to myself "yeah, I could pay $15 a month to download MP3's, if the service was reliable, and the mp3s were complete and were of good quality" but there is no way in hell I'd do this.

The RIAA tried to fook the world up the azz, and now they're about to do it to themselves. Wonder who the brainchild behind this little project is. He/she's about to witness CD ripping at an all time high.
2001-12-19 06:07:50 PM
RIAA: lets compete by chargeing more than our compeditors! thats how it works....right?
2001-12-19 06:08:21 PM
did they forget to mention that the selection is limited to a rare '4' Tenors pre-release album and some AfroCeltic Ska Fusion Marching Muzak from Belize ?
2001-12-19 06:10:03 PM
Long live Piracy. I've been a pirate for years and will be for years b/c most "music" out there ISN'T WORTH PAYING 20 BUCKS PER CD FOR.

Let's throw a guy with spiky hair and piercings in there to sing through his nose to sound like a lawnmower. Add guitars and 3 chords and make the song 4 and a half minutes long.

Is it just me or is most "music" out there boring as hell?

If Gustav Mahler or Richard Strauss lived today maybe people would realize true genius in Music.

MTV CANNOT HOLD A CANDLE to Ein Heldenleben or Mahler's 3rd Symphony

Or even the likes of such.
2001-12-19 06:12:14 PM
Now record companies can fark their artists at the speed of light.

Shouldn't you?"

Thank you Hizzout.

Once you go to real music I find it's difficult for one to go back.

Although I do listen to rock rarely I now can only stand about 5 minutes of it then my ears get bored and I return to Classical or Jazz.

Doh mods please delete post 2 posts back.

Damn enter key, so close to my fingers on my laptop.
2001-12-19 06:20:20 PM

I support my local bands. I find some amazing bands / DJ's that I can see for paying little or no money at all, and usually pick up their CD's for $10 or less.

If I do happen to like a "mainstream" band I head over to Morpheus and test the waters. If the band deserves money, I'll buy the album......well, sometimes. heh heh.
2001-12-19 06:21:21 PM
I'll stop downloading MP3s when record stores stop charging almost $20/CD here in SF.
2001-12-19 06:25:07 PM
the recording institute = trying to put toothpaste back into the tube... the juice is already loose, not gonna happen. baby.
2001-12-19 06:28:00 PM
maybe if the RIAA didn't repeatedly prove itself to be such a greedy organization, i'd support them. come on, CD's do not cost $15 to produce. and you know what? (I'm talking to YOU, HILARY ROSEN!) IF YOU PRICED YOUR CD'S MORE REASONABLY PEOPLE MIGHT ACTUALLY WANT TO BUY THEM!!!

these idiots don't realize that their stupid pricing scheme is shooting them in the foot. the popularity of MP3's is the direct result of overpricing. this is a FACT. ask mp3 users if they'd actually buy cd's if they were reasonably priced. i'd say, fark yeah! but if i have to pay $15-20 for 10-12 songs, i'd say, go fark yourself.
2001-12-19 06:32:13 PM
You want good music? Check out FeaselROCK @

Free mp3s to download! They last forever, and you can burn them on CDs. This is the way music is meant to be.

2001-12-19 06:33:09 PM
All that I know is that I buy CDs when I enjoy the artist. I like to be able to listen to them at home, and rip them to my PC at work so I don't have to leave my CDs at work. Now, if they have their way, I would have to subsribe to a service to download the same songs I already bought. It doesn't make any sense.
2001-12-19 06:33:39 PM
what i love is the fact that they can't stop music piracy. soon, instead of buying a CD you'll have to buy a little player with the music built-in that you plug into some speakers... or to a line-input to make mp3s out of them!
2001-12-19 06:37:34 PM
Cheshire_cat_sf - I agree. Totally. What pisses me off the most is that the folks who made the music on the cheap plastic disks I buy at Zia have probably made, in total, $100 from me out of the $1,500 - $1,800 I've spent on the damn things.

I should have stolen all of the music and sent $100 a year to whichever artist I felt deserved it from me. This would have increased the artist's cut from my spending eightfold and saved me a thousand dollars. But no, I have (?) to help subsidize the (very expensive) relentless hype of whatever the flavor of the month is and keep the useless suits in BMWs and free Lear rides.
2001-12-19 06:39:22 PM
Crash and burn baby, crash and burn...
2001-12-19 06:40:06 PM
To hell with CDs. In a few years, everbody's gonna have some sort of solid-state MP3 player. I suggest that they start putting albums directly onto SmartMedia (and whatnot) cards. If they do that, they might be able to convince consumers to pay $20 per album... when monkeys fly out of my butt.
2001-12-19 06:41:56 PM
Pshain - Just an extension of the logic that lets the government tax the money you make, tax it again when you want to spend it, tax it again if what you bought lasts more than a year, then tax it again when you die and try to leave it to your kids.
2001-12-19 06:42:27 PM
Yep its all about control.

The music industry wants to control the music so that they can make a profit. File sharing makes that nearly impossible. It takes the power of record industry marketing giants and puts it back in the hands of the artist and the listeners.
2001-12-19 06:43:10 PM
Valkhorn I hear ya

course I also like rock...and metal...and "newage" and well everything....but I prefer not to listen to the forumla crap that they want $20 for a cd for
2001-12-19 06:45:06 PM
It's about time for a photoshop...
2001-12-19 06:48:21 PM
Hehe..I can see the anti-RIAA commercial now..."I want my MP3's!!"...
