There are plenty of good reasons to do this. For instance:

2004-03-15 09:15:10 AM
Well, what else was he going to do with a 47 foot long, 5,700-pound bat?

2004-03-15 09:18:24 AM
MLB could use it. Make that the ball that will be brought out and pitched to players who get caught using steroids. The only flaw in this is finding a pitcher who can throw it.

2004-03-15 09:45:05 AM
Wow this guy's got big balls.

2004-03-15 09:59:32 AM
Nabb1, you don't need a human pitcher, a trebuchet will do quite nicely.

Excellent idea, etymxris. Let's see if that body armor does Bonds any good when he crowds the plate for that.

What was he trying to prove? Who was he trying to impress?
Why did he build it? How did he do, it was anybody's guess.
Where did he get the twine? What was goin' through his mind?
Did it just seem like a good idea at the time?

2004-03-15 12:24:50 PM
have you seen my baseball?

2004-03-15 12:52:26 PM
1300 pounds and only 35 inches in diameter?

I had no idea paint was so dense.

2004-03-15 01:25:48 PM
about the biggest pair you've ever seen, dingleberry.

2004-03-15 01:26:05 PM
The scary thing is, Bonds can still hit it 487 ft.

No steroids in Barry. No sir.

2004-03-15 01:26:30 PM
Why in God's name would you write an article about a ball of paint or a dog-pulled wagon and not include a farking picture?

In honor of Carmichael's work, Saturday was declared Ball of Paint Day in Alexandria, about 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis. It starting with a proclamation honoring Carmichael on the steps of City Hall, followed by a photo exhibit and ending with the core sample taken at Carmichael's home.

If we are honoring people for painting baseballs and making a holiday out of it what's next, are they going to make a Masturbation Day and honor a man at City Hall for masturbating non-stop for 27 years?

DIY prank:

Call said man with ball and ask:

"Do you have a 1300 pound ball?"

He will answer yes. Then,

"Doesn't it hurt to put pants on?"

Hillarity will soon ensue.

For even more effect call back and ask for Mike Hunt.

The baseball admitted to accepting steroids - but didn't take them and it is this big from eating right and a strict workout program.

2004-03-15 01:35:33 PM
Wonder how much paint fumes this guy inhaled painting this thing for 27 years?!

2004-03-15 01:36:13 PM

Artist Eric Cameron's career is finally rendered moot.

(I was getting tired of his work anyway once the "neat-o" factor wore off)

there was a time when we reserved world records for the truly remarkable and miraculaous, instead of the merely moronic.

BTW.. This link has a photo of the ball..

Ah, yes, like the classic world records "World's Fattest Twins" (on motorcycles) and "World's Longest Fingernails." The good old days were so much better...

I am creating a 1300 pound wife as I sit here.

Honey I bought eclairs! They are in the fridge! Have a couple while they are fresh.

Does anyone know where I might find another article about this which may include a picture?

Nassif Mob I've heard that Bonds is actually a tiny white man, but before games he becomes incredibly angry and undergoes some kind of tranformation.

Wow, talk about not having much to do.

Guess the old "I'd rather watch paint dry" was never challenged by friends.

His profile lists his other hobbies:
washing his hair
watching the grass grow

2004-03-15 01:49:56 PM
well, the fattest twins one is pretty lame, I admit that.

I would consider the world's longest fingernails to be more remarkable than most recent world records. Billy Bob here just slapped on some paint every day. I could get the same record for "drinking coffee" on the same regular basis.

I would guess the world record books wouldb e a good place to gather a study group of obsessive-compulsive patients.

Where's my green ball?
