This is so great. The Rangers now have an openly racist pitcher and an openly anti-white outfielder. Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall in that locker room?
2001-12-19 08:36:56 AM
I'd pay $49.95 to watch those two go at it in a no hold's barred deathmatch.

Two man enter. One man leave.

we went over this one yesterday.

I am gonna laugh my ass off when Rocker gets 40+ saves this year and Everett has a career year at the plate. You know why? Because all of this bullshiat won't matter! Rocker is a damn good closer and Everett is pretty good on the field. If the Rangers can bring in a couple starters, "they're gonna be contenda's!!"

Everybody laughed at the Cleveland Indians when they signed Willie Mays Hays, Roger Dorn, Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn, Pedro Cerano and Jake Taylor. Look what happened.... THEY WON THE PENNANT!

Rocker and least they can attend the same therapy sessions for racists, they'll be the ones with the "I'm with Whitey", and the "I'm with the Hooded Mutherfarker" t-shirts on. What a joke. In the times of $250 million dollar contracts, we have openly professed racist farkheads parading on the field making more money than Bill gates (almost). I suppose much has not changed since the thirties/forties in baseball.

Hard to get 40+ saves when you're never ahead late in the game.

But you will get one good year out of Everett. That's about what he's good for. Year two is a real treat.

"You sayin J.C. can't hit a curve ball?"
2001-12-19 08:53:23 AM
Hey, the Rangers can't suck any worse

I live with it here every year.

We are the old Clevland Indians

I expected a much more interesting comment from Chemmie the Racist than that. Especially in a Carl Everett topic.

Everett is still a dumb negro...

is that good for you?

"It very bad to drink Jobu's Rum"...

"up your ass Jo-bu"

I'm just glad Cleveland got rid of Rocker. Now Wicky is the MAN. He's PHAT.

I think Rocker and Everett will get along just fine. Everett doesn't think Dinosaurs exist because it isn't in the Bible. Rocker is probably the same kind of religious extremist. They can have Bible Study together or something.

The guy I feel sorry for is a class guy like Pudge Rodreguez.....But how would you like to be the beat reporter for THAT team??? At least you won't have to worry about not having a story for the day.....
2001-12-19 10:04:39 AM
I think Opening Day is going to see a lynching. Rafael Palmiero, A-Rod, and Pudge will probably string Rocker up in the bullpen before the first pitch.
2001-12-19 10:08:35 AM
Rocker and Everett will behave long enough in their new environs to keep the peace. But late in the season, and definitely by next season- look out! This is a disaster waiting to happen... to the Rangers... so its funny!

What's black and white and red all over?

A skunk with a sunburn?

an embarassed zebra?
2001-12-19 11:02:37 AM
a newspaper?
2001-12-19 11:08:51 AM
I'd make the 2 of them roommates on the road.
Let the fun begin.
2001-12-19 11:35:25 AM
Palmiero said he wasn't worried about Everett, but wasn't so sure about Rocker. Rocker probably won't be closing, will he? Zimmerman looked really good last year, so unless he goes in the toilet or gets hurt, Rocker shouldn't get too many save opportunities. My larger concern is how bad are Sosa and Alou going to put it on the Astros next season??? I'm guessing they'll club on them like baby seals...

just another in a list of asinine moves by the bumbling rangers organization. trust me, as a lifelong padres fan, i know bumbling organizations when i see 'em.
well, at least it'll be entertaining

I'd like to thank John Hart for his one last great move for the Indians, even if he was working for the Rangers at the time.
2001-12-19 12:57:12 PM
Hart traded Karsay and Reed to get Rocker. 2 good bullpen arms. Now he gets Rocker on the Rangers for some 26 year old scrub.

Life imitates art this year for the Tribe - "I haven't even heard of most of these guys. And this guy here is dead!"
2001-12-19 01:07:39 PM
You don't know bumbling organizations until you look at both Chicago teams.
At least The Padres made it to the World Series twice in the last 20 years.
2001-12-19 01:32:13 PM
I'm guessing that Zimmerman will stay in the closing spot, with Rocker in middle/late relief somewhere. I'm not sure how much work he'll get, since thank GOD Jerry doesn't play the percentages like Johnny used to. With Cordero, Petkovsek, Venafro, and Moreno in the bullpen, we might not have to see Rocker make the walk that often.

Then again, it all depends what kind of a show he can put in int Spring Training.

I didn't submit any links but come on. There has to be at least one better article to post than this one. It is exactly the same article that was posted yesterday. Apparently if you put a new witty little headline to it they will recycle the same stories over?

I'm going to laugh when one or both of these guys has a calm year with very nice numbers that really help the team. Of course you won't hear about it in the media because the only story they want is Everett taking a bat to Rocker or the other way around. I also think it is funny when people say how bad a trade it was last year that Hart made for Karsay and Reed. In hind sight it was not that great since Rocker fell apart but how did anyone know he would do that? You can argue that it was not the greatest to take the two guys from a team in the middle of the season, but the Indians were not going to beat the Yankees or the DBacks in the playoffs with them either. On top of that Karsay would have ended up going to the Yankees and the Indians would have gotten nothing. The free agent aspect of it is why I think Hart made the move.

I remember just after the Rocker trade, he was sent to Triple A ball and had to face the Toledo Mud Hens. A local radio personality held a contest; the best idea for an anti-Rocker sign would win two tickets to the game. The winner was "Hey Rocker, you should go to the NFL. You can get away with murder." And Rocker didn't even play in the game! All for naught.

And the winner of those tickets was....

Not me.

There was supposed to be a pic there, but my meager HTML skills are fourth-rate at best.

Now Texas can have all the hate speech, knock-em, sock 'em action they all love and enjoy -- they already got overpaid players; now the Rangers need some drug addicts and Dallas - Ft. Worth can go back to their roots! Can I hear a "Yee-haw!"? :-P
