That's great!

But will Kirk be able to put it all together in time to defeat the Lizard King?

the discovery of it on Mars makes it more possible that there was once life on the red planet...Most nitrates on Earth are produced by living things, Stern said. But in the case of Mars, the team believes the nitrates were created during a "thermal shock," such as a lightning strike or an asteroid impact

So...life or not life?

We all know what happens when you discover a big deposit of caliche blanco.

As a "Metro-area" New Yorker I was quite surprised when I arrived at college in Oswego, NY to find the local McDonald's had Hot Dogs on the menu. They didn't call them Hot Dogs though; they called them "Red Hots" and "White Hots."

One night while drunk and walking back to campus I stopped in to order something to eat, and inquired as to what the difference was. The girl behind the counter proudly responded "Oh, it's the nitrates." and smiled, like that actually explained anything.

Also, for those interested in arbitrary milestones, the rover's officially driven the distance of a full marathon across mars. It's earned it's hotdog.

Let me know when they find sulfites because if my ass is living on Mars I ain't drinking that sulfite-free crap.
