I still don't understand Americans and their perceived need to be armed to the teeth. That's what probably led the employee to call the cops. If he/she found a bit of weed, well, big deal. But the weapons may have led them to believe the luggage was owned by some sort of gangster/criminal/fugitive.

Shouldn't the hotel go on the assumption that when a guest checks out, and housekeeping finds a bag in the room, that said bag belongs to the guest, and they should attempt to contact said guest? I think the hotel has a lot to answer for.

I don't feel as threatened by someone that is hiding a little pot as I do by those that go through others luggage or infringe on others rights to own a gun or a knife. They must have had an idea that the luggage belonged to the person that rented the room and I suspect could have contacted him through information from his room registration.

Do any of you know what a real "hippie" was? I was one but am not anymore because the world has changed so much that the concept of a hippie can not exist. A person can be an old ex-hippie but not an old hippie. At least that is my opinion.

My question is, can the weapons and drugs count as admissible evidence? I'm not 100% convinced that was a legal search, but then I could be wrong. The hotel room thing does make it sketchy.
