You must live in my heighborhood. Hello, welcome to our fine neighborhood.

It's odd, when we moved into our townhouse 13 years ago, all the neighbors said "hi" and we partied with them first night we were there. Today, the "new" neighbors barely wave in passing.

Oh, btw, I've lived here for 36 years, I remember when Reston was still being built, and TransPo 72 at Dulles, and the first Earth Day on the Mall, and when 7 Corners was an "upscale" shopping center, and Tyson's Corner was just a mall, not the mass of traffic and buildings it is today, and... I'll stop now.

Anyone else sick and tired of cold weather?

I am soooo ready for Spring!

So the party link never came up...weird.

2004-03-04 02:22:30 PM
I'd say let's party at the Brickskeller in Dupont...

2004-03-04 02:24:06 PM
I got tired of being a lower tier guy, went a paid the bones to be a TFer

2004-03-04 02:25:19 PM
Chairman

Is that where you been all day? With the TFers?

2004-03-04 02:25:28 PM
Kaga:

Welcome!

2004-03-04 02:25:59 PM
I could do Murphy's, it's a bit of a haul, but do-able.

And no-one better give me crap about my choice of beer.. Just get this out of the way up front...

2004-03-04 02:28:06 PM
Congrats ChairmanKaga!!!

I've been meaning to do that one of these days.

2004-03-04 02:28:08 PM
what kind? of beer?

2004-03-04 02:29:29 PM
OK, here's what we have so far:

Possible location: Murphys in Old Town Alexandria
Farkers coming: More than three.
mw451's choice of beer: Controversial. :)

2004-03-04 02:31:15 PM
I'd go as long as it's not in Maryland.

2004-03-04 02:32:52 PM
Fark Party link still hasn't been greenlighted yet....

2004-03-04 02:33:53 PM
Murphy's is cool with me. The Metro thing could be a problem for people though.

I'm good for March 20th. That's the first day of spring. This weekend I'm all booked up and next weekend is the Shamrock fest or whatever and I already promised my company to someone for that.

2004-03-04 02:35:42 PM
Let me re-phrase...I promised a friend of mine that I would join her for Shamrockfest, both of us being Irish bastages and all. I'm not an escort or "lady of the night" as I made it sound. Sorry to disappoint you, Farkers.

2004-03-04 02:38:31 PM
mw451
you can't leave us hanging like this, what's wrong with your beer? Do you habitually order the Beast at Irish pubs? Have you completely given over to Atkins except for Miller High Life?

2004-03-04 02:41:36 PM
Not that I can necessarily go, but I think it should be somewhere a bit more metro-accessible than Murphy's for us drinkers. All of the above locations sounded gooood.

2004-03-04 02:44:07 PM
OK, I'm not a big fan of Irish beers or stouts. I like a good German beer, but I usually just choose an all out American beer that everyone drinks but everone puts down.

Pass me a BUD!!!

/waits for the p-water comments

2004-03-04 02:44:11 PM
Supercrackmonkey: I'm in. How about someplace with ample parking, since we are all apparently not using HOV lanes or mass transit.

We are soooooo part of the problem. LOL

Let's party!!

2004-03-04 02:45:02 PM
Kaga:

Get to TF and post...I figure the more we can get to reply the better chance of getting it greenlighted.

mw451:
Heh, I haven't been alive 36 years, but I've lived up here for, oh, 27 years I guess. Used to live in springfield. I remember when it took like half an hour, at night, to get to the springfield mall, because there were no direct routes... and back when we had to "drop a friend off at Dulles airport" seemed like some half-day affair to drive them "all the way out there".

And yet, now I live 10 minutes from the same airport. Funny, that.

Annandale has always been Annandale, as far as I'm concerned, though. It is just as ugly and all sorts of 70s drab funky as it has always been.

Funny to see someone mention moving sidewalks. Remember when that was the plan for the Burke area, it was gonna be a next-generation community? Hence the Terra Centre (sp?) elementary school..

2004-03-04 02:47:27 PM
never odd or even

I live in Chantilly.

Oh, and the location, for Metro folks Murphy's would be a bit more difficult, and as I said earlier, it is a bit of a haul for me. The Clarendon/Ballston area would be better, and crap, I used to work in the office building above Ballston Commons, talk about a horrible commute.

2004-03-04 02:52:14 PM
We need to figure this out before it posts so we're on the same page before we get another crillion suggestions and then it'll never happen

2004-03-04 02:52:42 PM
I live near Westfield and Rt. 28 intersection. Just wondering if there's any chance we're in the same neighborhood.

2004-03-04 02:52:50 PM
I'm flexible, but I can see why we don't have many DC Fark Parties...you people are more inflexible than the politicians that run this joint...:)

/loves you all though...:)

teedz

You are sooo right on the Annandale thing, just plain 70s.

Burke, yea, and it turned into a mess. And you can't even get into Burke Lake on a nice day cause it gets packed. I caught my first fish at Burke Lake.

Oh, and I used to like Springfield Mall when they had video game places in there, but now I avoid Springfield at all costs due to the traffic mess down there. They have been doing construction on 95 for as long as I can remember, add a lane, finish project, start new project to add another lane. Rinse. Repeat.

*Clarendon**Clarendon**Clarendon*

2004-03-04 02:56:43 PM
never odd or even

I'm off of Stringfellow Road, between 50 and the Parkway.

2004-03-04 02:57:34 PM
Okay DCers, so what the hell is up with Newington?? That area is on the radio EVERYDAY when they do the traffic jam reports.

I would hate to live there...

2004-03-04 02:58:08 PM
Ripley Rules and I live in Farkland Chase by the Silver Spring Metro.

2004-03-04 02:58:47 PM
I second (or third) Clarendon! I could walk there and only have to worry about the potholes as I stumble home.

2004-03-04 02:59:32 PM
Ok then how about the Clarendon Ballroom roof (because you can smoke up there)? Everyone seemed to like that suggestion earlier.

2004-03-04 03:01:02 PM
OK, TF link did NOT get greenlighted....

2004-03-04 03:01:52 PM
THAT is some bullsheet!

2004-03-04 03:04:13 PM
OK, Drew doesn't support...I say FARK you JoBoo...we do it ourselves.

Where in Clarendon?

2004-03-04 03:05:05 PM
I quadruple Clarendon. That's close to me and metro accessible. What weekend?

2004-03-04 03:05:28 PM
Clarendon Ballroom then?

2004-03-04 03:06:18 PM
Years ago, when I worked for the Florida DOT, I saw a similar machine demonstrated. It had a vacuum (as mentioned above), a propane torch to heat the asphault around the hole, and a tar & aggregate hose to fill the pothole. It made a fair bond, but we weren't able to fill a pothole without makeing a ridge around it. The ridge was almost a bad as the original hole. We stayed with shovels and a small vibratory roller (when needed).

2004-03-04 03:07:10 PM
Carpool in Arlington is good because if you get bored with the crowd you can always play pool.

2004-03-04 03:08:30 PM
Why wouldn't they greenlight it? Makes no sense.

2004-03-04 03:08:33 PM
I say everyone put your email addy on your userid page and we can just email each other. If you get unwanted mail you just block it anyway.

/astonished that Drew doesn't want DC Farkers to meet each other

2004-03-04 03:09:01 PM
I second the idea of a place with pool tables.

2004-03-04 03:09:01 PM
mmmm... a vibratory roller

How far is your commute to DC? I've been looking for jobs and found several listed in Chantilly area, but wasn't sure if the drive would be prohibitive. I live in Rosslyn/Courthouse area.

I don't know about you, typo, but when I get bored, I usually just leave.

2004-03-04 03:09:44 PM
Clarendon Ballroom works for me.

2004-03-04 03:10:19 PM
Mine's in my profile. We can set up a Yahoo/MSN group to plan this as well...

2004-03-04 03:11:27 PM
noah that Rosslyn to Chantilly would be a reverse commute for you, no problem getting there, a little more traffic getting home but not too bad.

And for the love of god, never odd or even, you guys already dissed Buffalo Billiards although it's got pool tables, ambience, on the Metro, and about as central a location that you're ever going to find!

2004-03-04 03:12:19 PM

2004-03-04 03:12:47 PM
Buffalo Billiards! Buffalo Billiards!

2004-03-04 03:14:21 PM
Buffalo Billiars would be fine.
