I am very sick of Mac people. You don't have viruses because no one cares about you. It is not fun to infect 4 computers but it is apparently fun to infect 4 million.

Real simple rule about attachments... NEVER FREAKING OPEN THEM unless you KNOW who sent it, and was EXPECTING that spedific attachment.

But what if it promises naked pictures on Anna Kournikova? Good God man, we're only human.

And that's they way we like it.

It's like satellite radio vs. FM radio. Only a small fraction of radio listeners listen to satellite radio. But it's a helluva lot better than the commercial radio.

I am very sick of PC people who have no math skills or live in a cave. There at least 50 million worldwide Mac users, each owning at least one or more Macs.. Virginia Tech counts as one user, for example, and their SuperComputer cluster contains 1,100 Macintosh dual G5s (the #3 fastest supercomputer in the world).

So apparently your cave is too dark for you to see the real world, but is big enough to let viruses infect you.

Oh, and my two-foot dong says hello.

seems the hacker isn't the only moron in the story.

Far less than 1 Million of the Windows PCs get infected by these virus "outbreaks". This article reports that only 500,000 PCs were infected by the Blaster worm (according to US Gov and Symantec), resulting in Millions of Dollars of damage (according to Microsoft) (actually, that number may be Microsoft's direct costs).

There are approximately 10 Million Macs out there running OS X and most of them have no virus protection, a seemingly large, easy target for the virus writers, and considering the notoriety to be gained, why do ZERO VIRUSES affect Mac OS X? It's due in large part to Mac OS X being designed with security in mind, unlike Windows. It's far less work to spread viruses to a few thousand Windows PCs, because it's one of Microsoft's bestest built-in features! A rogue program can't just do whatever-the-hell-it-wants on a Mac, but it sure can in Windows!

Even if a virus is written for Mac OS X, the difficulty of getting it to spread and/or conning users to enter their password will probably cause the writer to abandon the idea rather than be embarrassed by a low infection rate.

/Stop contributing to the spread of PC viruses: tell the attachment-opening idiot users to get a Mac.
//People should have to pass a security test before being allowed access to an internet-enabled Windows machine.

The thing is, is there's no reason for anyone to get a virus. Anyone idiotic enough to download an infected file attachment doesn't deserve to own a computer. I've had a computer in front of me since 1985, and I've not once had a virus.

Meh. If you were so smart and knowledgeable, you'd know that viruses are not just transmitted by emails, but also through networks. So if your dumb co-worker opened an unsafe attachment, you can get infected as well, even if you didn't do anything wrong.
So I've gotten viruses before myself. Never through my own fault.

I still would like to see a public flogging or hanging when/if they catch any of these folks --- the traffic from the outside hitting our firewall & servers is just incredible.

During my internship when I was fixing 5 or more Windows PC's a day... I purchased a Macintosh... used it everyday of that internship because I was so sick of Windows.

Nice having a computer that just works and is easy to configure and use.

P.S. When grandma and grandpa ask about buying a computer, Mac is the choice... unless you want them calling you at all hours with problems.

Whenever you see viruses or worms, insert Windows before them, because that's what they are.

Windows viruses

Windows worms
