You all should read the chapter in PJ O'Rourke's Eat the Rich on Sweden (AKA "Good Socialism"). The book overall is a good read for those who want to know the basics of economics without being bored. The guy has a good sense of humor, and looks at countries that are good and bad examples of capitalism and socialism, giving the pros and cons in each case. (Sweden is the "good socialism" example; Cuba is the bad)

so I'm walking around when I hear some noise of grunts and rustling cardboard... I turn the corner around a building and I see this refrigerator-sized cardboard box rustling in place, with grunts of sex coming from inside.

That is so funny. I was just about to post about seeing the same thing in downtown Toronto. Except it was 10 AM and I on my way to work. And there was no cardboard box, just two crackheads in a doorway. Ugh!

I think my favorite display of public sex had to be back when I ran cross country in high school. One of the courses went through what would appear to be a secluded wooded area. So, as I ran with about 20 other guys, we went through this area and there were two people having sex right in the middle of the damn course. We then had to go through a narrow chute. Me and the guy from the other team were laughing so hard, we almost tripped up right there.

This was a two lap course. They weren't there the second time.

Not good if you actually want to keep money you earn by working. Taxes higher than 50%? Nothing good about that. I'd rather live in a country where the streets are paved with the bodies of the infirm and keep money I work hard to earn than give 50% of my income to people that fark in the park to protest the fact that the government doesn't give them a free ride in life.
