You can also blame the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) for this crap. Let's spend a gazillion dollars rebuilding America so that a few unfortunate handicapped people can ride some crappy ride too.

Just ranting.

Okay, this may have been covered but just for those who are confused out there:

Disneyland = California
Walt Disney World = Florida (so named because of the shape of Epcot Center's landmark)

My wife wouldn't let me spin those things that fast anyway on our honeymoon. Now when we go a second time I'll have an excuse using all my strength.

I am from California and I grew up far away enough and poor enough that Disneyland used to be an event for me and my family. There was magic, fun and a sense of something real going on when I was a kid.

Since then, all I see are plastic robots, cardboard cutouts and a mad grab for my cash and the cash of people my age who now have kids who are still under the delusion that the magic they felt as a kid is still there.

I still go there from time to time now and the one of the only things there that truly allows me to remember what fun Disneyland used to be is the Mad Tea Party ride.

The magic is gone people, let Comcast buy up Disney and make Disneyland a ride park. The sooner we do it the better.

I guess it never occured to you that it's you who changed, not the park? As the parent of a small child I can tell you the magic is still there to the little ones.

Disneyland has always been a moneymaking operation, you just missed how much it cost when you were 10. Go back and ask your parents, I bet they thought Disney lost it's magic 30 years ago.

You're thinking of the Carousel of Progress, BTW. Not U of Energy.

Not true. WDW is named that way because we have so much more space to build upon and we were originally going to have more than one park. DL is named that was because they were so cramped they were only going to have the one park. Then we found room for 2.

Also, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea closed for a few reasons.

1) Big metal boats in a pool of water + Florida lightning = bad. They'd have to shut it down every time it rains. And in the summer, that's every day.

2) It wasn't wheelchair accessable. If they ever decided to change the ride, they would have had to bring it up to ADA code, which went into effect after the Magic Kingdom and Epcot both opened. They could have grandfathered it in, but seeing as it was a crappy attraction, it needed a rehab, and there was no real way to fix that.... they closed it.

In '99, I got horrifyingly drunk and decided to go with a group of equally-drunk sailors to Tokyo Disneyland on Christmas Day. Spun the teacups and puked in the garbage can right afterwards. Good times.

I just went to Tokyo Disneysea this past Christmas. Nice place. I puked on the Indiana Jones Adventure ride.

Basically, I puke every time I go to Disney-related theme parks.

Stripe --- that rotating theater thing? I was there one time and it crushed someone to death, park closed, everyone out. Crazy.

Waah, I never got to ride them in their original state! The world would be a better place if more things rotated.

How is this asinine? What is asinine is the opposition to tort reform that would make this unnecessary.

I'll be leaving for the Magic Kindom in CA in just a few weeks as a chaperone with my son's High School Band. While our family has been there several times, most recently this past summer, there are many, many kids in this band that haven't been more than 300 miles from home...ever! They are so looking forward to Disneyland, and I, honestly, am looking foward to spending four days with these kids. To see Disneyland through their eyes again...just makes the magic happen all over again.

"Disneyland went "safety prevention crazy," said author Dave Koenig, who has written three Disney-related books."

Safety prevention?
