Ah yes, Public Defenders. Check out all the bars that are around court houses. It's not coincidence.

2004-02-26 01:24:33 PM
- C'mon, it's beer. At least the guy's got his priorities straight.

2004-02-26 02:59:16 PM
sounds like Manny Ramirez, except he don't know a thing about defense. Can't wait for the baseball season to start.

You get what you pay for with Public Defenders.

Honestly, if you EVER get in trouble, get your own lawyer, it don't matter if you need to sell a kidney, GET YOUR OWN LAWYER!

I got sick like that once.

....lots of times...

2004-02-26 03:07:14 PM
Man, I call in sick all the time when I'm not really sick. Of course, I get an alotted number of days per year that I stick to, so it's not like I'm screwing anybody. I should read my contract and see if it's grounds for dismissal.

2004-02-26 03:07:52 PM
I do this all the time. Where is my news story?

My Summer Vacation, by brap, First grader in Ms. Perriwinkle's special needs class

I went to Yellowstone. It was pretty. I saw a wolf.

Daddy drank a lot and looked at funny magazines and rubbid himsef. Juice flew out of his wee-wee. He said it was old faithful.

Daddy barfed in the woods. I couldn't find it. I think a moose ated it up. Mommy is still on vacation. Dad hits me when I missing her.

The End

Thanks for loading up that image in my mind. Ugh.

Could have been having raging diarrhea or any other of the small but job-affecting short-lived maladies.

But everyone loves to try to stir up a 'scandal'.

meh.

The point here is that she was fired for this behavior, and someone reinstated her with back pay! If that isn't amazing enough: Inspite of her reinstatement, she still has a federal discrimination lawsuit pending. Apparently, her work place discriminates against lazy people.

They are lawyers, should have been the obvious tag.

"District Judge Russell Fagg testified Wednesday that he considered Bevolden one of the "top three" criminal attorneys in Yellowstone County."

Judge's name is funny by itself...

2004-02-26 03:23:53 PM
Man that article reads like a soap opera script.

2004-02-26 03:25:54 PM
*Mental Note*
Don't do anything stupid in Yellowstone County that would require the public defence.

2004-02-26 03:29:44 PM

"Another male attorney in the office, who was not identified, was not working on his cases and in one instance was preparing to have a woman who was charged with felony drunken driving plead guilty, even though the offense was rightfully a misdemeanor. After a string of similar complaints, the attorney was asked to resign, Selvey said."

Yea, and a lot of people in the Fark thread from yesterday were making fun of people who went to ITT Institute. These people are lawyers who have to pass a bar exam, and they seem like bigger farkups than some of the worst people I've worked with.

And I wouldn't hit that female lawyer with YOUR supoena.

ShoeNut : "This article made no sense whatsoever. It read like brap's post."

I agree. If this was originally written in English, whoever wrote it should be fired. I couldn't make heads or tails out of anything past the 2nd paragrgaph.

Don't people have to take english classes to get a degree in writing any more? I'm seeing more and more profesisonal news agencies with 3rd grade spelling and grammar mistakes. Don't these people have editors? If not, why not? If so, why don't they say "Hey, your article sucks balls. Rewrite it."

?!

"The hearing at the C'mon Inn starts at 8:30 a.m." Gold...pure gold..

2004-02-26 03:40:42 PM
Never use a public defender unless you have to! They get paid too little to give a shiat about you.

2004-02-26 03:42:38 PM
Feanor: Nope, nothing exciting. And we like it like that. I get all the excitement I need of the 'net.

They really need to make the Public Defenders much better, equal to the expertise of the DA's. Before you jump all over me for this, I think doing so will make such travesties like the OJ trial much less commonplace as it will make the DA's actually have to work for a conviction so when they do run into good for-hire defense lawyers like OJ could afford, they won't be made into fools and lose a case that should be a slam-dunk.

2004-02-26 03:14:44 PM ShoeNut "This article made no sense whatsoever. It read like brap's post."

I resent that. When I submitted that paper 30 years ago my teacher gave me a gold star, which I am very proud of. It still hangs on my fridge next to Learning Annex, Making and Arranging Silk Flowers class perfect attendance certificate.

After I wrote that paper, my magnum opus my life greatly improved and a nice lady from Human Services visited me every week, until, as daddy so eloquently said, "Your balls dropped, you finally sprouted pubes, and finally became a man and got the hell out of my goddamned house."

2004-02-26 03:51:13 PM
Innocent until proven ITT graduate.

2004-02-26 03:51:33 PM
This defendant should just be thankful he's not in Texas, where they would probably have tried, convicted, and executed him without a lawyer.

2004-02-26 03:53:02 PM
Befuddled: I think the public defenders in this country do a fine damned job! A credit to the profession.

Lawyers, Housing, health care, or what ever, you get what you pay for. If you want a great lawyer, housing, or health care then you need to pay for it yourself.
Depend on the government for your needs and you will be short changed every time.
