Never been a big fan of WoW.

But those are some solid farking tributes.

This is one of the reasons I've always preferred WOW to every other MMO RPG out there.

The game is absolutely chock full of sly references to various cultural phenomenon.

I stopped playing a couple months back when I realized I had 19 90s but intend to go back when WoD drops.

Nice l'il tribute to a funny funny man, Blizz. Well done.

That's nice, Blizzard.

Still not buying the next expansion or even going back into WoW, though.

They should make one that looks like Mork's rainbow suspenders.

Oh, arbitrary rules, yay! Do they have to be in specific colors and have a pony, too? What about size, can they be whatever size they want, or do you mandate that too? I'm sure your vote on Fark.com will completely sway them since you're not paying and likely won't anyway!

You'd be amazed at how many 'famous' athletes, actors, etc are. Lots of down time + addictive cheap game playable on a midpriced laptop, and internet anonyminity FTW.

I go back to WoW every now and again, then 3 months later I'm out again. I just don't have the time to raid and become leet like the old days, plus, I refuse to spend that much time in games anymore. I play SWTOR now, and even while unemployed, I spend less than 20 hours a week in it, 4 of that being a Raid. If it weren't for RL friends, I probably wouldn't play it, or any other MMO, at all. I'm just kind of over them, though they do offer great distractions from RL.

It's data-mined from the beta for the next xpac, it's only fail if (after the large number of people saying the same thing as you) they don't correct it by release.

I'm in the same boat. I actually haven't played much of any games since I got into 3D modelling. But last week or so I've been playing SW:TOR since it's free-to-play.  It was almost 2 years since I last played it which made it very odd when I loaded it up. "Where am I? What am I doing? What do these quests mean?" It was like having amnesia.

I'd go back to WoW if they made it free-to-play but even though Blizzard has lost half of its subscribers I hear they've stated they'd rather just shut WoW down than go free-to-play.

I don't think it's particularly arbitrary - if and when either of them comes back, it means Blizzard are getting back to the main storyline instead of all this boring crap with Pandaria and Outlands mk2.

Robin was a life long gamer :

Odds are decent someone here killed monsters in an MMO with him. I remember when we found him in the UO user database and were in disbelief.
Really sad.- Raph koster

Similar experience in DAoC (I was the one that went data-diving for it, after he mentioned our game in an interview).  At some point, he sent his guildmates a pic of himself playing his character in DAoC, to prove it was really him.  Supposedly he played nearly every MMO.

They do.  They have lost millions of subscribers in the past two years.  WoW is one of the best games ever, but it is on the downslide.  All great empires eventually fall.  I wonder what realm he played on.  Probably not the obscure pvp realm I did.

Well, they finished the story. It was set up by Warcraft III, and the Arc was Arthas. Once you killed him, it was kinda like "Ok, now what?".

Kung fu pandas have been part of the game since before Warcraft 2. Boo hoo you don't like it. I'm sure it's everyone's loss.

The thing about WoW is that 800-pound gorillas die slow. They've lost about half of their player base since the heyday of Wrath -- that would be catastrophic (maybe even CATACLYSMIC lol oh god shoot me) for any other MMO, but they've still got far and away more active than any other American MMO has ever dreamed of. It's never going to get back to eight-digit player levels unless they completely rebuild the game, which is a huge waste of time when it's still printing money for them and they've got other shiat to be developing.

I figure they'll ride that pony until a) it somehow manages to get small enough to be unprofitable (which could easily be another 5+ years) or b) they manage to develop something else that comes anywhere close to cranking out that much money for them.

I don't think it's necessarily WoW itself that's dying as much as the subscription MMO genre as a whole. It was just such a juggernaut that it's taking much longer to bleed out than most of the others.

There is an interview with Henry Cavill where he says he nearly missed the call that he got the part of Superman because he was in the middle of a WoW raid.

/FWIW I liked Man of Steel

Geek cred, he has (no, not had) it.

Cool tributes, haven't played WoW since few months before Cata. Honestly, most fun I had with the game was on the WoWgasm free-server, doing PVP on the fun-realm Nexus. Levelcap 255, all skill trees maxed out, custom gear...good times.

/RP "vanilla" realm had some cool people too...wonder if that place is still around...

Seem to remember years ago, the Simpsons were parodying some Disney movies and they altered the titles, even some of the songs made famous by the movies.  Disney seems like the type of company that would unleash a team of lawyers on Blizzard or any company that used something they "thought up"

/had two level 70's when I quit can't really play now because of work and if I read right about the new expansion don't think I would want to play if they are going to let new players come in right at level 90 and take the fun out of questing.
