It is not a place for people to bring their own cats. This place just has a few rescue cats that make their home there.

FTFA:  Unfortunately, cat lovers are not able to bring their own pets into the shop at this time.

I don't think that is unfortunate. Cats in unfamiliar territory with unfamiliar cats would not work out well.

I disagree. Crazy cat people with there precious little psycho-beasts not understanding why cats act like cats rather than their sugar coated hallucination of how cats act?

Sadly this will never work in the USA, because apparently someone's allergy is apparently the whole world's problem here. All it takes is some helicopter parent whose snowflake has a cat allergy and it would get shut down immediately.

/bitter atm because teacher wife now isn't allowed to bring PB and jelly for lunch anymore because parents don't want to teach their crotchfruit not to eat other people's foods leading to the school banning all peanut products

//because, you know, instead of teaching people to be self sufficient it's better to teach them that the whole world will always cater to their every single need

I was gonna, but then I saw the "OMG CRAZEEE CAT STUPIDS PEOPLES" were already in the thread and didn't want to give them fodder.

It actually was the first thing I noticed.  :)  Then I wanted one, then I imagined the bloodshed if I actually tried that with any of my cats, and immediately went back to just admiring the picture.

The fact that it's not even their own cat and they don't have to commit to changing the kitty litter only re-enforces my original statement.

So it's not possible that people would just like to have a break somewhere in their day with the company of cats even if they have their own cats?  Or people that rent in places that don't allow pets but who still like cats?

<CSB>

Back in the early 90s Allen Ginsberg did an instore appearance at Tower Records in NYC.  I wasn't really a fan of his but a friend of mine was so I stood in line to get a copy of his book signed for her while she got her prized Howl red vinyl from the 1950's signed by him.  He'd mainly smile and nod to the people stopping in front of him to get various items signed and to gush over him. Sometimes he'd give a mundane "hi" or "how are you?" but he wasn't really engaging his fans overmuch.  He made a point to at least make a nice comment on my friend bringing a copy of his album but when I came up to him after her he looked me up and down once and said, "caaaaat".

To this day I still get a chuckle out of it when I remember it.

Correct.  Abandoned/stray cats acclimate (generally speaking) to strange cats pretty well.  They depend on them to hunt for food, etc.

An indoor cat is not used to competition for space and food... which is precisely what they consider new, strange cats to be.

We have a ton of outdoor strays in my neighborhood.  They never fight.

I have indoor cats, and the times we've introduced a new one... all hell breaks loose.  Takes months for the cats that have been there to accept the new one.  Sometimes years.

Well, there's a difference between two cats running into each other in neutral territory and introducing a new cat into another cat's home/lair.

In my experience cats indoor introduced into a home a few years apart often progress to "let's agree to disagree" and mostly ignore each other, but no further. Kittens introduced together end up as best buds though.

Yup. A couple have actually opened and closed and the same with maid cafes from what I read.

/ still haven't been to either in the US or Japan; not my thing, and my neighbourhood in Tokyo had plenty of cute cats hanging out that wanted pettin's had I the desire. Friend tried to get me to go to maid cafe, politely declined.
