This is the helmet he should have worn that day, but he wasn't even supposed to be there.

Nice. But is anyone else on mobile seeing links as black text, not a different color now?

Or do I have to factory reset this biatch after only 4 months

You just totally redeemed this post. I came here to say: barring something truly spectacular, the whole accident-caught-on-GoogleMaps thing is played out.

But it was worth it for that glorious picture.

Thank you.

Nope, your phone is fine. Unless it's a Samsung S4, which I already can hardly wait to upgrade in 2 years. F*ckers.

Anyway yeah, Drew&Co have been tweaking the mobile experience and unrolled this yesterday. Also the links are suddenly vivid green. But I was also given TF yesterday so I'm not sure what changes are part of the new mobile links and what might just be a TF thing.

My only concern with quoted Farker's names being black text now is that it looks like unlinked bold text. New folks may not realize that you can click on the name to be taken back to the original quote.

A friend crashed the other day in USA.  Shorts, no helmet or gear.  Collar bone, 8 or 9 ribs, punctured lung, cut on face, road rash.  I guess a deer jumped out from wherever deer jump out from.

Stay safe out there, motorcyclists!

I had that very video in mind when I was talking about the "truly spectacular" exception to the GoogleMaps-accidents-are-played-out thing. Granted this video isn't GoogleMaps, but this level quality is what I mean.

/and by GoogleMaps I mean StreetView. Just to clarify.

It looks like he started to swerve in the first photo. Incorrectly I might add. Looks like he's leaned the bike right and he's leaning left. A rookie move. I wonder if the rear slipped a little on the solid lane divider.

Clearly I need sleep because this is my third clarification in two threads in the last 10 minutes.

I didn't realize what you meant until the third read. I had no idea SBinRR's link was a *hotlink* until I understood what you were talking about. I had just been assuming that there were more mobile users lately doing cut-and-paste, not-hotlinked addresses.

So thanks for helping me discover that.

Also, by the "suddenly vivid green" reference in my last comment, I was talking about the headlines. They're suddenly quite green on my phone. Is that new or is that a TF thing?

Green is a TF thing. Go deeper and you'll even find heavily commented vivid red & sometimes blue headlines.

And yes, I have an s4 -active. All beer drinkers should have liquid resistant phones. Once I turned off all the sammy & deathstar bloatware it's fine. Have been noticing the typical downward responsiveness curve typical for android after 4-6 months use though. Almost time to take a half day to backup stuff, factory reset, rekill bloat and restore. If you do this I recommend superbackup for your data (to sd card which is removed before factory reset) , and screenshots of how you had your icons arranged. Reload downloaded apps from the store instead of backing up, or some cruft & crud will come back as well. Unless it's something with its own db that doesn't sync up anywhere, like Torque.

The best thing about that video beside that thud, thud, thud, thud, whoosh is that the scooter starts out with a passenger.  After the first thud the passenger decides "You know what I'll sit this out and stay right here."  They then pretty much just hang out in traffic and still manage to be safer than the scooter rider.

Odds of your specific accident being caught by a street view camera: infinitesimal. Odds that a Google street view camera will catch an occasional accident: astronomical.

Also if you look on the actual google streetview link as  Closed_Minded_Bastage commented all of this happens in front of the police car just to the left and rear of the google  vehicle AND the jackass on the dirt bike rides off without stopping (once they pick the bike up).

my brother and I went to Hampton Beach one summer.  At the north end of Atlantic Boulevard where it is two way before it peels off by the Ashworth By The Sea to go behind the main drag, we were waiting for cross traffic heading out of town at the exit to rte 101.

I heard the whring whrrrinnng whraaannnng of a crotch rocket being wound up behind me.  I look in the rear view and see two shirtless yahoos (and being NH, helmetless) wearing shorts and sneakers talking up some girls on the sidewalk and showing off their bikes.  Dipwad puts it into gear and lifts the front tire.  When he put it down, he had a lot less room in front of him than he thought and began to panic.  I see the oscillation and know what's coming, and sure enough he flips the bike into a somersault and it's coming right toward my car.

I look at the cars passing in front of me, wait until the guy is just clear of my bumper and goose my gas.  I cut off the guy looking to go across the street but fakr him, I've got 4 hundred plus pounds of bike tumbling towards my bumper.  Actually by this time, even they see what's happening behind me as all eyes are turning towards the spectacle unfolding.  The bike misses my bumper by maybe a foot.  The rider tumbled into the bumper of the car beside me, who sat there oblivious to what was happening.  Flat top picks himself up off the ground and tries to pick up his bike, almost makes it but not quite and nearly gets caught underneath it as it sags to the pavement again.  Some bystanders run up to help and they get the bike to the side walk.  Evel is now starting to feel the effects of his foolery and I imagine the fluid was starting to seep through the road rash.

I left him to his misery.  As long as I wasn't impacted or involved, I wasn't going to waste my time giving a statement.  Stupid squid can stew in his own juices.

I have been to this town.  Nice part of Brazil with great beaches not far away and nice cliffs for hang gliding.
The name of the town is Blumenau which I always heard as 'Blow me now' in Beavis' voice.

Bangkok, but the traffic is so dense that motorcycle accidents seldom hit the ground.
