Why are they remaking Shazam? Shaq was perfect in the original.

More that the writing for those was not stellar. Kids movies can be great.

Still, a Captain Marvel movie sounds Fun.

I'm not sure I'm ok with this whole "fun" thing.  Maybe DC should consider dialing it down a notch.

IIRC, Shazam is a little kid who turns into a grownup superhero whenever he says a magic word, and one of his biggest enemies is Mr. Mind, a super-intelligent worm that wears little worm-sized glasses so you can instantly tell just how smart he is. I don't think anyone was expecting Frank Miller and Christopher Nolan to collaborate on making a dark, gritty version of this character.

/but if Affleck takes a break from Supes vs Bats to play a hard-driven conflicted version of the worm, I might not be able to resist buying a ticket.

So, they've got the Rock playing Black Adam.  It's quite possibly the perfect casting for the role, and he deserves someone else equally as hammy to be his opponent.  I believe you all know who I'm talking about.

That's right.

JOHHHHHHHHHHNNNN CENA!

Just imagine it.  Two wrestlers, probably the most popular Face and Heel of the last 20 years, hamming it up in a superhero movie.  It's the perfect combination.  And since DC is apparently trying to make this more of a kid's movie (nothing wrong with that), why not grab probably the most popular kid's actor in the country?

/Hell, wrestlers practically play superheros every week already
//and seeing John Cena act like a ten year old trying to act adult will be funny as heck

2014-09-03 07:00:25 PM
That's racist.

"Black Nova Scotian Samoan American Adam" would be the proper nomenclature.

Don't worry, the costumes will be muted and the director was chosen for his history with kids movies.  He's been told to capture the feeling of the wife's death from "Up".

As much as I don't like wrestling, I have to say this isn't a horrible idea. I would actually put it on the positive side of ideas. Wrestlers that stay popular usually stay popular because they are good actors and they are great at physical stunts.

Weirdly, I think john cena is too big of a name for the lead role. My thought would be this:
1. Get a big name as the villain (Dwayne johnson) who can carry the first movie.
2. Get a decent actor who you can sign to multiple films for cheap to play the hero.

Though, that is more of the way Marvel does things, so....

Not a bad choice, but kinda swarthy...didnt realize he was as big as he is until i saw him next to Schwarzenegger in Sabotage. If he werent playing Gambit, id say Channing Tatum.
