"Despite the increasingly undeniable evidence of his failures across the board, President Obama's overall approval rating remains relatively high. Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations."

It's also possible that the public is - understandably - reluctant to acknowledge that the nation's first black president is failing at the job.

But one big, important reason for Obama's approval gap is the mainstream media's seemingly inexhaustible bias in favor of him.

After spending eight years relentlessly attacking Bush, journalists have devoted the past six to attacking Obama's critics.

There's no doubt that, absent his media praetorian guard, Obama's ratings would be much, much lower, all down the line.

I was going to write a bit about how stupid the IBD editorial board is, but I think their work speaks to that fact adequately enough.

So says the biased media.

Republicans are pretty happy with Obama. He's given them much to talk about and business loves  him. They're doing great. Workers on the other hand...

He's doing an excellent job considering the sole goal of the gop since his election has been to destroy his presidency. I have as yet to hear a viable alternative from anyone to solve any of the problems he  is facing.  Bomb them back to the stone age is not one of them.

His approval ratings are up because not everyone believes IBD.

I wish it wasn't true. I am not a big fan of any of the Republican presidential candidates but Ill take one of them if only for the fact maybe the media will do its farking job and be a pain in the butt for the people in power. Currently Obama gets no real criticism and is let off the hook for everything wrong he has done not only by every media outlet but even fark gives him a free pass. it makes me ill that such ineptitude is given no heat whatsoever.

I like the idea "We cherry pick 7 subjects on which Obama polled poorly compared to his overall approval rate, and ignore all the other topics on which he polls close to or better than his overall approval rate, this cherry picking of data proves a bias!". Well yes, but it isn't the bias you say you are proving.

Regrettably, that doesn't happen anymore.

Cheat on your wife using state funds and blow your gig as governor?  Get elected to Congress.

Pressure your wife and mistress into getting abortions while working to restrict the legal rights for others to have them?  Get reelected.

Predict a Romney landslide?  Unskew.

He is not successful that is the problem

I'll tell you what's keeping those numbers up. Yes, there are things to not be happy about but every day I'm glad he's holding back the wall of derp coming from the right. Again, not the best job ever but extremely difficult and important. It will probably be more important after the 2014 elections.

ManateeGag: wait!  I thought his approval rating was the lowest ever in the history of the universe!

Actually, string theory suggests that there are actually other universes in which Obama's popularity is even lower than in this one.

And who can blame IBD for a nice, cheap "Democrats are the real racists" shot.
