It doesn't get much lower than stealing private photographs and blasting them onto the internet for the e-perverts.

How about being an e-pervert, and blasting into a Kleenex?

So it's better to not use Kleenex?

What if the photos have no sexual content?

More to the point, what if they have nudity, but it's artistic?

Then you're exactly like a rapist, and should be castrated, apparently.

What if my CC didn't have much left on the balance when it was stolen? What if it were a really pretty CC?

So you feel that if someone were to gain unauthorized access to my phone, and copied photographs of random non-sexual things (pictures of chairs or pizza or something), and posted them online without my permission, that that constitutes a sex crime?

In your world are litterers terrorists because depositing trash on the ground is attacking the homeland?

Physical theft is a terrible analogy. This is more like pirating movies, but also with illegal access in whatever fashion to get the original copies. But you probably can't see the difference there either.

Stealing pictures of pizza and sharing is isn't the same of stealing nude pics and sharing them.

Also, way to call the lady a white knight.  Try not to knock your fedora off patting yourself on the back for that burn.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were debating the headline.

Stolen pictures that are used for sexual purposes are indeed a sex crime regardless of nudity or artistic value. See the arrests made for upskirt pics.

How is physical theft a terrible analogy? It's property, isn't it? Or do you believe some property is less intrinsically property than other property? Copyright violation has to do with copying public goods like art and reselling them without paying for a license. This has to do with stealing private goods. Do you see a difference there? In one case the goods are made public by the wronged party who does not receive payment for commercial use of those goods, and in the other, the goods are never intended for publication.

ginandbacon: How is physical theft a terrible analogy? It's property, isn't it? Or do you believe some property is less intrinsically property than other property?

Because with physical theft, you are depriving someone else of said property. Making copies of someone's nudies does not deprive them of said pics.

ginandbacon: Copyright violation has to do with copying public goods like art and reselling them without paying for a license.

You don't have to make one red cent off of the copies to be guilty of a copyright violation.

I hesitate to hypothesize why it's an uphill climb to get most cishet "beta" men to give two farks about this because it's an ugly conclusion and likely to get people upset with me rather than the people who I'm describing.

OTOH, the new generation of kids seems to have a very different outlook on life, so maybe my cynicism is unwarranted.

This is actually an interesting observation. If you have a penis, you're seen as insincere and cynically trying to "score" by siding with women on women's issues. (Which is absurd because being a "nice guy" does not entitle you to sex - but maybe that's what's being communicated by being called a white knight.)

Gecko Gingrich: James!: Explain then.

She's in just about *every* thread waving her new "Fark has 'banned' misogyny" banner in everyone's face. She's the Fark equivalent of an annoying Steelers fan, looking for any reason to shout "six rings!" regardless of whether it's germane or not. Look at her Boobies (intentional, to show Drew's hypocrisy) in this one for example. Not a smidgen of misogyny present in the thread, but that didn't stop her from lambasting it.

You can accuse her of "poisoning the well" but you would be hard-pressed to demonstrate she's WRONG.

Are you a dick for taking enjoyment in the theft and distribution of said pictures? Yes.

It's not that difficult, people. Don't be a dick.

So, if someone views the pics and doesn't fap, they haven't committed a sex crime?

How is physical theft a terrible analogy? It's property, isn't it?

Because copying a picture, unlike theft, does not deprive the owner of the copyright their copy of the picture. It's called "intellectual property" for a reason.

Although that's a different thread, altogether.

Speaking generally, people should understand what's going on when they use cloud storage. You are handing your data to Apple, or Microsoft, or Google, and relying upon them to keep it safe. If you upload personal data, such as credit card numbers, your social security number, or nudey pics, you're trusting that company to keep that data secure for you.

In the case of iCloud, apparently there are schoolboy errors in their security policies; entering a wrong password several times doesn't lock the account, so attackers are free to brute force passwords.

Your data is only as secure as the least secure server on which it is stored.

Because Americas sweetheart Jennifer Lawrence is involved? Funny how so many peoples pics were stolen, yet hers is the only name mentioned in the majority of these articles.
