I think it's safe to say that Walmart will be firing the guy in the red shirt for punching the suspect in the head a couple of time.

How's that asphalt taste dumbass?

As would I, but given that Walmart has fired employees in the past for using force against a shoplifter this guy's days are numbered.

And it's not just Walmart that has similar policies regarding shoplifters. Employees of Albertsons & Home Depot have been fired for chasing shoplifters.

The camera guy should have gotten a worse beating for holding the phone vertically.

I part-time at Lowes and the policy there is to *never* touch, much less chase the scumbag.
tell loss prevention if you suspect/see shoplifting and let them let the scumbag get away.

Pretty sure the "shoplifter's" head cracked open when the "security guard" slammed him into the asphalt. Fully expect red and black shirt to both be fired and possibly get involved a civil suit with white shirt. I also expect that the three stooges in this video all flunked out of the same high school, have IQs in the double digits, and have never left their state before.

This kinda shiat is the exact opposite of loss prevention. More like hope prevention.

Nice job picking up / tainting the evidence, dumbass

The shoplifter tried to stab him. Assault with a deadly weapon trumps any excessive force claim. There will be no lawsuit.

Yeah, Wally World is getting sued. I doubt that whatever Mr Stickyfingers was able to stuff into his pockets cost as much as Walmart is going to spend on attorney fees.

STOP RESISTING *punch* *punch* *punch*

Do they think they are cops and can get away with assault?

They clearly delivered the first blows and the headlock is already assaulting so the guy was just defending himself with the knife. He should have knifed them both and claimed self defense because it farking was self defense.

2014-09-01 08:41:43 AM
Cops - even rent-a-cops - can pretty much get away with almost anything these days.

Security guard-like typing detected.  Are you counting the biting as continued use of deadly force?  Because that's all the perp had left *before* the body slam and long before the rounds of giving him the business to the face.

Meanwhile I think what's important here is that nothing of value will be lost over the incident.

2014-09-01 08:46:17 AM
It's too bad the perp was a white guy. If he had been black, the Ferguson Po-lease would have released this as the Michael Brown theft.

2014-09-01 08:51:30 AM
Yea, I don't know about that one. Seems to me the two Rent-a-Cop wannabes are going to jail. Yes the guy tried to stab them, he was getting his ass beat by 2 people who do not have the right to put their hands on him, he can cry self-defense all day long if that video makes it to evidence.

2014-09-01 08:55:15 AM
Really Fark mods? This is an acceptable video?

2014-09-01 08:55:18 AM
That was from a "loss prevention" team?

I've been bouncing, and had less contact with folks. You call the police, you may try to corral folks, and you try like Hells to NOT initiate contact. You only initiate contact like that when there is threat of physical harm to another patron or part of your team. That is a lawsuit in the making. Don't get me wrong, there will likely be assault charges on the bastiche who got dropped for the boxcutter or whatever he had, but considering the situation, that might actually go away due to the use of force.

The decision to initiate contact like this escalated the whole damn thing, and you never want to escalate with folks, for just this reason. You never know what someone might have snuck in. I got nine stitches from a skinhead with a Swiss Army knife during a show once, and while that was a clear cut case of assault as I was restraining someone else and got popped in the ribs while I had the another guy down, this guy's lawyer might be able to shoehorn the charges out of court because of the behavior of these cats in the parking lot. These guys did pretty damn much everything wrong, and two of them still couldn't restrain this cat enough to prevent him from getting to the blade in his pocket. That is some piss poor security work in progress.

Seriously. Call the police and let it go. It's stuff. Unless people are being directly threatened, let it go. He pulled a blade and threatened folks in the parking lot, that's a whole different story, but even then, call the police and let them deal with this stuff when you can. There's a reason I don't bounce any longer, and it's the desire to "help" that can get you into the most trouble.

2014-09-01 08:55:43 AM
News flash- Walmart loss prevention /= police. I worked at Walmart for 10 years during and post-high school. We were strictly informed that you never touch a shoplifter, and that the only thing LP could do was attempt to keep them in the store. These two morons were so out of line it's ridiculous.

Have fun getting a job after being fired from Walmart, the bottom of the employee barrel.

Dude is getting beat on by two guys not wearing uniforms, name tags, or anything that indicates they work for Wal-Mart; seems like that may be a valid claim to self defense. But what do I know? You're the legal expert!

Also I'm having a very hard time seeing the blade on that "knife." Seems to me the guy in the white shirt remembered he had something hard, yellow, and relatively pointy in his pocket and thought to himself "I'm really tired of these two farking overly aggressive, NON-LEOs trying put me in a choke hold and beat the shiat of me. Maybe if I thrust this pointy thing at them they will rethink their approach." But what do I know? You're the deadly weapons expert!

hubiestubert: The decision to initiate contact like this escalated the whole damn thing,

Does the video actually show who initiated the contact or are you just assuming it was the guards? Don't get me wrong, they should have just taken down the license plate and let him go, but the video starts while there is already a struggle happening.

2014-09-01 09:04:58 AM

lostcat: Really Fark mods? This is an acceptable video?

I did not see a single woman being demeaned or harassed, we're all good.

/double-standards, so handy!

I am assuming. Because they are identifying themselves, as loss prevention, and trying to make an arrest. I've seen too many idiot folks who do security, and these cats...they're less than professional. No way in Hells I want guys like these anywhere near a team I was on. They put themselves, the patron, and other patrons in danger. Was a he a thief? Entirely probable, but you don't lay hands on without damn good reason. And certainly not an ugly, stoopid ass tussle like that. Redshirt has about forty to fifty pounds on the bastiche on the ground, and he still didn't have control. That's piss poor training at work.

I hope you get tasered by some cops one day with that farked up attitude.

I've seen several shoplifters stopped and caught during my time at my retail job. Those that got violent and had to fight back were usually always overweight women of the "protected class" and every time they were held down on their stomachs while we waited for the police to show up they would claim that they were pregnant and that the LP folks needed to get off of them. One of them even threatened to call Jessi Jackson on us!

2014-09-01 09:49:56 AM
The beating aside, what kind of dipshiat tries to shoplift a Wal*Mart? There are ceiling cameras like every 10 feet. And the employees are all pissed off with nothing to lose.

2014-09-01 09:57:56 AM
Yyyyeeeah, after having watched that, those dudes are probably farked.  Not sure if there's any pre-video context that could help them out here.  Maybe, but it looks pretty bad.

ImOscar: Also I'm having a very hard time seeing the blade on that "knife."

Looked like a box-cutter type thing when the oh-so-skilled camera guy went to pick it up.  Hard to see exactly on my shiatty work screen, though.

2014-09-01 10:03:30 AM
The dude stole from Wally World.. elevated a larceny charge to armed robbery for pulling a knife and commiting assault with a deadly weapon.. then got what was coming.. no lawsuit, no firing.. the world is a nasty place. crime is ugly.

2014-09-01 10:18:56 AM
if that guy got away with the stuff then walmart would have to pay their employees even less so the taxpayer would have to pay even more for their food stamps and welfare so you should all be thanking those security guards for protecting walmarts profits.

agreed.

They do have a right to apprehend suspect(s) on their property. It is just usually against store policy to do so but not illegal in any way. Baitch pulls a sharp thing the gloves come off.

2014-09-01 10:23:32 AM
The two 'loss prevention' guys put their lives and jobs on the line to catch the perp who was robbing Walmart of 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the company's net worth.

Golf clap fer sure!

That evidence could have wound up in his taint.

I agree, if there was no way to avoid the confrontation.  Someone tries to stab me, or succeeds, then it's a fight for my life.  I'll be fighting like a raped ape.

Adrenaline.  It's a helluva drug.

Who's she again?

2014-09-01 10:40:19 AM
First, I'm pretty sure LP can't apprehend once the suspect leaves the store proper.

Second, bashing the suspect in the head ≠ subduing the suspect.

Third, WTF was the camera guy thinking, picking up the alleged weapon???

2014-09-01 10:45:24 AM
the 275lb guy forgot  the old stand on the hand so this can't happen again "thing".

all that for a pencil eraser???
no, but it might as well be.

Local cops are upset that there was a local beatdown and they weren't part of it.

This is why the open carry idiots scare the hell out of me - one guy wanting to play hero fires into a crowd that I happen to be in.

Oh my gawd! Oh my gawd! Oh my gawd!

Good!  Shop-lifters should be beaten with clubs.  Why the fark should I pay more because these scumbags steal stuff?

But they took the open carry course at the local gun show, which includes the instructional video "Die Hard". They know what they're doing.

Nah, these LP guys are getting fired.

Absolutely no doubt.

If for nothing else than for sucking at taking a guy down. They looked like they were trying to mount him at one point.

I don't think I've ever seen two guys on the same team work in complete opposite of one another. No wonder it took forever to get the perp on the ground.

2014-09-01 11:38:39 AM
There is nothing for sale in Wal-Mart that warranted that kind of beating. Nothing.

Both guys repeatedly strike the suspect.  The guy in the red shirt even slams his head into the pavement while he's being cuffed.

The absolute worst LP takedown I have ever seen.

Actually I think the video selection is 'Point Break'  and 'Men in Black II'.

I'm a criminal defense lawyer...25% of my cases are Walmart thefts.  People with drug addictions are extremely, um, "creative"
