Now there's a man with a plan.

2014-08-31 06:47:06 PM
What a brave patriot, telling other people to bomb other people and have other people face the consequences for it.

2014-08-31 06:47:45 PM
Subby, if someone's in the stone age, and you bomb them, then there's going to be metallic residue left over from the bombs. The survivors of the bombing can gather that residue and use it to enter the bronze, iron, or even steel age, depending on how much is left. So what you're actually doing is advancing them several millenia in technology. Think before you snark, idiot.

...Even though every single military expert is saying bombing them won't solve the issue alone. How do you "bomb someone back to the stone age" when they're hiding out in cities? I guess killing another 100,000 Iraqi civilians is just the price we they gotta pay, right? These guys aren't hanging out in remote camps like Al Qaeda where you can bomb the shiat out of them without collateral damage.

Remember when we won the Vietnam war by dropping more bombs in 6 weeks than were dropped during all of ww2 combined?

Oh wait..

Don't you know that it's always better to do something, as opposed to doing something intelligently?

Cruz doesn't have a Gottverdammt clue on what really to do, but he does NEED media time, because he's itching to get involved in a Presidential race, at some level, even if it's just to anoint the new Priest King. Killing Iraqis? What does he care? He just wants someone in the US to bomb someone, and despite the airstrikes to assist the Kurds earlier, that wasn't enough, remember? Because it was coordinated with ground forces, but they were the wrong sort of freedom fighters this week.

It doesn't matter. If the President waits, he's not doing enough. If he acts, it's too rash and will have unforeseen consequences. It doesn't matter. If'n the President is a fer it, then he's ag'in it. Nothing more. Nothing less. He just wants to look tough, despite the fact that he's a doughy, smarmy faced huckster faux Canuckistani who has dreams of governing competence.

Or with our faster-than-light, kills-only-bad guys smart bombs that Obama refused to use in Benghazi.

"They want to go back and reject modernity," he said. "Well, I think we should help them. We ought to bomb them back to the Stone Age."

Cruz made his remarks Saturday in Dallas at a summit for Americans for Prosperity, the political arm of the billionaire GOP donors Charles and David Koch.

Cruz joked about inviting President Obama to the southern border..."I figured out the only way there is a chance in heaven he might come (is if) I'm inviting him to come to a golf course," Cruz said.

A crowd of more than 3,000 at a hotel ballroom serenaded him with calls of "Run Ted, Run."

What a bunch of despicable twats.  THAT is why I hate conservatives/the GOP.  That shiat right there

And people still accuse me of hating conservatives because I envy their success.

Every person at that summit is a bad American.

I keep getting confused.  Are republicans for or against starting a full blown war against ISIS?  Or is their position just the exact opposite of whatever Obama said that morning (as usual) ?

It will be the exact opposite of whatever he decides to do.

Actually, the survivors of the bombing will be coated in the residue already. That will most likely transform them into cyborgs. Of course, because they'll realize they're human inside, it will drive them insane and turn them into even more psychotic killers. The only question is what kind of cyborg beings will they turn into. Borg? Cybermen? Terminators? Some super-creepy amalgam of them all?

I should expand on that. It will be the exact opposite of whatever he decides to do, even if what he decides to do is what they say he should do.

2014-08-31 09:06:37 PM
Uh yeah.  Air strikes alone aren't working very well this time since instead of bugging out like al Qaeda did, IS is mounting a tactical retreat.

2014-08-31 09:09:36 PM
To be fair, if we'd done this properly about twenty (maybe thirty) years ago, We'd have saved the world alot of grief.

Some would say that most would have been better served had the CIA done a more effective job of fanning the hostilities between Saddam's Iraq and Iran after Bush 1's action, or perhaps even before.

We could just ask ISIS if they would like to be our friends, I am sure that would work

And some would say that if the US and the major oil comapnies hadn't engineered the overthrow of a popularly-elected representative government in Iran and re-installed the corrupt Shah we'd have saved the world even more grief.

He should go over there, meet with those people, and explain to them for what sort of agenda he expects them to die.
His campaign, because they are of the wrong religion, or for some nebulous reason where he expects oil prices to drop.

/ Ted just go over there and tell them why their lives are meaningless.

I just love all these big brave military experts like the highly decorated war veteran Ted Cruz advocating rampant destruction and slaughter.

Now you're just talking crazy. Funny thing about that, most conservatives I know have no clue about Operation Ajax, or its consequences. Yet they all love to pontificate at excruciating length about the Middle East, as if they're all experts.

These people still don't have chairs.  Perhaps they're jealous of our four-legged elevated-sitting devices.

How much further back can one bomb a nation that fears chairs?

It's a solution. What's Obama's?

2014-08-31 09:33:02 PM
If it was that easy, it'd be done already.

They control 35,000 square miles of territory. That's as large as Jordan. Or, if you're American, Indiana. Most of their control is centered around population centers.

There are millions of people living under ISIS, so good luck easily distinguishing the 100,000 fighters.

And to make matters worse, if you're a Sunni, you probably love living under their control. They are winning hearts and minds in a way that neither we nor Team Maliki could hope.

So we start bombing these population centers that they retreat into, and you make the problem even worse.

Unless you're talking nukes -- and I don't know if you can nuke 35,000 square miles of desert without causing a nuclear winter, and that's not even getting into fallout and turning into monsters ourselves -- this is not an easy problem to solve.

Sorry Ted, it's a grown-up world out there and dropping more conventional bombs isn't going to do it.

2014-08-31 09:36:33 PM
Republicans joke that the Democratic solution to any problem is throwing money at it.
The Republican solution is throwing bombs at it.

2014-08-31 09:37:05 PM
Truly, if not accepting modernity made you a candidate for being bombed back into the stone age, a few conservatives could stand to explode.

Saudi Arabia has 300 advanced American aircraft. The best we were willing to sell them. The 2nd best air force in the Middle East. If ISIS is such a threat to everyone, why are they not in this fight?

Not that it's all that big a deal, but Cruz really was born in Canada, while the rumors about Obama being born in Kenya were just rumors spread by many of the same people who will probably ignore the fact the Cruz was born in Canada. . .
