(KETK Tyler)   GCA's and Geo Group's stocks have soared in value since the end of July. What do these companies do? Well, they run for-profit prisons with empty beds and expecting a windfall out of undocumented adult and child immigrants   (ketknbc.com) divider line 22

"Dearest of the Individuals of the United States from the Americas,

We have the desire for doing the thanking of you of throwing the children into the juvenile facility when they seek the better life. Yes we will charge the exorbitant fees for the services which we will provide to them and treat them such as they are the buckets of scum but you have assured us of the keeping of the jets. So f*ck you.

Sincerely,

The CEOs who did the best fellatio to Congressmen"

Private prisons are an absolute perversion of justice. There's no farking reason anyone should be allowed to introduce the profit motive into depriving other people of their freedom. The perverse incentives it creates are far too dangerous.

This.  The idea that our incarceration rules are influenced by lobbyists who are rewarded when punishment terms are lengthened is sickening.  Justice is completely bought and paid for in America, it's at the core of the inequality in our system.

Actually, there's better oversight in a for-profit prison than one run by the government.  The government regulates the for profit prisons, it also regulates its own prisons.  And any time you have self regulation, you have more abuse than if you have external regulation.

This is what I think of this industry:

img3.wikia.nocookie.net

Only the government should run prisons. This way it is a red line item when looked at by businessmen. Since it is always a burden on society to lock people up instead of making sure they don't become criminals again, all we have to do to back off the police state path is remove the profit potential from creating more inmates.

\as for the CEOs of these companies, sociopathy can be treated is most cases

John Oliver's segment on Prisons and specifically the section about the for-profit ones really nailed some good points:

In any case, I wasn't referring to regulation, I was referring to the fact that someone now has a financial incentive to put more people in jail, either through harsher sentencing or expanded criminalization, and to lobby the government to encourage those sorts of policies.

Which is for sure the most disgusting aspect of the whole Murrika Police State.  Farkin' sad and ugly.  Sadly and Ugly.

When PA nailed that POS judge sending kids to prison for a kickback I was happy. But the problem is so wide and deep it's insane. There's a reason I want to move to small cabin in the middle of Ireland and forget about this shiat once and for all.

The correct subjunctive mood tense of 'to be' is 'were' in your usage.

Nono, that's me. But I'm already safe at home. I'm also resisting the urge to try to be witty on the internet (for once, and this post aside), so you're welcome.

I've been annoyed by several small, but glaring, spelling mistakes in threads I've read tonight. I felt that, because they were likely not intentional slights against the English language and myself personally, it might be an unappreciated action to post admonishing reprimands about them.

Clearly you have a different opinion and even more stringent conditions to evoke outrage. I wish I could remember the threads so I could direct you so you could do the semantic dirty work I was too embarrassed to do.
