He also teamed up with Yo Yo Ma and Seiji Ozawa for Dvorak's Humoresque, also readily available on YouTube. If I get unlazy I will post the link.

I've worked for/with Perlman a number of times. The first time I worked with him, his pianist kept feeling my arms offstage. He also invited me back to his hotel room (which I declined).

Perlman is truly a virtuoso, but I can't hear his name without remembering that weird evening.

They're cheating.  They're reading the notes. And the pianist is moving his lips as he reads.

I hear that Emmanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma and Sophie-Anne Mutter will be touring as the Lizzy Borden Trio.

His best work was on "Downeaster Alexa".

He is probably the greatest living musician.

I went to univerity with his daughter, but I did not see her often.

I've met him a few times.  My father was a small donor to his summer music camp, and I would attend concerts when I was around.  Got to see him close up a lot of times.  Just a great guy -- warm and with a great sense of humor.

Here are a few of my encounters with him.

Not by a long shot.

He was also a promising violinist, but his career plateaued in the 1980s.

There are plenty of much more talented violinists out there today: Shaham, Kavakos, Mullova, Mutter, Fischer, Tetzlaff and Josefowicz.

His jazz/blues efforts with Andre Previn are very nice also.  Try A Different Kind of Blues, if you like.

Back in the day, I had a belching contest with him and Andre Previn at someone's apartment after a concert in Daytona Beach..
We were all lit up like Christmas trees.

Saw him last winter in Toronto. He was amazing.

He's quite disabled but doesn't rely on any assistance. Walks out onto the stage by himself.

Witness the power of the Salk vaccine.

You don't see young people afflicted with polio any more. Most are older than 50 or so.

The inter generational amnesia of hospital wards filled with iron lungs and kids on the school bus with braces and crutches are fine from modern memory of those of child-bearing age.

Yet here we go, we're seeing how many preventable diseases coming back because of herd stupidity?

Geez, I didn't mean he can play the best right now, but hi career surpasses that of anyone else mentioned here.

Especially Mutter. I just don't like her.
