Good. I've never seen it myself but people seem to like it and I like the concept of online TV. Damn the networks.

I loved that show. He was perfect in that role. I really hope it comes back altho I wonder if he has aged too much for it to work.

The live action was nowhere near as good as the cartoon which itself wasn't as good as the comic, but I'll watch it if they reboot.

And he says to me, he says to me, you got Style, baby! but if you're gonna to be a real villain you gotta get a gimmick...and so I go I says Yeah Baby! A gimmick, that's it! High Explosives!

I'd rather they bring back the cartoon.

Patrick Warburton is almost 50. I don't know if he has the energy to play the role with the enthusiasm it needs.

I'll watch it.
Got the animated and the live ones sitting on DVD somewhere in a crate.

I think we're close to the turning point within three years or so where streaming media like Amazon, Hulu and Netflix will be a better deal than cable TV for the majority of people. I just finished watching BoJack Horseman on Netflix and I thought it was pretty good. It was like watching an Adult Swim cartoon. I cut the cord over three years ago and haven't regretted it. I can find many things to stream over the internet.

Yeah, almost 50, huh? That means he's got, like, maybe 5 years left to live. He'll probably shatter a hip if he takes a wrong step.

Bat Manuel was a dumbed-down version of Die Fledermaus, a far-funnier joke that, unfortunately, wasn't accessible enough to the couch-potato crowd.

2014-08-30 11:40:18 PM
No, Der  Fledermaus and American Maid were not available in the live action version due to some IP issues with copyrights.  BatManuel however, turned out to be hysterical in his own right "I'll protect the WOMEN!". And his relationship with Lady Liberty.

I ADORED every live-action episode and will pay good money for new ones with the same cast and writing. Warburton was born for two roles: Brock Samson, and The Tick.  I will pay well for him to continue in those roles.

Actually it wasn't a deliberate intent to dumb down the name. IIRC, they had to change his name and American Maid's because they couldn't secure the rights.

I was a little pissed about it at first, but that evaporated as soon as I saw the life Nestor Carbonnel breathed into the character.

Same here. I've been waiting 12 years for the world to come to its senses and bring that show back.

I never use my Prime account, but if this becomes reality I will keep it just for this show.

the animated cartoon is one of my favorites of all time, but i could never bring myself to watch the live action show.  it just didn't look right to me.  remember that live action episode they did of aqua teen hunger force?  it was just like that.  the animated show was beautiful though, it influenced my weird sense of humor a lot when i was a kid.  it also features the funniest bit of dialogue ever:

"it's your turn now, forest-smog!"
"thrakozog! thrakozog! with a k! boy, are you ever rude."
"no brains today, we're only serving humble-pie, whatchamazog!"
"listen buddy, for the last time it's --"
"rour ax in a bog?"
"thrakozog!"
"laxitive log?"
"no! no! no!"
"lap land a zog?"
"no!"
"two laplanders and a dog?"
"thrak --"
"sapsucker frog!"
"no! no! no!"
"... susan?"
"oh.  now you're doing it on purpose.  how juvenile."

I disagree. He would also be a boffo Captain Marvel (SHAZAM! version, not Marvel Comics version. He'd look silly in Carol's costume.)

Agreed. Especially since:

People reports that Warburton has signed a deal to reprise his lead role with Edlund on board to produce and write.

If Edlund is involved I'm optimistic.

I watched maybe the first four episodes of the live action show.  I was disappointed that in the episodes I saw they didn't actually fight any crime.

True - the actor did a good job with it. I was a little pissed about it as well, as you can tell.

Here's to hoping that they, at least, manage to work in some of the other elements, either from the comic or the animated series. Paul the Samurai & Sagin, or El Seed, or the Human Ton and his pal Handy...
