Having been to many Alaska State fairs in my youth I can attest that it is a very entertaining show.

The pig races are interesting too.

And the Gerbil Roulette (it wasn't called that but I forget what it was called).

♫ He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps,
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around.... In bars??? ♫

That's because it's a little bit knotty.

The forestry school generally has lumberjack clubs. Although it's usually just called the forestry club, and they have big get-togethers once a year, where all the schools compete against each other in lumberjack games, and other stuff like IDing trees, animal skulls. Our forestry club had a "name that game" supper where they fed you wild game and you had to guess what it was. The bear was not delicious. But there was enough beer to take the taste away.

Still to this day, my favorite lumberjack show has been the time I went with my son to Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park up in Mackinac City.  It has the complete lumberjack experience of the 18th and 19th centuries, including a working water powered saw mill.  Besides being era cool, it was the mill that built Fort Mackinac.

Alcohol powered chainsaws are cool, but a lot of people has those.  There are fewer of the cool historical mills.

It's saying the page no longer exists. While we're on the subject, though, here's a giant sculpted wooden phallus left on top of a car.
