Motorist problems.

How 'bout:

Doesn't check mirror before opening door into traffic, yet whines about cyclists who ride a door's width from parked cars (forcing them out of the bike lane).

Or how about motorists who whine that cyclists don't pay taxes when we actually pay a disproportionate amount of taxes to subsidize motor traffic.

You'll find this creature in the far-left freeway lane doing no more than 5 mph over the limit [barely breaking the law] and often a lot less as he blocks traffic. Despite everyone passing him on the right [flagrantly breaking the law], he maintains his sluggish pace

fixed.

I think I saw that right on red photo attached to an article explaining that the intersection was camera enforced and cameras will trigger for legal right on red.

Ex-girlfriend was guilty of the no look lane change. She sent another car into the ditch once.

Smug. It ain't just for breakfast anymore.

Here's a thought, Mr. former military man: situational awareness. I understand that having a car door opened into you can ruin your day, and that person is an asshole. But how about you do what I - a car driver - do in similar situations and look to see if there's someone in the car as you approach it? If there's not, then there's no chance the door will be swung open. If there is, pay attention, maybe even - *gasp* - slow down and be prepared to stop if needed. Is it going to prevent every instance? No, people are still selfish assholes. But it will reduce the number and lessen the damage if it does happen. Sure seems a better choice than riding outside your dedicated lane and blocking traffic. Then again, I'm sure you'd understand if I drove my VW down the bike lane at 10mph slower than you, as long as I had a "good reason".

While it's true that the Federal gas tax is used on interstates, the California gas tax is used on California roads and streets (and other, non-automobile, transportation). Also, were you under the impression that constructing and maintaining bike traffic infrastructure was free? Since you pay nothing in gas taxes, it is you sir who are forcing us to disproportionally subsidize your hobby.

Hey, if we're supposed to be in the street, we are in the street. Most of the time, for me at least, there's another lane. Just pass like a normal person. It's easy.

This right here is the perfect way to start this thread.

Story has absolutely nothing to do with cyclists, but you make it a car vs. bicycle thread right out of the gate! Very impressive.

Missed the Deep South NASCAR wannabe; doesn't really want to go faster than you, but will redline the tach for a mile to get ahead of you, then slow down to his cruising speed.  Which is slower than you were going in the first place.

I have never seen a group of drivers who are as willing to blast through a stale yellow as Connecticutians.

And bikers? If your are on a two-lane county road line up single file as much as possible, particularly during rush hour. Actually try not to be on roads like that during rush hour at all. It's two freaking hours of the day and on those types of roads there's no way you could be a commuter, you're just a mobile traffic cone.

I rarely need to see your turn signal. I can tell when you're setting yourself up for a lane change. I can tell when you're in the right turn only lane. I may need to see your turn signal if you're doing something unexpected, like turning into a driveway.

The over-polite driver
You and another both get to an intersection with stop signs. The other guy has the right of way, but wants to be "polite" and let you go first anyway. So you both sit there waiting until other guy waves you on. Then you go, wary. If the other guy would just go when they have the right of way, we would both get on with our lives quicker. Maybe they just doesn't know the right of way rules.

My favorite: Enter from the right, jump to center lane, jump to left lane, jump to center lane, jump to right lane, exit. Total time on highway 25 seconds. Had a California driver do this on the 205 in Portland yesterday.

Are you aware that a vast proportion of the road construction and repairs are benefitted by the general fund? Are you aware that Caltrans, where your gas taxes go, maintains less than twenty percent of the roads in CA? Are you aware that only 25% of Caltrans budget comes from gas taxes?

Yeah, my property taxes, income taxes, and sales taxes are subsidizing your motor vehicle habit.

And, for what it's worth, I have a motor vehicle that I drive once in a while, so I still pay the gas tax you seem to think pays for everything.

At every 4way stop I come to the other driver waves me to go ahead. No matter who has the right of way. It's like stopping at a red light and the driver with the green stops and waves you through. It's bs, go when it's your turn, you ignorant fark!

You can't be referring to me. I'm hardly ever in the left lane because I drive the speed limit. But I'm endlessly amused when I see an arrogant shiat who's too good to move right meet another arrogant shiat who's too good to move right driving slightly faster.

Other states have trooper that tend to frown on speeding in general.
Except for states that have corrupt cops.

People like you bring a tear of joy to my eye.  Thank you for staying out of the left lane so that lunatics like myself don't have a rage-stroke.

I'm usually smart enough to go around the slow drivers if I can, but it's all about timing.  Sometimes there's not enough space to get past a slow driver, at least not without cutting off a couple people.

Motor traffic is paid for via the fuel tax.  So how much gas do you put in your fixie?

Are you aware that the fuel tax is actually just a sales tax that is dumped straight into the general fund?  Obviously not.  Almost all taxes in this state are dumped into the general fund.

2014-08-29 08:56:50 PM
How about motorcyclists who think everyone should be forced to hear their eardrum rupturing straight pipe noise belching into their ears as they pull away from a red light.

Also, if you're the first person at the red light, your only responsibility is to keep constant watch on the light. You don't look away for ANY reason! You watch for the light to change then immediately go! Everyone behind you can be distracted because seeing your movement out of the corner of their eye is their cue to begin moving. If you don't want that responsibility then don't be the first person in line.

Around here, it's the long boarders with a beer in one hand and a joint in another, not riding coffin style that are the problem.   http://www.summitdaily.com/opinion/letterstotheeditor/12609474-113/pa t h-board-caused-frisco

/sorry about the question wall, I usually just answer randomly.
//must be true, because if you were coffin style you would probably spill the beer
///maybe there's a new silicone device for coffin style long boarders to be able to sip
////like that other thing that the ladies use
